Balance between fun and realism!!! I think Guns are OP, naturally, i try to think of some fun weapons that are deadly but require much more skill, or up close, than a simple mouse click shoot A katana, naturally, would be a friendly nod/ easter egg to a favourite character from TWD I would love to see friendly nods to other games/ films in the genre. As other zombies games have done. Thanks

i agree , guns need to be far rarer. For example the piano house seems to have a 90% chance of spawnign a gun, same with top floor school. Could these locations and similar reduce to about 10 or 20% chance of rifle spawn and then replace a lot of these with non fatal, or 'mid range' Im thinking a new tier should introduce that sits between melee and guns, similar to crossbows etc Melee and improvised weapons should be more common. Power tools- Drills, sanding discs, Chainsaws, Hammers, Sledgehammer, Bigger machetes, KATANA, Dumbells, blow torches, Non Fatal ranged weapons: Nail Gun, Taser Gun, BB guns, fire works- cracklers, rockets, flares, flare gun, Paintball gun, Also kind of similar they could have basic vechicles that are between walking and a car- such as rollerskates, BMX, mountain bike, skateboard, unicycle

Will we have acog and red dot combo and etc.
agentneo replied to king_of_the_beans's topic in General Discussion
good idea I would like to see these added with some draw backs been slightly more weight for a slower turn speed, and a small delay when changing between the two. Also, the sights would probably obstruct your view slightly when using the Red Dot. -
No i am not kidding. I think Standalone is way better than Arma 3: breaking Point., and miles ahead of the ARMA 2 mod even at this early point in alpha. Arma 2 DAY Z mod zombies are the shittiest AI i have ever saw. They are ten times worse than Standalone zombies that go through walls. Horrible janky ai that hits you from a mile away and constantly LAGS I have explained my reasons for this opinion already. Breaking Point is way more KOS than Standalone. i have played both since around Christmas. Breaking Point is specifically designed to be more like wasteland PVP mod, with factions, and guns everywhere, a bit like Overwatch mod, if you have ever played that. before the Breaking Point factions everyone killed on sight. In Day Z standaloine military guns and ammo is much less common, and is found in realistic loot areas. More people have less items and are more likely to co-operate, compared to on Breaking Point or other mods where they spawn with weapons and guns are much more common. Standalone has a nice balance especially with the loot- weapons are found in realistic locations, except i feel the piano house is too common and easy to find guns. The medical system is already deeper than anything we saw in mods, even at this early stage, and i can see the frame work for cooking looks incredible. As for the Arma 2 mods such as Epoch and Origins,. they promote team work and are closer to the game I like, but they have too much gear everywhere and are 'easy mode'. I think Standalone developers are striking a really key point with me that I agree, they want the base game to be difficult and the zombies to be a challenge. I cannot wait until we have hordes of super hard zombies that require team work and skill to kill. In Breaking Point the challenge is clearly PVP with the zombies been nothing but an after thought and completely ignorable and useless in game. The code in that mod is lazy and ripped off previous DAY Z mods such as Day Zero. All the animations for every movement are the same as a bandage. Yes , it has vechicles, but they glitch pretty much all the time, and their near impossible to find because all their servers are over filled. Day Z standalone allows people to rent a server which puts it miles ahead of a mod for Arma 3 which wont even allow people to rent a server. Breaking Point: The loot and items are just randomly whacked into Boxes, you never see a nicely placed item, its just in random boxes that look awful. If you don't understand how that completely breaks Breaking Point allow me to elaborate. If you work till say 5pm every UK and EU Server is filled at 65/65. If you have equipment or vehicle in a full server you will not be able to access it. breaking Point servers are constantly under desync and full at their limits. and if you get into a chopper with a crew of 5+ geared people the thing lags out and explodes. This happened 4+ times and to other crews we know. Their servers are broken and their admins haven't got a clue. On breaking point everyone now has a uniform (they dont even have to earn level 1) so you can instantly identify them as a friend of foe, or traitor. This makes it way more like Wasteland. In Day Z, everyone can create a unique uniform out of hundreds of combinations. This means you have that tense feeling of not knowing if someone is friendly or not . Character customisation is a massive plus for me, and makes it worth playing. Finally due to the uniforms, abundant weapons, and spawning with some half decent gear (level 3 ranger) Breaking Point doesnt give me adrenalin rush or fear of unknown. In Day Z Standalone I walk around tense, on the edge, and constanty adrenalin filled. The other points about loot spawning realisticly and the map development make Standalone far more immersive. As for things like vechicles and different maps, eventually user content will come to Standalone and just imagine an Epoc or Breaking Point with the Day Z Standalone's technology, it will be far better base game to use than the mods of arma 2/3. The recent aim acceleration fix almost puts the engine on a par with arma 3 , also.

i want a zombie only no player one (basically a private server)
-
i would love to play a single player version offline or a private co-op version with a few friends where i can explore, loot and not worry about trolls constantly killing on sight. yeah i know part of day z danger is other players, but i really enjoy to explore and kill zombies personally i cannot wait for that

Suggest list of 'no-hacking' allowed Dayz (Standalone) Servers? [newb]
agentneo replied to javapapo's topic in New Player Discussion
well i have had alright games on a few servers...recently i have played on Chaos server and French rp server, basically i just search for ones with the x next to time, speeded up time is nice, and join in the middle of the night Also good are Musty servers -
i never kill someone unless they shoot at me first or come at me with hostile charge... always friendly player and have met a few people in game randomly who became good friends in real life also, think before you shoot.

DAY ZStandalone is the best in my opinion, the devs are focused on a realistic and co-operative experience with threatening zombies and great attention to detail., every item is hand crafted and the character interacts with it nicely... breaking point is very good and worth playing, however it is far more of a PVP deathmatch, like wasteland, with their new factions system, also their dev. team stinks, they wont allow private servers, they wont even admit is needed, and they make the game to PVP with little danger from Zeds etc, and guns everywhere, the loot system and attention to detail is awful compared to standalone, also most of that content is stolen from day z mods
-
yeah breaking point zombies are completely tame, there is lots of them. If they had that many zombies in standalone but with the better attacks/jump attacks and they weren't super fast it would be about right

Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)
agentneo replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Another good point. We were told this was some high grade new flashy engine that was COMPLETELY REWORKED from Arma 2. Its the same engine, with all the same shit. Should have made it in Arma 3 to begin with. To be honest looking at the progress made so far it would probably benefit the game to just dump the whole arma 2 engine and transfer/ convert the standalone to Arma 3 at this point. At least they are trying to fix the mouse issue. -

agentneo replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Im not ignorant. I have written a big article about Day Z and have highly rated it. however on this specific issue- yes Zombie AI has been passed to the other team who made the hunting games. They are going to take about 3 months estimate before we see any change Ok rewind to before launch., All the hype said zombies were going to be fixed and then ...they werent -

agentneo replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
the most annoying thing for me is how sh*t the zombies are. In all the hype runnign up to the game they banged on about how they had fixed zombies. then just before launch that crappy videos comes out with dean running around with a compass and a buggy zombie. What has changed in 6 months? I think with a zombie game start with the zombies. then add the fancy coats and shoes. , and they had a year of work before it even release alpha? FFS -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
agentneo replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Slow zombies are easy to make a threat. You obviously havent played much zombie games / seen much zombie movies Game Examples Left 4 dead 2 Walking Corpses Mod (this makes all zombies walk/shuffle and not run) it is way harder than original difficulty. There are also no special zombies. it is difficult because 1-3 scratches is fatal Literally two hits and your on floor. The only way to survive is to 100% make sure no zombie ever touches you Resident Evil 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 All these games have slow zombies. Again on harder difficulties the game creates a challenge because of the high damage output. 1-3 hits is fatal again, with the first hit taking almost 50% health. If you imagine that sort of damage on day z the zombies would be extremely dangerous. Going in for a melee should be absolutely risky and almost 50% chance they'll; hit you from the side or whack your arm when you bring the axe in. Project Zomboid / State of Decay Both these games use a medium range Walker/ Jogger as i would say, they are shuffling walkers as default but when you go near them they can jog. They are as fast as your character in jog, and slightly slower than your sprinting character. Gives a nice balance- need stamina to escape them, but they can keep up generally and do a lot of damage Films & TV Dawn of the dead Shaun of the Dead The Walking Dead Zombie land etc etc IN Summary, it is easy to balance a slower zombie. Basic principles (common sense to any veteran walking dead/ dawn of the dead fan)- Damage Output! Most Crucially Slow zombies must KILL in between one-three strikes, or one bite. one scape should do 30-50% damage and leave the player bleeding and infected. Seriously! Must fear the zombie strike Strength in numbers - slow zombies should travel in hordes, and noise attracts more HeadShot Only. Slow zombies should only die when headshotted. Chest shots, legs, arms,., etc should have no effect / minor slowdown. only a headshot kills Make these three things part of the zombie and you will see slow zombies can be much, much harder. Try that left 4 dead 2 walking corpses Mods on Extreme difficulty. And then come back and tell me its easy - -
How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
agentneo replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
We'll see whos Lol'ing when it comes out. Made by Sony Online means it has a massive budget and if you actually did some research rather than flaming you would see their CEO has quite clearly stated nothing that can give an advantage , ie, guns, will be able to purchase. Only cosmetics probably do you think Day Z is the only zombie game ever? Most of its ideas were inspired by previous games and movies.Zombie games have been around longer than Day Z you know. h1Z1 We dont have enough info yet , but from Planetside 2 developers we know it can handle literally thousands of people at once. The engine is smooth and doesnt lag. That alone gives it a f++king massive head start against the clunky-as-hell Arma 2 engine. So hopefully it will turn out to be good? Who knows. I will be happy playing with hundreds of people with that nice snappy combat instead of de-syncing around getting shot by a guy I shot 2 minutes earlier. Arma engine combat is just random. It might work, and it might lag. I am very hyped for it having only seen a short video. Day Z standalone is going to take about a year to become truely playable. I for one am a massive zombie fan, and I will be seeking new experiences to play until Day Z is ready!!! -
How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
agentneo replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
Some good competition coming out in May. i think that may give them the 'kick up the arse' that i hope for! The Forest and H1Z1 are looking great and I am sure like Project Zomboid and others they will give day z some inspiration As a massive fan of the genre i have been waiting patiently for new games such as Dying Light & Division. But these two for may look great. Will take a break of standalone and play those 2 once them come out. -

Are they going to try any other zombie experiments? Would be cool if they could try a slightly different one every week or fortnight? -
How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
agentneo replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
would be nice to see the patch updates everytime in announcements and news. We are trying to keep track of all the changes for several communities who play the game. For example I tried putting experiment build on the other day. there were only 4 servers available for experimental, all with time modifications, I have heard about upto 64x time speed up but can't see it in the latest patch notes. -
looking foward to Steam Workshop and new territories too, Chernarus is a bit small with the new running speed and chance of increasing server pop. I actually am beginning to really like Altis. It has just the right mix of urban/ rural for zombie game and some great areas to search. I only wish it was a european or english theme map with more woodland than a mediterian. I would absolutely LOVE to see an english territory in Arma day Z. If anyone has ever found one link me. I would like to play in Lake District type area with mountains, lakes, shacks and campsites. Would make for an epic apocalypse.

its not about training etc or having military moves lol the whole point of the A3 Stances is to allow you to poke your gun/head over different sizes of cover In real life, trained or not, you can adjust your height to any sized piece of wall. In game, a more streamlined and organised system must be used. So rather than just crouch/stand they have several iterations. No training or knowledge is required to adjust your crouch height in real life. Absolutely moronic

i want to see zombies that can scratch and scrape WHILE WALKING the jump attack was a big move in right direction Day Mod zombies were always shit because they had to stop walking to attack! If you keep moving they cannot hit. Now they must have a more greater number of attack variations rather than the Standalones 'double hand whack'. Should be more like a random left /right hook and claw moves, and occasional 'nut' effect (looks like headbutt as they try and bite you) And all moves should be doable whilst the zombie is in motion!!!!

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251
agentneo replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
no updates written since March 20th do you have a social media officer at B.I. Day Z office? Because haven't seen much out of them!!! Where do i look for official Day Z updates- is it 'reddit' , face book, PC Gamer magazine, Dean's bloody twitter accounts??! Because other people tell me what is happening before it is written on the official forum. Update this month? Still waiting for the update announced in March? or was it February? persistant backpacks, ragdolls etc ? Now its hunting and fires? Nothing on developer branch servers just 4 servers with 64 time. Has the 64 x time even been anounced on these forums? -

How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
agentneo replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately all the juicy stuff is a long way off according to that! nothing to get excited about for April/ May / June really? When will loot respawn be? I think they should get all that detailed into dates and so on (i hear what he said about quarters, they should definetly start planning dates and scheduling it, seems to slide on forever waiting for this update for persistant backpacks and ragdoll items for about 5 weeks?!) Dont mean to sound harsh but we need to speak up and put some pressure on, they have an extra team , millions of dollars and we are stuck with the same glitches from years ago while they figure it out. Yes i signed the alpha :P
