How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?

I think the main reason it is better is it is more balanced most mods spawn people with bs gear and make it too easy. Epoch for example you will have a car,gold, and guns in about an hour. It also has a fantastic inventory, character customisation and clothing / medical system is vastly improved. you might say it is all the behind the scenes things that make for an overall much more professional realistic and enjoyable experience. However, personally i feel progress WAY TOO SLOW!!!! Developers aren't even posting clearly what is going on on experimental;/stable.. Look at updates threads, no new posts since 20 March. Its 10 April and things in game have changed and only been announced un-officially and on twitter and things Please keep Forum up to date day Z. i would have expected to see basic vechicles by now; i mean push bike and motorcycle minimum. really i heard everything rocket says/wants to do about customisable vechicles but we dont really need that for a push bicycle! Chuck them in to give us something to do., and then add to them/edit later. Also most the updates are an extra weapon hear and there , like new guns and stuff. Would rather have more PVE orientated updates to begin with, and then add guns last. So I would put frying pan, cooker, lamp, tent etc before Guns. I would also keep adding melee weapons before they add more guns/ammo. Would have expected the zombie update from a few weeks ago to be tweaked by now. Obviously with the pathfinding this bad they shouldnt be left at this speed and respawning 10m from player. Experiment is good but how about doing 1 week with the super zombies, week 2 with zombies that spawn over 50m away, week 3 with another variation, and then take results and opinions about what is best. Seems we get lumped with this shitty system until the pathfinding and AI is redone, which could be what 3 months? So yeah overall, i feel it is a slow progress and it has discouraged me and my friends. -
have you tried the my documents/ day z folder. Sometimes my Arma 3 gets glitched and crashes upon loading after i install add ons I have to delete my docs/ Arma 3 / Arma3.cfg and then it works again. just a thought, maybe wipe the my docs folder and try? Im sure you already tried this. but worth a shot.

it doesnt even take long to meet up with friends. I dont like people spawning at Svet, i think it should be no further north than Berezino. There is end-gear there and just up the road is NE airfield. -
New zombies mess me up, how do you win?

Use something we like to call: common sense. Did you take everything you read here literally? Thats bad research man. A lot of walking dead fans like 'classic Romero' Zombies. I am of this camp. We want the zombies to be walkers, slowly shuffeling around, roaming, and then when aggro'ed break into a jog. For a point of reference, the speed they were at pre-update was about right, if only there was more of them and they were considerably dangerous. For the purpose of good gameplay, a mid-speed between the pre-update and post-update speed of running would be about right for me personally. I think their current sprint speed doesn't even match their animation, it almost looks as if they treadmill-accelerated running. -

after watching the videos interview with Rocket recently seems most of the things we all want are already planned. stuff like the zombie pathfinding in buildings, and hopefully the stealth system. As for zombie speed I think they should be slightly slower than currently, maybe the speed they were before but a lot more of them. Would like to see hordes of 10-20 zombies (randomly roaming zombies that can spawn anywhere ) and in towns zombies amount should be about 2-3 zombies per every building. This would give each town / area a scaleable and realistic amount of zombies. As for spawning I think they should spawn at least 300m bubble randomly around the player or possibly have spawn zones in town buildings. More so if gun is fired. But there needs to be some element of cool down, hopefully there will be a lot more zombies in areas with buildings, and if cleared the area and in particular zone for an amount of time, say 10minutes in one area, zombies stop spawning in and you can clear them all out. Then they wont respawn until you leave the area and return a bit like the loot implementation. but the zones would have to be quite small and many zones all over the map scaled accordingly. For example NW airfield could have a few different zones that need clearing or staying in to prevent spawns. -
well bumping this for those that aren't able to enjoy the Alpha. Op i hope they are working on a solution for you and others in that situation.

its not about ultra rare items to be honest its saying every single piece of loot can be centralised and in Deans example a vechicle such as a Heli might not have the parts it needs on one server, they might be spread across many servers- this could cause problems we have highlighted- including forcing players to hop servers, perhaps the server with the part is out of ping range, full of players, or the players that have the gear saved are logged out for long periods of time. you essentially create impossible tasks and 'unlootable' loot, hence the cause for concern here. :)

have you played project zomboid? i like the zombies on that- slow walkers, go near them and they break into a jog. They can break a door if theres a lot of them hammering it. I think their AI Is pretty good! Also - i really like Dead island zombies! Sorry for comparing- but i think that game has some of the best melee combat ever. I think they should look at some other games and think about how to make challenging, fun to kill, and dangerous-in-a-group zombies! -
I agree with not finding a part sometimes, that would be the chance of it spawning. What I dont agree with is giving something a -0% chance on one server and a 10% on another server. That makes some servers randomly pointless, if you need that one particular piece. Im not bothered about NVGs-wish they remove. However playing some breaking point i know how hard it can be finding vechicle parts- and if you then add in another acronymn meaning some parts 'never' spawn, that makes it even harder. as for finding out about where things are..well you say that now and in theory we wouldnt know, but people are going to be hunting down parts and finding out who has what. Its just a matter of time. Anyway i am interested to see how it pans out and would love to hear from a developer about these different concepts of Loot centralisation!

I enjoyed the last debate and was gutted it got de railed and closed. I think loot should not be centralised on a hive. Each server should be its own self contained world- with the exception of characters been able to bring their inventory from other servers- character hive First lets try to understand how it works and what would happen- I would rather it had a very small chance of spawning in a industrial area. Something like 0.5% chance of appearing in a industrial location every restart. Some restarts of the server it wont be there. Alternatively what they are suggesting is having control over eg. 100 servers. And only making one heli cyclinder appear 'shared' across all those. So if it spawns in server 1 at 10am,. it wont spawn at any other 99 servers until its used/destroyed? This will make me feel like I am searching the whole map for one part, that might even never ever be there! At least if each server had a very small chance to spawn EVERYTHING, i would be able to search infinitely without feeling hopeless With this new loot system, searching might feel hopeless, especially if you know, for example, the item you are looking for is restricted,. and other servers have them My worry is this will create impossible tasks for people, and leave you feel hopeless. I'd rather have a very small percent chance for everything within one server hope i explained that clearly! Self contained worlds, dont make looting pointless -Edit., Another big problem. After reading OP post, he says it will stop people hoarding. But its going to be the opposite effect. If one group for example hordes all the parts that dont spawn again, every other server will have 0% chance of finding them. Making it impossible. And what if said team's server is full. down, or in a far away country? How in the hell is anyone going to find it? it might be out of PING range for example!!! Lots and lots of potential flaws. Yes thats what i think was weird. I always felt each server should be its own world, especially more so when we have vechicles and tents. How does one world affect another? why would there only be one part across ten servers? why not just give the part a smaller percent chance of spawning? Seems a really backwards way of doing it,. Take my example a helicopter engine, very rare, maybe there is 3 broken heli's per server. Why would you give the part only in 1 in 10 servers? Why not give the part a 5% chance to spawn on every server on every restart?> people would have more reason to become established and defensive on ONE server, waiting for their loot and searching industrial areas over and over after restarts, with this hive economy buillshit people will just server hop all day -
Ding Ding we have a winner hard as f**k please One hit is bleeding/ 50% chance of unconscious Hordes of 20-50 zombies in small towns Gunshots draw zombies within a 1KM boundary (not 100 damn metres)

Im getting a little tired of this argument. Hunting is not going to be some amazing thing that will take all our time. Im a strictly PVE , communicate first kind of guy and im getting bored with Day Z standalone. Waiting months for the zombie update and now we get a real mess of zombies. Im a classic Romero fan and preffered the first batch of Z's over these. Anyway, on topic, hunting will take like an hour to get fully fooded up., Now we have even easier way to get food. I've alreeady said its too bloody easy to find food everywhere. Water should be boiled first not drunk straight from the swamp. Please make loot rarer, zombies more plentiful, and survival more of a challenge. Its such a walk in the park.

this guy gets it . Apple jack seems to think every server will still have every part. when clearly now things will be limited. Every server will not have every bit of loot. Things will have a 0% chance of spawning on certain servers!!! this is immersion breaking, i agree. Central loot is bad idea, should be a smaller percent chance of getting everythign on one server, or whats the point?! cant people grasp that will spoil immersion . -

You misunderstood completely Im afraid. He was talking about having a central loot economy. Take a time to think what that means. Certain parts would be restricted across all servers. There might only be one heli engine per 10 servers. its a way to restrict OP military items like night vision. he didnt mean everything would be on each server. He means there will be rarer, and if you want a heli you will have to server hop to find those parts. thats how he described it, not what you said at all. OP was right -
Most of these conflicts you mention are war killings, soldiers killing civilians and battle of two divisions We are talking about an anarchic situation where no soldiers or government are there to 'control us' and people left to their own devices. Have you seen Ukraine? people are rallying together making their own armors and weapons to fight together Have you seen our protests such as Anonymous, Occupy, anti fracking protests etc You will see more people rising up and co-operating I believe when the shit hits the fan & people realise our governments are not going to save us, they are following through a global agenda of depopulation and we are all dead weight that needs killing off.

to be honest i think we need some kind of dynamic missions, roaming NPC Ai, or something a bit more to give it the edge. The current zombies I agree with what most say, reduce their speed to between where they were before (slow jog ) and now (fast sprint) , more of a slow run would be ideal... Damage they do is good, just need more of them, slower, and further away spawning. -
It looks like Desync and lag to me, and I've played alot of arma 2/ 3/ standalone The guy is twitching and teleporting slightly- the CLASSIC signs of Arma lag and desync which has been happening so much across standalone and arma 3 recently! Day Z standalone usually does it if you are STREAMING, like Frankie fucking is! I didnt see him CLICK on his name in players and check his D Sync did you? I constantly check player list if players look laggy- chances are its him desyncing lol. Why does everyone cry wallhack? Frankie is in a large metal garage with many opening windows and the main door open, its a tin shack that bullets can penetrate Due to the high upload requirements. Or carrying a yellow ammo box. Cognitive dissonance, is kind of where you do something you dont want to, like a smoker still having cigarettes,,, so why is that relevant? Watch the video a couple times and explain your points better

Lol. It'll be about ten times louder, the whole point Daryl uses the bow is to Silently kill zombies, and to hunt his food, something you wouldnt be doing either off with your loud as hell remington.,. you would get killed or die of starvation much quicker than a good bowman!
