Actually I've been quite impressed with DayZ so far. Every player I've met (except some Russians, but quiet about that) has been friendly. It reminds me of when the mod was quite new and everyone tried to work together instead of killing on sight. I hope it stays like this, really enjoying the game so far :)

If you're extremely new to programming, I would give Python a go. It's an easy language to learn for beginners and is one of Google's primary programming languages (not that it makes a difference).
