At this point i dont even want to play Standalone because of the KOS epidemic. You ever tried to meet a group of people of 10 or 20 people in one room the server will crash happened twice to my group and to several others... Try and get 10 people together for a trade = crash try and get 30 people for a PVP battle = crash So good luck on 100 person server Also, on topic, it's not meant to be a GTA style online game where you have a population; or an MMO where people are everywhere. In a zombie apocalypse there should be way way more zombies than people. It should be something like 10 or 20 to 1 ...I don't want to see survivors everywhere I run..its meant to be an apocalyptic wasteland, a ghostland, not full of people. If i only see one of two people per play session that is a good amount and its not meant to be non-stop action. Having played lots of day z mods, arma 3 mods, standalone etc.. I think Chernarus works with 40 or 50 players..its not a huge map and the interesting areas are always busy..Those experimental servers that were full of 40/40 used to have people everywhere i ran..it didn't feel like an apocalypse.. Altis, or Sauderland could probably handle 70-100...not chernarus imo

i know i tried to work out what to do after reading similar threads on epoch forum and that. but for me personally. the commander Z method works for Epoch, and the Steam way works for vanilla day Z . As for playing Epoch through Steam Day Z, i can't get that to work. Hopefully soon when this next update is forced out things will get fixed. cheers -
Actually they said earlier that it should be done by now, then they changed their minds and said quarter 3,,, which we Are in now... Jan - march = Quarter 1, April-June=Q2, so we're meant to be in 3 now. A lot of the things that were on the roadmap have been delayed or not re-announced.,, so we dont have any dates to go on which sucks. Also , there will be servers with different options , like in the mod. Everyone getting their selfs worked up but there will be servers with more than a few vehicles., and private hives etc with hopefully epoch, and other varieties just like in the mod. Personally i haven;t experienced been shot while jsut driving a car from A to b very often, only on the Arma 3 breaking point mod which is non-stop PVP... Looking forward to playing on an empty server/PVE Focused server, which wont have people shooting ur car every moment. building a base without pricks shooting me all the time. So have to say chill out, people trying to force everyone to play their way...there will be options for the more casual crowd etc. Also I agree with the OP, I feel the developers should just add the Arma 2 OA placeholder models in that work- eg. the hatchback, motorbike, pushbike. Add them in with the current A2 mechanics, and as and when your 'new fancy mechanics' are ever finished, patch them over. this will give the current alpha something to do, while we wait the next 3-6 months for an update/ announcement of update ETA. modders have already done this, so its not like its a massive work effort that some people make out. Its probably just enable the vehicle u want and then turn it off when you patch it.

in the OP you say to opt out of the beta and it's stable..then further down it says to select beta from dropdown menu... I am not sure which it is? I was told beta before but now it changed? i want to stop using commander and just use steam but i think some servers it doesnt work -

Yes this is something I would like to see implemented.! It would be cool if eventually they could make it a bit more immersive, for example the logo that appears on vehicles, that could be done 'in-game' if you found paper, a knife and spraypaint (craft a stencil)... As for the logo on the clothing that could be done if you found a needle and thread? just an idea..

Insta-reload doesn't work with that pistol for me. I have two clips but i still cannot quick reload like i can with shotgun speedloaders or M4 clips.

Hi I just wanted to raise a discussion about server crashing that has happened to our group twice now, when about 10-20 people all came together to meet on one server and put a few items on the ground etc. The server stopped responding. On the first occasion it was a random server we joined and it crashed after lots of people gathered in one room. The second time was on Saturday and I attended so saw it all. Basically everyone met up at a castle with lots of gears, only about 4 items were placed on ground, about 10 people in this one room and a few outside, then everyones went non-responsive, So i exited, and now the server says not responding when I try to join a friends list. And it dissapears from server list. We even contacted a server admin before, and he restarted his server for us right before the event, so sure it wasnt a restart... Has anyone else had problems meeting up or server crashes with lots of people in one area? I really think this needs testing in experimental or in their office if they can test this: Gather 20 people or so , all with full inventorys, and see if the game is still stable. Because i know 40/40 experimental servers have been fairly ok,. apart from rubber banding. But have they tested so many people in one room as its potential issues in the future any advice from anyone please say to me. I have seen another group called 'day z flash mob' that met massive crowd in one room to dance, but thing is i think a lot of them had no inventory, we all had backpacks, vests, some people had yellow boxes and ammo boxes. Must be a lot of info for the server to handle? In future we will have to limit this somehow and not all meet in one room or throw things on the floor, but it seems like potential problem here

I agree with public hives. At least give us the option to do both. You are really not providing to the co-op/ PVE crowd by forcing us all onto this hive. Edit. I know this will be coming once we're out of the alpha and beta hopefully. -

yes, me and my friends would like to play night, i personally dont use that gamma shit, it makes the game look awful black and white and horrible contrast, obviously as a graphics whore i like to be immersed into my zombie apocalypse, i didnt pay £1000 to sit and look at a bright white bullshit screen for some lame advantage. I dont put my games on 'low' to get advantage either, i play on max settings as I can...I always carry a lantern./head torch/ pistol light. I think Caboose is over the top and winding us up, but you are right not everyone is a dickhead. Maybe another thing for private servers with trusted friends which is a shame, because the day z public will use every glitch or advantage they can. -

Exploring, looting, chilling killing zombies. I find that fun. I'm probably going to have to wait for private servers to get the kind of PVE difficulty that is neccesary, but I can't be arsed to play on full servers with the community this bad. Gone back to the Mods' (vanilla and some epoch pve) until pathfinding and persistant items are done. -

I have to disagree, my characters priorities are always a lantern and gas canisters (these light up about 100mtr diameter in bright yellow light). Headtorch, and my FNX with pistol light. I love playing at night and the atmosphere and great lighting effects are immersive. -

I thought we already have accelerated time some servers say an X next to the time which means their edited. On topic, i think 2 hours is way way to frequent for restart,. 4 hrs is tollerable but still annoying, it is game breaking and immersion ruined for me having to stop every 2 hours. Especially in the mod its a pain constantly landing vechicles etc standalone not so bad but it breaks up the possible contacts etc -

It wasn't even the entire server it was like 10-15 people and the server was empty apart from us. The server crashed with only a couple of items on the floor. The point is 10-20 people could easily be fighting over one area such as an airfield, especially if 100 person servers are pushed. And what's to stop 3 clan having 10 members each and all fighting over an area? This is absolutely nothing to do with Call of Duty. This is highlighting how bad the engine is that the whole server crashes if a large group meet up, pretty much what the game is supposed to be designed for (free-roaming, do what you want). As usual no response from a developer about this. Good luck barricading a big base with a big team if this is what happens!
