I actually agree that there are way too many people that think their e-peens grow in direct proportion to the amount of false expertise they show in a forum. I think the zombies have been imbalanced with the last few patches but I have adjusted and altered my play-style for the time being. I realize this is a testing phase and am not going to hang it all up on this project because someone hurt my ego on the forums because of a reactionary comment. The statement I have the most problem with from your OP is how you know what the right choices are in a mod that you didn't develop, envision, or have any input on from the get-go. I am not a Rocket fan-boy but at the same time going to crap all over the work he is doing. If you would have understood my original response, I was trying to suggest that the patches and fixes so far have been mostly related to how difficult the Arma 2 engine is for customizing a mission beyond the original intent. Imagine is someone tried to make Battlefield 3 with the Battlefield Heroes engine. Yeah not so easy now. I look at these forums much like I look at the user population in game. Many think that because they camp one spot (thread) and take pot-shots at those just out to help and have fun, that they are some sort of uber player. In reality they would get wrecked in a fair fight and probably just asked their mom to get them another Hot Pocket with which to masturbate.

As much as an expert as I am sure you are, what did this add to the conversation? Every change is meant to either test or fix some error. You bought Arma 2 because you saw some video on You Tube and wanted to be in the cool kids group. Calm down and go play something else until you see a video proclaiming how awesome DayZ is again. I bet the waters will be safe for you and your swimmies then.

I understand that sometimes we quit servers to find a better one, and I expect that Rocket's solution will be able to identify that. I often switch servers when I am on a laggy server, have an issue with loot not spawning, or when there is something amiss in the description and the reality of the server setup (crosshairs when it says no-crossharis). Let's just all calm down until we see what happens. I am guessing the abusers of this will stick out like sore thumbs.

As a parent gamer I must say that I know your pain but must warn you that you shouldn't let gaming be that central to your attention. I have taken losses in BF3, lost chunks of saves because I had to run, and have left my DayZ toon in the middle of the NW Airfeild because family is first. I don't think Rocket is going to punish you for aborting to take care of life, just don't do the alt+f4. Plus we haven't even seen the suggested analysis in action yet, so let's not jump the gun.

Buy one copy on steam. Create another steam account or buy a non-steam copy and install that to a second Windows user id. I have tried both and the two steam accounts works the easiest.

Someone needs to learn what an alpha and beta test are all about... Your amazing record will be wiped before release so I suggest having more fun and being less of a survivalist.

It took me forever to connect but it finally did. Maybe try another server and see what happens.

I still use DayZ DB map when I am looking for parts and am without an ingame map or compass. After that point I am usually just out exploring and having fun with the Beanditos.

I think the balance of making them too speedy and having the exponential sight calculations is a bit off as well. Though you can lose them fairly easy in towns and they don't seem to hear gunshots as well anymore. Though with your rifle they would probably agrro from Bolota lol.

I also suggest that for full immersion that when it rains you pour a bucket of water all over you or just go jump in the shower for a few seconds. I don't see how 3rd party comms are an exploit. If you have friends all you need is Skype, Mumble, Vent, TS, etc. Since everyone can do it, it's your choice not to.

Rocket has already stated that the final release should see upwards of 90% of the buildings as able to be entered and have more loot. Though I agree bins and rubble piles should have something. just remember that while you are rummaging in the trash a sniper just saw you...

After having been a friendly since I started I have recently taken to hanging with a bandit group of Beanditos. To all those killed, it's just a game. If nothing else we are testing the PVP aspects. When the game releases and nothing has changed, then you can whine.

Some friends and I were at Bolota and were watching the tents for activity when I guy runs toward the crashed hummer near the first tent. He prones and seems to put down a satchel charge. Then he explodes. I don't know why but it just seemed eerie. We never saw movement for the next 15 minutes and moved on.

I don't know that they are too op since the leg breaks are much fewer now, but the LOS exponential chance at distance is sometimes a bit wonky. I was well over 250 yards away from a zombie and was testing how far I could not crouch walk. Well that zombie decided to go for a sprint at distances far greater than I can ever remember. He was a bit easier to shoot but still, I can't imagine going to a city without a group of 3 or 4 well armed associates.

Well yes there are somethings that are broken, glitchy, and unbalanced; but that's what testing reveals. If this was the full release of a game like say, Modern Warfare 3, then I can get your hatred of the users and game. However; you are looking for sympathy from the hardcore playerbase that thrives on trolling new players. You have fallen for the bait and have been eaten by the trolls. I was never an Arma 2 vet, but after playing it really enjoyed the complexities. It also helped me see what DayZ is trying to do with its first foray into a established engine. Rocket probably sees this like trying to screw in a Phillips head drywall screw with a hammer. It may not be pretty, but we can hang something for now and try and think of a better approach with the next screw. As in life, if you don't like the punch at the party; go and find another one.

You just can't tell. Come back later and check. If it isn't working there are millions of other things to do. From what I can see, most spend their time writing forum posts or complaining on other websites. I suggest canasta.
