Is weather broken? On our server, it rains nearly constantly with only a few seconds in between downpours. As soon as you set foot from under cover, you're 'Wet' and after a few seconds, 'Drenched'. Tried to take off and 'Wring Out Clothes' but you put them back on and they turn to 'Wet' again. Even tried to put on dry clothes. Once you do however, they also turn to 'Wet'. soon after, 'Cold' ensues then 'Hypothermia' then death. After first death I restarted and got wet again as you start off outside. I died again soon after because I couldn't find a raincoat and could not get rid of the 'Wet' condition. Fires seem to have issue when lighting them in the rain...yes, I did just say that because I was desperate. At night, the fire seems to blind you also. Bug? Hot pack did not seem to make much of a difference. I had one activated on me while freezing to death inside the bottom level of a Red House.

I think you're all on crack. In DayZ, you are a civilian. Not a trained, experienced Sniper who has spent months and years being trained by a military weapons expert. You are a cold, hungry and afraid civilian. You can 'rp' someone else but these weapons and mechanics are designed to make combat difficult and problematic. Not every shot is square or has full body penetration. And yes this means that because you 'think' you shot true doesn't mean you did. Distance, elevation, wind, weather, movement, inexperience and though a weapon says 'Pristine' doesn't make it a weapon oiled and maintained in a military armory by men and women who do nothing else but maintain them. As I've said before: DayZ is not intended to be a Mod clone. It is a survival game in which firearms are one aspect. Not the only one. If all you're playing for is KOSing everyone you see with firearms you're probably not going to get what you want out of this game when it's all done. And quite frankly I'm kinda tired of these threads. Sometimes I can shoot pretty accurately at 800 meters and sometimes I can't hit crap within 100 meters. However whenever you fire at someone, you always give up your position and make your presence known. In a survival game these are things that I do not like to do unless I have no other choice. Once they make zombies even more difficult and pack hungry for noisy KOSers, this game will finally become what it should. And not what your run and gunners 'think' it should be. No one is a sniper, you're all just civilians with a rifle that can snipe people, animals and zeds.

Melee is not all that difficult. I do well with Axes, the Hoe and the Pick. Less so with the Pipe, Crowbar, Shovel and Bat. Never tried with the Sickle, Machete, knives or hammer? TO bad we cant use matches and the paint can to catch zombies on fire!!!

When they make weapons damageable and prone to wear and zombies attuned to loud noises like gun shots, PKing will definitely become problematic. Far more will be gained from barter than killing I'll wager. That one shot to the head isn't just going to be one shot unless it is way out in the stix and lets face it, PKers will just hang out at towns and wait for prey to come by. It will be neat to see them get mobbed by zeds. I'd play along for robbers but none of that exists. Its KOS and ask questions later.

Apparently, the DC problem has been fixed. I still however, have crash issues when I back out of a server.

The leg still ached as he stepped through the thorny brush that littered the small clearing before him. Luckily he had a nearly full first aid kit or that small scratch alone could have festered and ended his life. Briefly he wondered if that wouldn't be better than this. A life spent hungry, thirsty and searching. His large backpack barely had any weight to it now and the last town he passed was days ago and zeds were all over it. His stomach growled violently and his chapped lips yearned for wetness, moisture, anything that would quench his perpetual thirst. He paused and took out his canteen before he remembered. It was bone dry and he had long since run out of water tabs anyway. The sun was high up over the trees but he knew it wasn't mid-day yet Carefully he scanned his surroundings and he looked across the field he was about to cross. Something caught his eyes. Casually, he held his left hand over his brow to shade them in order to get a better look. A glint of metal and the colors of rust sat between several trees in the distance just beyond the clearing. Was it a trick of the glare in his eyes or was something actually there and then his eyes trailed along it. He made out a dented hood, a door and the bed of a truck! Excitement at the find and the prospect of danger entered him quickly and he went to a knee in the long grasses that lined the clearing around him. As if by instinct he pushed the clip release on his AKM then lowered his gaze down and counted the rounds left in the clip in his hand. 3 he knew and 1 loaded in the chamber but his stomach growled again and the decision was made as he pushed the clip back in. He reached down and loosened his boot knife and checked to make sure his machete was still there then settled his scarf up around his face. :D

Making ammo and weapons commonplace only makes people more apt to PK/KOS. People who jump on, grab a gun and a clip then look for people to kill and forget about the rest. It is important to make ammo and weapons as rare as they should be in a post apocalyptic survival game. RUST and other games seem to have alot of people quickly running around with full gear PKing bambi's etc. Why is it necessary to make DayZ a PVP FPS clone? If I want that there is a host of better games with better mechanics for that. Moving around aground where packs of zombies could overcome you should be a real and dangerous threat. Not much of one if you can outrun them easily or shoot them all and have lots of ammo to spare. Hardly anyone skirts a town to scout out how many zombies are there or tries to crouch and loot silently right now. I can only hope that the game turns to that direction.

Im still getting disconnected as of yesterday evening. Is there something we can do or try? The game is nearly unplayable as Enemies, zeds and other things kill me when I am suddenly DCed every 15-20mins.
-
Speak for yourself, why do we want a Mod or A2 clone? It's a survival game, I'd like to feel as if each time I log in I need to be careful and quiet less I attract unwanted attention. If there is no time spent on surviving why would it be a survival game?
-
I have had the same when I exit to the server screen. DayZ locks up more than it doesn't now so I have to kill it completely than restart it.
-
Disconnecting every 15-20 minutes. The server that this happens on is all and it is consistent since patch. Game is generally unplayable due to this as it sends me into water, or it is death when it happens in a fire fight.
-
I have the same issue and more than half the time, the DayZ client locks up each time I exit the game. This never used to happen.

I think what is being skirted around is Snipe/Camping lying in wait for anyone to come by. Right now the survival aspect of the game is a shadow to the combat part. Some people like to be weasels lying in wait for players to come by. While I do not judge this part of the game I consider it one of the dangers and the threat keeps me more alert. Wolf packs sometimes employ a sniper as do general robbers if they are smart. The main problem though is that most people wont regard a surprise hold up as what it is. Since equipment is so easy to find, most will fight to the death to kill those robbing them instead of playing along and accepting the situation. I wish more people would hold people up besides just KOSing them outright. I for one would love to play along. Yeah it would suck to lose my good equipment but it would also just be fun. The clan im in tends to like to loot and KOS most of what they see. Mostly equipped people and Bambis if they get to close or appear hostile. I tend to be a loner going from place to place, trying to remain unseen, even to zeds and im getting pretty good at it.

if someone thinks they have an opportunity, most likely they will take it. I dont go looking for people to kill but if i cross paths with someone, i will kill them if they are armed as I know they would try the same with me.

Besides just a bit of lag, I really have no issues. I've had the thing where I cant shoot or attack once, lost some equipment when I logged on but other then that, nothing but a crash here and there but that was usually when exiting a server. I like that the zombies are getting harder and tougher. It makes just being able to loot more dangerous. Shooting a weapon has them coming for you, like it should be. It kinda makes me giggle when I hear guys whining like lil bitches about getting nailed by a zed yet they dont hunker down and move quiet or do anything to scout out there surroundings. To alot of people, zeds are just in their way to loot and PKing. To me they are an equalizer. BTW, my system: Core 2 Quad Extreme CPU, 8GB ram, ASUS Nvidia 570 DCii Video card, Asus Maximus Formula II Mobo and an SSD main drive. Its older but is a workhorse. I first built it in 2009 and upgraded some components a year and a half ago.

Do you guys dupe and use hacks? Just asking.

I have 2 mags for this and 1 for the 101

im finding 45 ammo just fine. In boxes and in random quantities.

Yes, we have Trolls now doing this on our server over and over. This needs to seriously be looked at as people have paid for servers and this bug is disrupting them to the point that they are barely playable. People are online on steam with names like 'Resets' etc. with intent to do nothing but troll servers in this manner. It needs to be addressed asap or I would expect complaints of server renters to start flooding in.

I still use the round robin technique for zombies. Spinning around them as I melee them with whatever I have. We should NOT be able to punch a zombie to death at all. Piercing should be better than blunt and slashing weapons better than piercing weapons. (Besides firearms that is) Standing in front of a zombie...I never do this unless firing at range. With Desync, lag and lack of optimization at this point, standing in front of a zombie will get you hit if not bleeding or worse.

Just did it again while running for my life to get out of Range from an attacker. Lost my last drum mag damnit.

On 3 occasions, ive lost gear in my backpack. 2x binoculars, 1x MP5. None of which I had ever had in my hands or set down anywhere near a restart. I did log a bug report. Other situations come if you set something down near a tree. The other big issue for me is the auto reload when trying to open a door while holding a weapon. On several occasions ive lost my drum mags because i dont have 4 spaces in my inventory and when the action forces a reload, it auto drops to ground. When this happens, its no where around me. I can never find them once they drop like that. a weapon should only ask for reloading when its empty, not each time you try to do something like open a door or drink water.

I have a Mosin, with Pristine LRS and alot of ammo. No compensator though. I have an AK w/folding stock already but looking for a Forearm piece, drum mag and scope(worn or Pris). Will trade for these 3 things.

Three things that completely ruin the DayZ experience...

I'd like to add, Presently, KOSing is NO longer the best way to gather valuables. Shooting someone destroys a great deal of their equipment. If you are shooting them at a distance, chances are you already have a long gun and do not need theirs, which is likely the only piece of equipment besides maybe a helmet, pants (if a chest shot) or boots that will be any good. KOSers, in general are people who get up at crack of dawn and run loot to gear up. (Or Dupe with a friend...you know who you are) Then move to busy locations to snipe bambi's and looters that come by. They have no interest in what they have because they have it all already. I've found that using CAPS communication and offering to trade has been by far the best way to get equipment I've needed. Parts for the guns you have and in turn, giving parts others need. I've only been attacked once by someone who thought that pulling a sidearm out in middle of trading would get them some equipment. I've shot at Bambi's that refuse to stay away from me when asked though but I hate using up ammo like that. If the game had more and more aggressive zombies, far less ammunition finds and far less serviceable weapon finds and weapon wear and damage, you'd see less KOSing and more stealth survival going on.
