A serious discussion about Combat Logging, Gear Hopping and Spawn Kills
Noctiluxx replied to TimM1983's topic in General Discussion
WIth 40 person servers, its likely you could end up on a full server, and therefore, not have your gear until a space becomes available. which sucks. for combat, I like the log out timer.. and better yet, you're player should be unable to move once you activate the timer. Want to leave? find a hiding spot, and leave, not run around like a madman dodging things until the timer runs out... if you alt-f4, then you're character stays alive for 30 seconds in its last spot on the server until it allows you to 'disconnect.' For gear.. I don't know what would be best, but I like the un-predictabilty of respawning somewhere else (not 4kms away, like you suggested) but within reason that it could take some time to re-loot a spot. maybe your character wanders on its own when you log out (not activly on a server, but like how GTA5 does between 3 main characters) Best solution, randomize the loot better.. make it so some bases are empty. its just as possible as a house being empty. As for spawn kill.. pick a new (more hidden) spot to spawn.. I would like it however if it maintained your body positon, prone vs standing. -
yes, a 'eat all' button would be nice for any canned good.

[OUTDATED] DayZ: The Ultimate Loot Route

Server hoppers make any low population server still a threat. especially there. I'm not arguing. just stating the facts, so when you're newly guided players get blown away for walking in there on a 5/40 person server, they know why. -

Not to mention the number of fresh spawns that know fully what they are getting into, and just run in there swinging fists and bats hoping to get lucky.. shot 5 of those guys in there today alone. -
Loot isn't that spread out actually.. How often have you found a gun in anything but a firestation, military base or hospital (what firefighters have guns. or doctors?) I agree the spawn points would help, but encoraging people to go to places other then just military bases would be nice too. I'd much rather get into a PVP conflict in a town then in an open airfield.

Chill out says the guy who starts a sentence with Jesus fucking christ the day after Christmas. I know you're trying to help people, but sending people there is a death wish. Fact. -
vision is black and white, and you're ability to use the search bar is also broken. Low blood.

couldn't agree more to be honest.

God I cannot wait until loot is much more random, sparse and forces people to spread out. Bolota is now a deathmatch zone, and will get worse once newer players see this. I've said this several times, I honestly think that the military bases should have a much lower opportunity to spawn a full kit then they currently do. The thought is for me that, during whatever event took place to kill most civilians and create zombies, the military would have been deployed, leaving a good chance mostof their equipment is gone, and spread out. Chances are also, that civilians before our time in game may have looted the military corpses, and taken some supplies back to their stronghold (perhaps a hotel, a tent in the woods, or something other then the super obvious military base). Brings a bit more variety in the game, keeps it difficult, and encourages exploration, which is rewarded with a variety of loot everywhere you go. I hope they keep military loot sparse, and distribute it across the map. Once they do this, 'how to gear up' guides will be virtually useless, and people will actually have to think for themselves. can't wait. -
I hate the idea of percentages.. I have no clue what percentage of hunger I currently have, nor do i have the technology to figure it out. a vague idea, yes... not that hungry. but could eat a light snack. I like the idea of the colour gradient, however, fewer options so you only have a ballpark of what range you're in, not 'oh snap its purple, im at %15 hunger!'

Alpha indeed.. I cannot wait until they spread the loot out a bit more, so the airfield next to cherno is no longer the instant deathmatch its become. I think spreading out the spawn points a bit more could provide a bit more spread.. that and adding more players to the sever (once possible) Although I do agree that its a bit odd seeing unarmed players trying to take out guys with guns, its interesting to see those who have nothing to loose for someone who has something to loose to put it all on the line. I had a loaded pistol and some dude came from behind me with a knife.. he got me once, then was force fed a few rounds to the chest. Searched his body, nothing but base clothing, a knife and flashlight. So, it would have sucked big time to loose that one, but its interesting to fight someone who's literally got nothing to loose.

fast and highly observant zombies are bad for the game

I personally am ok with their response time and speed.. just obvious things like clipping through walls and such.. and otherwiese im good.. Just now, i rang off a shot in the airfield, and instantly 5 of them came for me from quite a distance.. it was fun. -

As of last night.. I've noticed a slight increase in Zombie count and awareness on several servers. It was awesome, and a good struggle to have as a new character. -
Alright, you're turning me a bit.. I like more immersive stuff, mini stories, much better then books, although still cool. It would be great if each different source had variations on the story.. would make for some interesting conversations 'I heard it started in the water, yet you're saying it was airborne?'

I made a post about an instant camera (it got 0 replies, oh well) either camera would be an absolute blast! I'm a camera nut, so im a bit biased.
