So if you want to see your guy in the menus, simply remove -world=empty In Arma 2, you could for example write -world=chernorus to preload Chernorus in the game, but I dont know if that will work in SA.

-world=empty causes that, Did you go on to a server? Try the same launch parameters without the -world=empty(if you want to have your character there), As I understand it makes the game load up faster when you start it, since theres no "background world" to load in. Try it again, with -world=empty and go on a server and make sure that dash(-) isnt missing infront of your -nosplash. And change -maxVRAM to -maxVRAM=2047 as you have a 2 GB GPU. EDIT: Updated the front page with more detailed about what -nosplash -skipintro -world=empty do, and added different GPU examples to the examples(1gb, 2gb) as we dont know how much SA support yet.

I think 24/7 daytime servers absolutely defeats the purpose of this game. I dont know what the server base their day/night cycle on(location?). Last night I got 30 min of daytime, and that 30 min I spent on fixing with my settings. But I think something has to be done, as we all live in different timezones. Is it possible to do something like Taviana, where you'd have 4 hours day/night? Or even longer, 6 hours.

Haha, exactly. Thats what confused me about it. Have you launched the game and gone on a server? Read somewhere that that could cause it. And that is the default path, maybe you have changed it? I will try it once I get home from work. Could you explain how it helped you? That could be because of the -nosplash(dont take my word for it). Best would be if you tried the one by one to see what causes it. Please get back with the result :) It caused me a lot of headache when I was trying to figure it out :)

Since every PC/laptop is different, its also impossible to say what works for you. Get Fraps or MSI Afterburner to keep an eye on your FPS, stand in middle of cherno, and lower/raise your settings until you get a FPS/quality ratio that youre happy. If you cant find any settings that your happy with, it could be that your hardware dont manage to put out better(But I have no idea what your hardware is).

Understandable. Finally got home and got to fiddle about with it. Went from 12 to about 25. That I did simply because i forgot that I made my GPU go in to a temporary throttle, and just needed to reboot my laptop for that boost. How ever using the same launch parameters as I do for Arma 2, gave me another 5-10 fps depending on the scenario. -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=2047 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -winxp, still gives the error code. Which is a shame, as it seems that thats the parameter that is giving me the highest FPS boost(at least in the menus, without/with`= 90/164) But it was crashing when I was playing with the settings in game. Havent been able to join any servers now for a good 30-40 min, to see how it works without playing around with the settings.

My apologies, I assumed we were talking about the mod. But to fix a problem thats caused by a launch parameter, seems like it would disappear if you removed the parameter?

Me neither, but nor is it out of interest as SA is build on the A2 engine. And these tricks worked for me with the mod. That gets my hopes up until I get home! Care to specify what you did? Thank you for helping out!

I my self have not experienced anything like that in the mod. We need to wait and see how it works out for people.

Optimization. I have troubles believing that their minimum spec can handle DayZ "out of the box".

Do we know what launch parameters that works? And what to edit in the config for the SA? In the mod i was running 25-40FPS at high settings through out the whole map, in SA I ony got 12FPS on very low. And that was just in Electro. Diffrence between them is that I was running every launchparameter/config setting known to man. Inb4 alpher, not optimized. Nor is my laptop a beast, I know.
