    That's a facile analogy. By that logic nothing Bohemia says matters as long as they also said something sensible somewhere else. So far your examples are "mind control" and "jump into a raging fire". They hyped the game, put out trailers, partnered with live streams, sold collector's editions, etc. They technically warned the game would be buggy but it's a minor point.

    So? We're talking about the message Bohemia is sending to their customer, not magic and mind controlling. The message Bohemia has sent is "BUY NOW", loud and clear.

    That's kind of the point, labeling something as "early access" shields the developer from criticism. That fact FAR out weighs any few who might read the disclaimers. Just look at the results, it boosts sales to label your game as early access. All of the top sellers are in alpha stage.

    People will always defend, and even a small number will seem loud. By all accounts the initial sales were going to be outstanding no matter what.

    $30 is asking a lot for something that doesn't work yet. Hell, $60 is asking a lot for a game that does. CS:GO is half the price and has twice as many players. Heck, I even got BF4 cheaper than DayZ Alpha. Nobody in their right mind preorders anything anymore, so we can throw that little quip out the window.

    It's working out great for everyone right now. That's why the top sellers are nothing but "early access". What possible reason does any developer have to release something that isn't called "early access"? Like I said, it boosts sales and customer satisfaction because they expect more later.

    Wrong, retail/release MMO's are already expected to be updated (and they are). Even the free ones are.

    Also, come on guys, you only spent $30. Even though that's the full price of other retail MMO's, like FFXI, you should be patient and wait another 1 to 2 years before expecting this one to work. Just look at the tags. It's labeled "indie". That means Bohemia Interactive only has 200 employees and needs your support. Be sure to buy the Supporter Edition™ and pay extra!

    Only in this day and age does labeling a game alpha boost sales and customer satisfaction. If the game was half the price and labeled release would they have as many white knights?

    Agreed. Don't talk about anything negative on the forums. People need to read the fine print before buying and ignore the trailers, hype & giant BUY NOW logo on the front page of the website.

    Yeah guys, seriously, stop mentioning and posting about things you don't like. Negative feedback during a development stage is blind and stupid. Just shut up for at least another year or until sales slow down. The devs are aware that the game is missing a ton of features, there's no need to constantly remind people who might buy the game.

    I played DayZ Mod back in October 2012 when it was still considered Alpha. That was and still is better than SA.

    There will only be 3 guns during the alpha, which according to Bohemia, will last at least a year. 3 guns for a year :)

    Nighttime would be fine if there were chemlights & flares, or if you spawned with a flashlight. The SA is simply leagues behind where the mod was a year ago.
