    22-30 FPS with GTX 780?

didnt rocket tweet a few weeks back that his dev team have been in contact with some hardware manufacturers and they apparently have given input on how to get more out of the engine with newer hardware or something?....i'm gonna go see if i can dig that up... edit: ok i found this here... Dean Hall ‏@rocket2guns Significant changes in testing on internal version today. Major graphics optimization for clients in testing, major server optimization also he goes on to say: Dean Hall ‏@rocket2guns Feb 12 @panzerschreckDE engine optimization, based on feedback from hardware manufacturers on their assessment of our usage of their hardware
  2. does anyone know if we will get more varied stages of zombies like "freshly dead and pale" all the way to "gaunt and decayed and slow moving"? wasnt sure if the current zombies are placeholders or if they will all be fast movers. thanks

will there be creepier zombies later on?

also another thought on zombies...i think they would be a much bigger threat if you had to shoot them in the head or beat them over the head.

will there be creepier zombies later on?

yeah, i want to see some bloody ones coming at us. imagine searching a building at night and turn the corner only to see a rotten face with blood around the mouth starin' at you!

will there be creepier zombies later on?

damn...i was hoping for some classic Romero style zombies and "walking dead" types when you see a zombie way off in the distance before they see you, they are doing the classic "zombie walk" which makes me think they are dead and not just infected people.

    Major optimisations being tested!

wow, thats good news! seeing rocket's reply it appears that they are addressing the low % that the GPU is used in graphically intense areas. this is very good, me thinks
  7. is there any way to see what the IP and port numbers are of a server you are currently playing in? my problem is sometimes, when the server resets, and i go to join again, it wont do it automatically and i have to just jump on another one. thanks
  8. after the patch, my game was running like shit on my custom video settings, so i hit the "Normal" option for the video config to auto configure my machine and it changed it to an odd resolution (88%) of my native resolution along with everything on "normal" and the rendering on the low-normal end. the game looks amazing and runs better than ever after doing that and letting the game decide whats best, i was shocked. does anyone know if this is something in the new patch? thanks

    more resolution options after patch?

1920x1080 now, but i was setting it lower previously to 1280x720 in my custom setup...maybe its looking at that and reducing it to 88%? for as low as it is, it doesnt appear that way in game. sure its not as crisp as 1080, but the performance increase is substantial and it still looks very pretty.

Question about FPS and Performance? Sorry =(

what does the -winxp parameter do exactly? does it degrade the image quality at all? thanks
  11. i have two desktop PCs in my house and figured i'd try to get the 2nd one capable of playing dayz so my brother can come over and play with me. is this possible? i installed the game on both, but will my brother need a login for steam because it doesnt look like it will let me sign in on both PCs at the same time under my login. this leads me to the next question...if i was able to play with both online at the same time, should there be any problems getting onto the same server being that we are both under the same router IP address? wasnt sure if that would be looked at as a possible hacker to the server or anything. thanks in advance!

    Framerate problems i dunno why...

i have found that by simply lowering my resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024x768 i was able to run everything else on medium-high with all the rendering turned on and stuff and achieve 30-50 fps almost everywhere. the only time it dips into the upper 20s is in certain areas of the woods where there is a lot of tree shadows to render and obviously in the apartment complex area of Cherno. the game looks beautiful at the expense of a little crispness, but i dont mind that
  13. ok, i had my buddy sign up on steam and download the game, so when i see he's online in steam and playing, i try to "join game" but it says the server isnt responding. so i copied the ip address and launched DayZ and chose "remote" and added the server address in manually and it let me in. am i missing something to do this easier? thanks
  14. ok, thank you for the input! :)
  15. i did try that, but we get the message "server not responding"...
  16. i have a friend that has a mac (a very high end mac from what i'm told) and would like to be able to play this game. i know i have read that people are running it with boot camp or whatever but he says he bought a copy of "Windows for Mac". i dont know if thats parralells or whatever, but he says he doesnt run it through bootcamp. i'm not famaliar with them at all so any help would be appreciated! are there any resource links or tutoriasl that i can send to him to try? (please dont say to just buy a PC. i give him enough crap already :))
  17. thank you for the input...i just txted him to try to get more info and he did say it was boot camp. so is it as simple as isntalling it ad running the game or will he need to modify video drivers and stuff?

The best atmosphere in this game

great write up dude! while i dont play too much at night, i know what you mean. very desolate feeling for sure.
  19. Dell 7010 SFF (hand me down computer) i7 3770 @3.40GHz 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz i added the best card i could find that would fit in this case which was low profile Saphire HD7750 1GB DDR5 250GB HDD game runs decent but not where i'd like it to be. below is what i found works best for my system. this game is strange as if i turn everything down low, it runs worse! i'm getting on average 40-50 fps in main Cherno and other towns but those damn apartment buildings bog it down to 25-30. in the open its close to 60. Vsync ENABLED Textures are all on AUTO and VERY HIGH Object, Terrain, Clouds, and Shadows are all on VERY LOW as for rendering i have antialaising DISABLED, edge smoothing SMAA HIGH, hdr quality VERY LOW, ambient occlusion DISABLED, post process LOW
  20. for those worried that the game will not speed up, i found a youtube clip of Dean playing in the Cherno apartment complexes and him saying that it was "sucking frames" and in need of "serious optimization." it didnt even look that slow in the video to me. i'm not sure when this was recorded or if it was posted here before, but it makes me feel a little better that maybe i wont need a monster PC to run this on higher settings. scroll to about the 25:00 mark.
  21. guess time will tell for sure...i'm building a PC within a year or so anyways.
  22. i plan on building a PC late this year or possibly early 2015 (mainly for this game). what are your specs right now Weparo so i know what i'll have to build towards? also, do you know if its possible to run the standalone in RamDisk? if so, can you give me a quick run down if you dont mind? thanks
  23. all the tutorials i found online are for the mod. so has anyone successfully gotten it to work? thank you
