thank you for the input...i just txted him to try to get more info and he did say it was boot camp. so is it as simple as isntalling it ad running the game or will he need to modify video drivers and stuff? -
great write up dude! while i dont play too much at night, i know what you mean. very desolate feeling for sure.

Dell 7010 SFF (hand me down computer) i7 3770 @3.40GHz 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz i added the best card i could find that would fit in this case which was low profile Saphire HD7750 1GB DDR5 250GB HDD game runs decent but not where i'd like it to be. below is what i found works best for my system. this game is strange as if i turn everything down low, it runs worse! i'm getting on average 40-50 fps in main Cherno and other towns but those damn apartment buildings bog it down to 25-30. in the open its close to 60. Vsync ENABLED Textures are all on AUTO and VERY HIGH Object, Terrain, Clouds, and Shadows are all on VERY LOW as for rendering i have antialaising DISABLED, edge smoothing SMAA HIGH, hdr quality VERY LOW, ambient occlusion DISABLED, post process LOW

Dean Hall himself saying it needs "serious optimization"
mjf6866 posted a topic in General Discussion
for those worried that the game will not speed up, i found a youtube clip of Dean playing in the Cherno apartment complexes and him saying that it was "sucking frames" and in need of "serious optimization." it didnt even look that slow in the video to me. i'm not sure when this was recorded or if it was posted here before, but it makes me feel a little better that maybe i wont need a monster PC to run this on higher settings. scroll to about the 25:00 mark. -

i plan on building a PC late this year or possibly early 2015 (mainly for this game). what are your specs right now Weparo so i know what i'll have to build towards? also, do you know if its possible to run the standalone in RamDisk? if so, can you give me a quick run down if you dont mind? thanks -
has anyone had any luck getting the SA version to work in a RamDisk?

all the tutorials i found online are for the mod. so has anyone successfully gotten it to work? thank you -
the longer you are in a general spot, the less mouse lag and better fps you get? i know it sounds weird and its not the normal loading time, but i spawned into my nice little cozy spot i have in Cherno and after about 10-15 min of crouching in my spot, i instantly had zero mouse lag and very smooth game play. later, i had to disconnect and reconnect to the same server and it did the same thing. the hard drive is calmed down by that point so its not thrashing the drive. ive tried turning mouse smoothing off or on, does not matter. wonder whats going on? could it be the server i'm on? here are my specs: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 16GB DDR3 1GB HD7750 DDR5 GPU 250 GB HDD 1920x1080 mostly high settings redering on low antialaising disabled

Weparo, would this work for me? i do have 16GB of RAM...
-
hmm ok, thanks. i saw a youtube video of someone putting the mod into a RAMdisk setup, but i read on here that the standalone doesnt work the same way? is that true? have you done it, and if so what method did you use?

What are you most looking forward too for Full Release

system performance optimizations -
so what are your specs and how high of settings can you run it on? what is the fps like in the bigger cities? like the apartment complex on the outskirts of Cherno?
-
has anyone tried this RAMdisk trick?

i've fallen in love with this game since i got the stand alone. i never got to play the mod, i've been out of the PC gaming world a while and just was given a dell optiplex small form factor 7010 with an i7 3770 @ 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and an HD7750 GPU (thats the biggest that would fit in this case) and while i can play the game on mostly medium to low settings with all the rendering off except for FXAA set to high (the apartment building make my system CHUG like you wouldnt believe, but everywhere else its pretty damn smooth), i would really like to be able to run everything on high to get the full experience of the game as its meant to be seen. i think i will be building a new PC from scratch and giving this system to my brother so he can play too. (he's hooked just from watching the Frankie videos on youtube). so should i wait a while before doing so? has there been anything said on when the game might be done? what graphics cards should i look at and are there any on the way that i should wait for? i dont want to build a monster gaming pc now only to have it NOT be able to run the final product on max settings! thanks for any info or suggestions in advance!

building a system tailored to this game
mjf6866 replied to mjf6866's topic in Technology/Programming
hey guys, thanks for the pointers. i have read over all the possible tweaks for the game and have done them all. its running probably as best as it can right now on my current system. guess i'll just wait to build a new pc. -
anyone know what the default system settings are for these in the cfg file? i started monkeying with mine to get it to run better and would like to know what the default settings are for testing purposes. shadowZDistance sceneComplexity viewDistance preferredObjectViewDistance and if anyone that know describe what each does in terms of visual effects, that would be much appreciated too! thanks
-
wouldnt even think to do that, thank you! i'm wondering if that Razer game booster program does the same thing cause i'm running that too and it puts the PC in "game mode" where it automatically disables backround apps to focus on the game you are playing.
-
i turned my scentComplexity from 500000 down to 400000 and that made a difference for me! i can run everything mostly on "normal" with the rendering stuff disabled and its VERY playable. my specs: Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 8GB DDR3 Radeon 7750 1GB DDR5

Cabinets and refrigerators in houses and vehicles? Will sys req change?
mjf6866 posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I'm new to the dayz universe and I did some searching but couldn't find exact answers... Can you open the cabinets or fridges in houses? Will cars and trucks or any other vehicles be added to the final game? Is there any other features that are not in the alpha that will be there later? Will the system requirements change down the road when other things get implemented? Thank you -
Ok I signed up and added my note! I'm new to playing dayz and I'm hooked! Would love to see it running smoother though :)

How do we log into the feedback tracker? It doesn't recognize my username and pw for the forums. My fps when I hit the areas with the apartment complexes drops from 45-60 to 20-25 with everything on low-medium and it just takes me out of the immersion. Would love to see it fixed for the final product!

what were the other setting you had on each subscreen for video configs if you dont mind posting? thanks

is it safe to assume optimized framerates at official release?
mjf6866 posted a topic in New Player Discussion
my system: CPU: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz Windows 7 SP1 64-bit RAM: 8GB DDR3 GPU: Radeon HD7750 1GB DDR5 240GB HDD while i know my GPU is probably bottlenecking this game a bit, and i know this is a very early Alpha release of the game, can we expect better frame rates as time goes on? my computer normally screams through a lot of new games with settings maxed out and i REALLY am looking forward to this game in its final stages, but dont want to have to turn everything down to get it to run right. as of now i have to turn everything on low or normal with basically all the rendering options to disabled to get about 20fps in small towns, but will get over 35 in open areas. in the city its really bad. i have tried all the startup parameters and toyed with as many combos in the settings as i could. i mean its playable, but just looks like a 10 year old game at that point. this is the first time i've actually payed for a game thats not finished yet, so i really dont know how these things go. does it improve over time? has anyone else played an early alpha stage game and then by the time of the official release, it ran a lot smoother? be easy on me if this has been discussed, i searched but didnt find the exact answer i'm looking for. thanks guys
