Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.33.114782
Scoobeus replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Branch: Experimental ETA to Stable: 5-7 February 2014 Version: 0.33.114782 New: Art - Permanent "You are Dead" screen -
Unfortunately, yes. Aside from the fact that there are no handrails and a little desync is an instant death warrant, the stairs have broken my legs on two separate occasions in the last several days.

If you want it on, then click "on" to turn on. -
Up to 100k desync on nearly every server!!!
Scoobeus replied to Rushthezeppelin's topic in Troubleshooting
Took me a while to figure out it was BattleEye causing my issues. Couldn't do anything besides run around. No doors, loot, couldn't equip anything etc etc. I pinged servers for mid-20s, then would join only to have either no ping show up or in the 1500s with 100k desync. I joined an experimental 99 slot server that was BattleEye free and guess what? 12 ping and not a damn issue. Until it gets sorted, if you cannot play the game at all like I couldn't then use Filter and select No for BattleEye required. I'm still looking for fixes, but so far nothing is working as a client-side fix. -
I tried the search feature and found nothing relevant to this topic. I don't think this is a "bug", but probably an issue with my rendering settings. From what I understand, player models are supposed to be given precedence over loot models. Basically any player out past 400m disappears and I can only see the loot that they are wearing on their character. So in any long range engagement, I will see a floating backpack and a floating helmet maybe. Anyone know of a solution?

I'm signed for experimental patch testing and it installed this patch. Any idea where the changelog is at so I can find what to test? Thanks. -scoobeus :EDIT: Also if you could make one North American server that would be sweet since you are currently limiting your testers to Europe and they are all pretty much empty.

You have the PERFECT profile picture to go with this statement.

Mythbusters would be a good channel to make as this game gets more complicated. You will have a lot of content to do shows off of as the game continues to progress through alpha and beta. There will be a lot with the crafting system and other things.

I remember once that Rocket said there would be farming in the game. Does anyone know if this is still going to happen? Reason I ask is because I know there is issues with the servers running tons of zombies right now and since the animals are basically zombies to the server, hunting wouldn't be really helpful in increasing the amount of zombies until everything is super optimized. So aside from looting, what other methods could there be for obtaining food?

It's like Christmas every day! Now if only we could get rid of that mouse acceleration :D

do people actually want a complicated medical system?
Scoobeus replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
Of course! How else am I supposed to become the famous doctor of my server that gets paid cans of beans for curing crazy diseases? j/k, I would love to but I would just get shot and have my supplies stolen. No serious, complex medical system is fun, ever play America's Army? That was a pretty good system. -
Why Id like to see a non pvp server or two...
Scoobeus replied to davschall's topic in General Discussion
I understand this. I was in test for this most recent patch and was getting killed on site when I was trying to test out the changelog to see if it worked. After dying a few times with no warning because it was night and I had my flashlight out I just gave up. Some people make it really difficult to alpha test. -
LOL -zombie aggro -run run, vault over a fence -look over my shoulder waiting for it to get stuck -runs straight through the fence oh o-ok

Engine: The „Player uses modified data“ message is removed from CHAT Ah YES! Now I won't have to look down there every time I see the color red. Very excited about this patch. 3 patches in 3 days. Very good work, team. Also question: Design: you can craft splint and fix broken limbs with it With what? Sticks and tape?

I'm literally already bored of the ALPHA. I expected more, Even for an ALPHA Release... Words from a 1,500+ ARMA:II Dayz Community Owner.

A. More control over design for the developers. Same reason so many devs are on kickstarter. d Also "No... Basically what I'm saying is the state the alpha was released in should be alot further with the time they had for a year and more. " Not really, no. They were working with the Arma II engine. You think that engine looks like Unity? LOL. I highly recommend you go play base Arma II right now, then go play DayZ SA. You WILL see where the time went. Assuming you have any real development experience (protip: scripting doesn't count) -

Where the hell is the "delete post" feature? That post was for a different thread, obviously. Congrats. That is nothing actually, but you seem to think it's an accomplishment and that is all that really matters. I'm not going to flex my epeen but you are below bottom rung of most intro level Internet marketers (the ones that did their homework) working CPA/CPC so you really have no bragging rights. You CAN ban people from your DayZ server though, so that is cool. -
Probably mentioned already in this thread, but you can also just use the following: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/dayz/11929/ OP gets some beans for being so helpful. :)

Is this kid serious? Make your own mod mr leet scripting wizard. 21st highest ranked site for a MOD of a video game isn't impressive. I can't even name 21 DayZ community sites. This entire thread looks like a drunken rant I would hear at a bar on a Friday night. The game doesn't have the content you want because they spent all that time rebuilding the Arma II engine. They did a lot and even a little scripter like you should be able to see that and respect that. The content isn't the hard part. The have the base of everything. All they have to do now is copy/paste, rename objects, model them and balance based on feedback. Don't be mad though, you will be able to write your cute little erotic roleplaying mods once they release some tools for you. You sound like a 15 year old who bought a server on Mom's credit card then promoted it through a Blogspot because you were too stupid to install a WordPress plugin. -
So it never downloaded through Steam, but I have a dot crosshair and ingame it says it's the new version BUT I am still able to play old version servers. Cache is verified and there is no mention of the download in the Steam downloads. Very confused. EDIT - Disregard, the second I open my mouth the answer presents itself. It WAS an invisible download though, just verified it through other means.

Only everyone else. Go check the stickied link for patch notes; it's being taken care of shortly. -
I did too, but that doesn't change the fact that I still have no idea what is killing me. Maybe a little less descriptive whines could help "You are hungry", "You are very hungry", "You are dying from starvation" "You are thirsty", "You are very thirsty", "You are dying from dehydration" "Your skin is warm", "Your skin is burning", "You are dying from fever" I don't even know what other survival stats are in-game, but they could all follow a similar format for clarity. They could also be combined like such: "You are dying from starvation and you are very thirsty." -or- "Your skin is burning and you are thirsty. " Should help cut down on the text spam in that area.
-
Any ETA on public release? Not meaning to sound offensive but even if it is very broken it will be an improvement over what we have right now IMO.
-
Good post. Can you gather blood from corpses?
-
The system really does have potential, but the "whines" are too vague/general right now. I would like to see the stuff in one line instead of spread all over the place. "You are thirsty and feel ill" Maybe a max of two whines per line? Also move it away from "Username is using a different data file" because it's also red and keeps making me think I'm dying from something when it's just a data file thing. Yeah though, I like the whole idea and will love it once it is executed perfectly.
