Absolutely, that bit is just as important. See the manufacturers recommended PSU I'd say around 650w is going to be your minimum target.Obviously you'll get lots of help here too if you need it.

You say you may have played the mod a few minutes but you know Chernarus? Not sure I follow.. The point is, you need to look for things. If the whole map spawned loot in every building then you would take away the 'need'. People concentrate on the higher yield areas and buildings because it's general regarded as easier to find things, but it comes at a price, usually your life. The day the map is full of stuff everywhere is the day I stop playing.

Sounds like you may have an overheating graphics card. Have you inspected it for dust buildup? I had exactly what you are describing once. Removal and cleaning fixed it. If it's the boxed in cooler type then you 'may' even need to remove this to get right into it.

The community here at Dayz forums are I think pretty spot on, real helpful lot. Shame it doesn't always reflect that out in the zone..

I'm really enjoying the Alpha and played only a few hours so far. Most of that time has been spent recovering CTDT's, (my machine specs as below). Anyone else with this problem or could point me in the direction of a fix/workaround so I can at least spend some time tweaking it for myself? Thanks.

OK, I found an updated soundcard driver today for my system that had been waiting forever for and updated it tonight. Whilst I was at it I also updated my BIOS and chipset drivers for good measure. My random CTDT's 'seem' to have stopped. The point of the post is for anyone running older hardware who may be suffering in some area or with similar problems. Don't forget that it's not all about graphics cards, RAM and CPU's. Yes they are a major part in any system of course, but don't forget the basics and the base level architecture of your machine. Updating these type of drivers just might sort your problems too. Just thought it may help somebody..

For Android users.. I use my mobile to run the map whilst playing. The guys at Dayz Central have just released the best looking SA companion for your phone. Lots of info about weapons, items, disases, the lot. Very good app and the best mobile one I've lookedt at. Just found this lot all in one small location: Shown are the Hoxton mask, UK tactical vest, shoulder holster and the walkie talkie, pistol, 1 full mag for the pistol 15 rounds, the woodland trousers as shown, a set of TSKO camo trousers and damaged military boots. Wasn't anything like a military location. All from 4 levels over only about 40m/2. Stuff in the same location that I had to leave behind: Another walkie talkie!, 2 more holsters, gas lamp, handcuff keys, US tactical vest, 37x.45ACP rounds, a bat and a head torch. All that and NO backpack or one to be found!

Well, the WT is supposed to be rare (?) just wanted the screenshot. The ammo was wrong cal for my pistol so I just kept the mag of 15. By the time I'd done I was wiped out for space so it was needs must.

You'll all need to be referring to the same map using the same scale and grid reference scale. Use 3 digits per axis for better accuracy (6 figure reference).

I guess there's two trains of thought here, in game ambiance and 'titles that suit' or would be a good backing track for an action packed Dayz Video.. As I turn all in game music off I'll just suggest my choices for the latter. Please bear in mind that I'm probably one of the oldest here too, and my choices reflect that, but hey as my 13 y/o now knows, old doesn't mean shit! Warriors of the wasteland - F. G. T. H Troops of tomorrow - The Exploited Total Invasion - Killing Joke Be quick or be dead - Iron Maiden Run to the hills - Iron Maiden Take this life - In Flames Killers - Motorhead Prolly think of some more at some point.. -
