From memory in the arma mod you needed to make wood pile first on the ground. -
Pretty sure I had a can of sardines also without the ability to eat it. I take it in the alpha you simply select say a screw driver, and drag it over the can? or similar? I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Well this answers my questions. I tried to 'combine' my screwdiver, axe, wrench etc with the canned food with no luck. IRL, 'some' cans have a thumb tab so you can peel the lid off. My first round I died of starvation with 4 cans of food in my backpack.

It's been a while since I've played DayZ on the arma mod. In the Alpha, I couldn't eat the canned food. I am assuming I need a can opener or similar? Screwdriver, axe, wrench, nothing worked. Managed to pass out and die of starvation.
