I'm gonna be server jumping a bit to figure out if it will solve my getting kicked from server issues. Any who can tip me of a friendly UK server? Aka, where as few as possible shoot on sight, and is more into exploring the scenery, figuring out loot spots, getting adjusted, etc? I don't really have patience for the constant war-zoning, while trying to get used to the game-play and surviving the bugs. It's fresh and problematic, I just wanna live long enough to get used to it :P + if the servers seem relatively problem-free, not a lot of people getting kicked out or experiencing a lot of similar issues.

Awesome, I will :)

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
Morgankaines replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
I defended the game, and I am new here too :P -
I don't care what they do, as long as nighttime doesn't follow normal night/day, because that means I'll not get to play in daylight at all due to work. And if they wanna keep it so darned dark, we are going to need to be able to play a bit in daytime, so that we then can find whatever we need to survive night!

So, second round of gaming, new player encounters
Morgankaines posted a topic in New Player Discussion
Played again yesterday, tried putting the game on as soon as I came home from work and was lucky enough to experience 5 minutes of daylight. Before it went dark again. God, it's really starting to bother me, because the game looks so good, yet I never get to see much of it before nighttime comes. And it lasts all evening/night, so patience doesn't help either. It's just a constant running around in full darkness, never seeing much of anything. On the positive side, met two other players yesterday. One was from a bit of a distance (yet close enough so that I saw him clearly). Either he was a friendly, or he didn't bother chasing me as I ran sideways to avoid him. He stopped and stared at me as I left though, so he did see me. But, I didn't wanna take a chance trying to talk to him. The second encounter I thought myself dead for sure. Entered a house, relatively unarmed (had a damaged baseball bat), it seemed empty, it had entrances in both ends of the hall. Both doors were open. I enter the door after having checked out a room, and suddenly see a guy standing completely still two meters away, armed with a rifle and pointing it at me. I thought; "Damn, now that I finally found some food to avoid starvation." (had been starving for a while due to the first 3 cities I found being completely empty) I didn't even back off, just froze there with my heart in my throat while being aimed at. To my great surprise, he just stood there pointing his weapon at me. I back off a few meters. He still doesn't shoot, so I turn on my tail and run. So, to whomever it was who could have killed me, but didn't, thanks a bunch! Could have been he was out of ammo, and simply wanted to scare me off from attacking him (I wouldn't have regardless, but he couldn't know that), but I choose to believe he was a nice guy who was simply cautious. -
It isn't fun to play a game when it's constantly either black/white (the gamma solution) or so pitch black that you can't see anything at all. It's wasted graphics (I still haven't been able to see the game in daylight) and very irritating. And using a flash light is a death sentence, people can see you a mile away and hunt you down, so I never use a flashlight nor a head light. If night time lasted shorter, so that I could at least for an hour or two get to play a little in daytime, then I wouldn't complain. At pitch dark you can't see items, making looting almost impossible without gamma switch. I don't use it against other players (thus far, I avoid other players as well as I can) only to get the little food/water I've been able to get my hands on. Because with how quickly you get hungry/thirsty, you have to be on constant look out for food. An example on the visibility, I had the gamma switched up, and still didn't see the zombie before I bumped into him, screaming like a turd :P So yeah, I get that nighttime is supposed to be dark, but a little less, so that you can at least move around, and switch more often on day/night so that we who work daytime can actually get to play some in the light too, that would be good.

Are you always getting hungry / thirsty too fast again? Here is why and how to solve this
Morgankaines replied to nudelwalker's topic in New Player Discussion
First of all, I think we should spawn with at least 75 % fullness in both, considering you have to run quite a bit to get away from the spawning location and to loot sites that hasn't been raided already, sometimes quite damned far. Second, I drank until I got frustrated, and was still thirsty! So, not sure it fixes things. At one point I drank 10 times, and still was thirsty a minute after. My woman is a whiny c***, that't the conclusion I eventually came up with, so at this point whenever she starts complaining, I go "Deal with it, woman!". Or, "Shut up!". Lol, we're not on friendly terms at this point :P -
Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
Morgankaines replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
Besides, less money = less quality. If people contribute by paying, these guys can make us a great game, and not ONLY that, they also have a feed back system (a great one!) which allows us to show exactly what we need, what isn't working, what's irritating, etc. They have a great set-up in which users and makers can co-operate to make the experience something we'll be happy with, and that's a whole lot better than the game coming out, everyone complaining cause; "this isn't how we wanted it". + in the long run we get it for 1/3 of full price! It's really nothing to whine about. God knows a lot of game-makers could do with listening a bit more to the people, these guys are doing a great job, and really listening on what is needed. So, I don't get the issue at all. -
How to fix being unconscious
Morgankaines replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in New Player Discussion
Lol, then it's not nice, cause then they might as well have re-spawned :P -
The North is almost empty
Morgankaines replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in New Player Discussion
Problem is, some of us run like hell as soon as we see a flashlight. God I needed a can-opener last night, but after getting killed once and chased another, I decided the best was to avoid other players altogether. It's hard enough to stay alive as it is :P -

Rofl, brilliant. Or they're looking for their unconscious friends :P -
Sometimes I hit the internet +refresh +fiddle with servers, and it just won't work. Only solution I have found so far, is restarting the game (and steam). Then usually it works straight away!

How to fix being unconscious
Morgankaines replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks! Because the unconscious feature is bugged to heckers, lol. I made two attempts to wake up by myself, gave up and shot myself eventually. Nice to hear that someone would be nice enough to help out in-game though, that's pretty awesome! -

After having played with a friend, I agree the unconscious issue takes a lot of the fun out. Especially cause it happens so easily! And then you're basically left with no choice other than respawn, cause who bothers waiting for 45 minutes while your buddy has nothing to do. 10-15 minutes would be fine, but almost an hour?? It's def. not working. Also wish you couldn't eat and drink, and then be thirsty and hungry again 2 seconds later. In real life people don't have to eat every fifth second. Gets more annoying when you start out, have just died, and you have to search forever to find anything to eat. -
Only reason I found my way yesterday was reading signs, finding the coast, railroad, anything else of landmarks that could help me figure out where I was... My friend knows the map in her head from before, but if you haven't memorized it or played a shit ton, it's harder.
-
I like that attitude! And I certainly won't be retaliating by shooting stuff on sight, just cause i got KoS'ed. I got killed once, and shot myself twice yesterday. Sure it's a bit annoying to lose the stuff, but all in all, it's so easy to die due to the bad food/drink loot balance anyways (mostly rotten fruit and canned stuff, so if you don't find a can opener), so getting killed doesn't really bother me much now. It's more the fact that it's more fun to explore, loot and kill zombies (killing zombies with a fireaxe was awesome), and even more so if it's possible to find people to run around with. The way it was on the server I was on yesterday, it was pretty much a death sentence to come across another player. Meaning, I ended up sneaking past most I saw :P
-
And if this was a completely new player, who hardly knew how to get up from the ground, still a completely fair fight? ;)
-
Yup, conclusion so far, after being allowed 6 hours of gaming yesterday without losing connection or getting kicked from the server, is that people are generally D bags. If you have good weapons, chances are they'll leave you alone. My first player encounter went like this: I see a guy. He has no guns/rifles, etc. I myself have an M4 or something similar. I consider him not a threat, so decide to let him be (as nice as I am). I show that I am friendly, and backs off. The little shite attacks me anyway, I try to put my gun out for self-defense as he comes closer, but the damned thing bugs up, so instead of getting it out it looked like I was doing something vaguely sexual with it, and repeating the motion over and over. Which was ridiculous, cause I had just tested it on a rabbit, and it worked perfectly fine then, lol. So I end up being murdered by the ass that I had just refrained from shooting to be nice. Lesson was, I am pointing my gun at anything that moves from now on. Not that I'll shoot on sight, but keep them in my sight in case I need to shoot, if you catch my drift. Next encounter went better. Re-spawned next to someone who was hiding in the grass. I ignored him, he ignored me and we went each our way.

I don't particularly like the day/night system, I think. Working days, it gets dark around 3 pm around here. Meaning I'll have to play in the dark most of the time :( On a bright side, it's eerie and interesting, even if I can't see squat!

With me I would really like the server issues to be fixed, as soon as possible. It's a lot easier to overlook bugs, if you at least get to play it for more than 5-10 minutes at the time before you get kicked. I also agree that the HUD was a bit hard to read, especially at night time. It would be nice having better control of what you need, and a little easier time knowing in advance if something is wrong. My computer should be able to handle pretty good games, runs most MMOs with no problem, as is my net, and yet it still seem to have issues with this game (performance), so hopefully that will be better as well. Otherwise I just haven't gotten it tested out enough to know yet. -
Regarding the people complaining.
Morgankaines replied to ProfessorShanks (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I know that I can love it, and will, when it is improved. Which will happen in time. For now I am content with testing and complaining politely, lol. Realistic expectations usually does the trick ;) -
That looks great! Wish it looked that nice on my computer :( Or, since I have only seen it at night: Hope it looks that nice on my comp :P
-
Worst part is, the D bags almost make the game more realistic. In the real world, if a zombie apocalypse happened, a lot of d-bags would be doing exactly these things. Exception is, if a kid swore at me and chased me around with a crow-bar, I'd be able to beat the crap out of him, not impeded by clumsy controls :P
-
I take comfort knowing the money will be spent perfecting the game. At least make it enjoyable. But I will confess, it feels a bit sour since I haven't gotten to play much yet, due to certain issues (fine, fine, I will stop whining about this now, I just want to play it sooo badly, lol. My geek is out of control)

Morgankaines replied to ProfessorShanks (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Hm, I agree a bit with both sides here. They won't be able to make the end-result great, unless people let them know what is/is not working with it. After all, that's the point of an Alpha version, isn't it? At the same time, reporting bugs, letting the team know what is wrong/does not work should be done politely, realistically and in an all around decent manner. Long rants about how sucky "the game" is now is pointless, as there's a huge disclaimer stating this before you buy the game. We've been clearly warned this will be flawed, buggy and highly irritating. So, makes little sense to rant about it. I try to let whomever is listening know what isn't working for me, hoping it will contribute to making the game a good experience in the end. And I might post a frustrated "Please help me make my damned game work" at some point if my server issues consists, but all in all, I was warned and can only blame myself, really.
