Why i KOS most of the time.

two of my last 3 encouters ended in civil yet tense backing off. First I approached an armed player, told him I had eyes on him and to keep running forward and he wouldn't be shot. He complied, I backed off, bunked down on the side of the road to see if he was going to double back for a sneak attack, he didn't, I moved on. The second encounter was the exact but a total flip, got held up, told to move off or be shot, complied and all was well. The third encounter sadly ended poorly for both parties. I was looting NWAF (I always come here prepared and willing to die) when I walked into the back of the fire station. Two players armed with M4's standing in the stairwell, out numbered I got nervous fast, figured better get them now then risk it. Got the sneak on them, first player clean kill, me and the second player exchanged shots, I caught him in the chest and side and he hit me in the head. I'm not sure if he survived, but I felt sufficently happy with 1 kill, 1 wounded. KOS is often a flightly nervous reaction for me, when I feel seriously threatened I'll fire first out of self preservation. And sometimes when properly gearead with a nice rifle and a scope I'll highway bandit in hopes of scoring some extra loot or for the thrill of hunt. But mostly, I'm a scavanger like the rest.

Does killing make you a killer?

    "Endgame" concept ideas

I know a lot of people have raised the point that Dayz lacks an "endgame", something to keep you busy once you're fully gearead and loaded with supplies. Which when people get, they generally turn sniping and general banditry. I think a cool idea for at least giving players another option would be crafting/repairing machines/vehicles that would require a large time input, extreme scavenging and a communal effort. I know this is likely kinda of tough considering i'm sure the standalone wants to be moving further away from the military vibe of Arma. But I think some sort of APC that would take a massive time investment to get repaired would be great, maybe a mounted .50 cal turret on it. Something that looks welded together and stitched from parts of other vehicles. I know a lot of people will hate this sort of idea, but my main point is that their should be other options from groups after gearing up, other then murdering and sniping. It would make the game more enjoyable for vets and might save the skin of a few bambi's if less bandits are sniping the coast and hiding in barracks. :p

No loot, or do I just suck?

A fucking men. It's like I'm listening to a whiney child complain. It doesn't help our brave heros can only survive within food or drink for like an hour.

    First Player Encounter in DayZ

Let's remeber at this point most players lack weapons outside maybe a melee weapon or a small arm with a few precious shots. Even then, in my experience most people I've met are totally unarmed. Given loot table tweaks, spawn locations discovered and so own, the murder and blood will flow again soon. The third player I encountered shot me in the back absolutely screaming at me over voice. "DIE MOTHER FUCKER, EAT IT, EAT IT, I DESTROYED YOU." Then 20 minutes later the same guy I heard saying "fuck, 2 hours in this game and I already want to cheat" he sounded like him and his buddy were trying different scripts to get hacks going. So my faith isn't exactly restored yet.
