  1. the longer you are in a general spot, the less mouse lag and better fps you get? i know it sounds weird and its not the normal loading time, but i spawned into my nice little cozy spot i have in Cherno and after about 10-15 min of crouching in my spot, i instantly had zero mouse lag and very smooth game play. later, i had to disconnect and reconnect to the same server and it did the same thing. the hard drive is calmed down by that point so its not thrashing the drive. ive tried turning mouse smoothing off or on, does not matter. wonder whats going on? could it be the server i'm on? here are my specs: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 16GB DDR3 1GB HD7750 DDR5 GPU 250 GB HDD 1920x1080 mostly high settings redering on low antialaising disabled

    has anyone else noticed this?

hmm ok, thanks. i saw a youtube video of someone putting the mod into a RAMdisk setup, but i read on here that the standalone doesnt work the same way? is that true? have you done it, and if so what method did you use?

    New computer finally!!

so what are your specs and how high of settings can you run it on? what is the fps like in the bigger cities? like the apartment complex on the outskirts of Cherno?

    Possible FPS Enhancer

has anyone tried this RAMdisk trick?
  7. anyone know what the default system settings are for these in the cfg file? i started monkeying with mine to get it to run better and would like to know what the default settings are for testing purposes. shadowZDistance sceneComplexity viewDistance preferredObjectViewDistance and if anyone that know describe what each does in terms of visual effects, that would be much appreciated too! thanks

    Possible FPS Enhancer

wouldnt even think to do that, thank you! i'm wondering if that Razer game booster program does the same thing cause i'm running that too and it puts the PC in "game mode" where it automatically disables backround apps to focus on the game you are playing.

i turned my scentComplexity from 500000 down to 400000 and that made a difference for me! i can run everything mostly on "normal" with the rendering stuff disabled and its VERY playable. my specs: Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 8GB DDR3 Radeon 7750 1GB DDR5
  10. I'm new to the dayz universe and I did some searching but couldn't find exact answers... Can you open the cabinets or fridges in houses? Will cars and trucks or any other vehicles be added to the final game? Is there any other features that are not in the alpha that will be there later? Will the system requirements change down the road when other things get implemented? Thank you

GPU / CPU Low Utilization @ Objects

Ok I signed up and added my note! I'm new to playing dayz and I'm hooked! Would love to see it running smoother though :)

GPU / CPU Low Utilization @ Objects

How do we log into the feedback tracker? It doesn't recognize my username and pw for the forums. My fps when I hit the areas with the apartment complexes drops from 45-60 to 20-25 with everything on low-medium and it just takes me out of the immersion. Would love to see it fixed for the final product!

what were the other setting you had on each subscreen for video configs if you dont mind posting? thanks
  14. my system: CPU: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz Windows 7 SP1 64-bit RAM: 8GB DDR3 GPU: Radeon HD7750 1GB DDR5 240GB HDD while i know my GPU is probably bottlenecking this game a bit, and i know this is a very early Alpha release of the game, can we expect better frame rates as time goes on? my computer normally screams through a lot of new games with settings maxed out and i REALLY am looking forward to this game in its final stages, but dont want to have to turn everything down to get it to run right. as of now i have to turn everything on low or normal with basically all the rendering options to disabled to get about 20fps in small towns, but will get over 35 in open areas. in the city its really bad. i have tried all the startup parameters and toyed with as many combos in the settings as i could. i mean its playable, but just looks like a 10 year old game at that point. this is the first time i've actually payed for a game thats not finished yet, so i really dont know how these things go. does it improve over time? has anyone else played an early alpha stage game and then by the time of the official release, it ran a lot smoother? be easy on me if this has been discussed, i searched but didnt find the exact answer i'm looking for. thanks guys
  15. oh, ok...i didnt get the chance to play the mod, just the Arma2 demo. i'm new to this game :)

    Possible FPS Enhancer

just wanted to share my setup that i played around with to get playable frame rates and have the game look nice too. as some people have mentioned, if you turn everything down it runs worse  so here is my middle ground compromise: My Specs: CPU: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz Windows 7 SP1 64-bit RAM: 8GB DDR3 GPU: Radeon HD7750 1GB DDR5 240GB HDD Video: 1440x810 (75%) VSync: Enabled Quality: All set to Normal Textures: 1024 video memory detail: Normal filtering: Normal Rendering: antialising: Low Alpha coverage: Disabled Edge Smoothing: FXAA High HDR Quality: Very Low Ambient Occlusion: Disabled Postprocess Quality: Very Low i'm also running this startup paremeter: nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=1024 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 with those settings i can get mainly 30-35ish in small towns, 26-29 in the main city (for a few seconds every once and a while, but mostly get about 31-33 there) with the tall buildings and 40-55 fps in the open areas and still have it look like a modern game. while those are all playable (to me at least), i'm really hoping to achieve at least 30 at all times in the city which would equate to higher numbers everywhere else too after they optimize (dev team....PLEASE OPTIMIZE!)
  17. you are right about it being weird...i did some tinkering with the settings last night and i found a pretty good compromise. again, here is my PC specs: CPU: Intel i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz Windows 7 SP1 64-bit RAM: 8GB DDR3 GPU: Radeon HD7750 1GB DDR5 240GB HDD Video: 1440x810 (75%) VSync: Enabled Quality: All set to Normal Textures: 1024 video memory detail: Normal filtering: Normal Rendering: antialising: Low Alpha coverage: Disabled Edge Smoothing: FXAA High HDR Quality: Very Low Ambient Occlusion: Disabled Postprocess Quality: Very Low i'm also running this startup paremeter: nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=1024 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 with those settings i can get mainly 30-35ish in small towns, upper 20s in the main city (for a few seconds every once and a while, but mostly get about 31-33 there) with the tall buildings and 40-55 fps in the open areas and still have it look like a modern game. while those are all playable (to me at least), i'm really hoping to achieve at least 30 in the city which would equate to higher numbers everywhere else too after they optimize (dev team....PLEASE OPTIMIZE!) :)
  18. Ahh that's a bummer. My PC runs Arma2 flawlessly, and I had really high hopes of playing this at that same level. :( I would be perfectly happy if it could hold 35 steady on normal settings.
