I would add that a player that is a zombie should always have the option to suicide/respawn if he wants. This would just be an added mode after some deaths.

Yes! I would love that. It might be interesting to have it have 2 less storage spots (4 total) but a faster draw. It would be a tradeoff someone would have to when choosing that or a 6 slot item with no bonuses.

I always thought it would be fun to play as a zombie in DayZ. The way I see it working is if a player is attacked by a zombie and begins to bleed, when the player dies, he will wake up 10 seconds later in the same position with the same gear on but with a new zombie skin. He should be able to run 1.5 the speed of a normal players sprint and have no stamina loss. His only attacked would be the melee swipe zombies normally have. It would also slightly address the KoS dilemma because their would be added danger when killing players. You'l never know when the person your looking will rise from the dead! What are thoughts?

Curiosity killed the cat, but also the mouse the cat was following. Today I saw someone with full camo and an assault rifle run into a field outside of cherno. I followed. As I walked in his direction I saw him prone in the field. He was aiming down on the city thinking he was camouflaged. I aimed at him. I asked "are you friendly?" No response. He turned to face me. I yelled "Are you friendly?..... Are you FRIENDLY." I saw him pull out his gun and start aiming. I shot at his head, missed and hit the ground around him. I fired again, hitting his shoulder. He rolled over and fired some shots. I shot one more shot, hitting him in the head and killing him. I'm not sure whose in the wrong here. I'm a curious person. I never kill unless I feel threatened but at the same time I put myself into threatening situations. Although I tracked a person into a field, I had no intention of killing him. The lack of a response and having a gun pointed at me left me with no choice but to kill him. This is why I love DayZ. Everything is questionable.

Agreed! At least when there are no names at a distance there is mystery. I hate knowing names and like to track people down via voice and chat.

How is Dean going draw more players to the north?
gaznox replied to iAwesome's topic in General Discussion
Agreed. More transportation leads to more exploration. Basebuilding/item storage leads to deep exploration. -
The new patch allows you to use an ax on cans to open them. I find axes way more often than can openers.

Respect to the OP who wants to teach new players. I understand what he's talking about. I'm down to play if you play my hours, add Gaznox on steam.

A few thoughts after a first playthrough
gaznox replied to tedthefarmer's topic in New Player Discussion
I play on servers with 10 people and it almost feels like too much when you know where the action is at. -
No way! I didn't realize that. Thanks for the tip!

How do I assemble a gun with all the parts?
gaznox replied to gaznox's topic in New Player Discussion
Ahh, thank you. -
I collected all the parts to an M14 but I cannot figure out how to put them together to use it? Any idea?

I join servers in which I hear people talking for 30+ minutes on end that seem to be nowhere near me. Over time they speak about their location and they are on the other side of the map? Do some servers have All-Talk? Why do I hear people that don't seem to be anywhere near me?

I am one of the players who in the mod always used the mic for communication. I feel it improves the experience even though it gives your position away to other unknown players. Bandits most likely will always use skype, Mumble, etc if they want to hunt players. But, for the players who want that immersive feel I think it would be a cool idea to define the range heard based on the loudness of the voice. If I yell into the mic I should be heard much farther away than if I am talking in my normal voice. I could imagine running away from zombies or bandits thinking... where did Jack go? And having to yell to see if I could locate him. For those that wouldn't want friends blasting their voice in their ear when yelling, a system that caps the amplitude could be put in place. Just food for thought. What do you all think?

I heard that helmets prevent players from getting knocked down when hit with a melee weapon in the head. Do helmets reduce damage from bullets?
