All Items in vehicles disappear after server restart
myskaal replied to KLM's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Same issue. Also, the bug where some full vehicles disappear after a server restart but show back up on another restart is still happening. -
Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)
myskaal replied to mind_grenade's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
OP: This, is actually, a really good idea. Added investment into your character's background. A little more to connect with. I like it. -
So I think everyone who loves DayZ for the way it's intended can agree that server hopping to farm loot or safely reposition and disconnecting to cheat death are two of the most abhorrent exploits that are currently "the thing to do". Especially the DCing to avoid death - and while some may argue server hopping to farm is not an exploit I assure it is. You are meant to survive in the environment as it is... not find a different environment that suits your laziness "because it's just a game" better. So with talk of a standalone DayZ milling, I wonder what multiplayer model is being considered. If the current ArmA2 type of multiplayer (Co-op on servers hosted by others, not by BI) is what will be used, I'm not sure if this idea could be applied - but I'm also not a technological whiz. I would like to suggest and encourage Rocket and BI to consider a more MMO based server hosting model. That is, the servers are BI's servers that they control. You know, like, when you log on to play WoW, you log on to Blizzard's servers. Why? If this were the case, DayZ could be set up like this: 1 server for your character. You pick a server. You play on that server. Just like in SWTOR you pick a server, and then make your characters there. You can make characters on other servers - but they are not the same characters as you made on other servers. They do not share items or progress in any way shape or form. This way, you can not simply DC and hop onto another server to escape your current conditions. You can DC and make another fresh character with nothing of the stuff you had on the original server. As for the "But I've survived for 14 days and I decided I just don't like this server?" - offer server transfers. I wouldn't suggest charging for them, what with Permadeath looming around every corner, but indeed make it somewhat time consuming. Perhaps 24 hours minimum to go into effect so players can not simply DC and then hit the transfer button. Just an idea to consider. eta* I picked WoW and SWTOR as examples because of their recognizability not because I want to see DayZ turned into anything similar. Just fyi.

I know it's on ArmA. I know ArmA 3 is on the way. I know they are also working on DayZ witht he ArmA 3 engine most likely as a standalone product (as devs have said). Thus the suggestion.
-
Well, I'm talking about the future DayZ here. The standalone product, that I imagine is going to be hugely more fleshed out than the current Alpha mod version of it. Rocket has made statements along the line of support for around 200 concurrent players on a server. Obviously, if there was some way to apply this sort of character hosting per server with the way multi player is currently done (hosted by others) that would be best. I just have no idea if anything like that is possible. The thing is, I don't see DayZ as being the same kind of game ArmA is. It's not exactly war. It's Apocolyptic survival. Yes it involves co-op but not at all in the same way as ArmA. The best part of the mod is the dynamics with other players. Single player is right out. DayZ seems to me to lean more to the MMO side of things than co-op.

"Dropping items while swimming can be disabled with "enableItemsDropping = 0;" in description.ext" I have searched my entire computer and this file does not exist. Does it need to be created?

Popping in on this thread because I'm trying to understand how this actually works. Today, I was in Elektro digging up supplies. I was in the grocery store, I picked up a can of beans from one loot pile and then all of a sudden all the loot inside the store disappeared. First thing that occurred to me was someone had logged in inside or near the store, so I swept the area. No one to be found, and only what seemed to be the zombies that had spawned from myself were roaming. From store to restaurant to office to apartments and back again... there was only a couple of trash loot piles. So I hiked it over to Cherno. Same situation. Very very little loot piles. Only a couple ammo piles and the rest either trash or car parts. Back to Elektro and the loot was still in the same state. I don't server hop to farm so have never experienced how the loot behaves from that side of it and this is the first time I've seen loot just disappear while I was there looting. Strange.

Player character name: Big Between 5:00pm and 5:30pm CST on server US 138. Spawning boats, gold AKs, and ammo and probably a lot of other things.

I broke my leg and survived it just last night. The story: I ran into a server hopper (named Loveshock) in the control tower of the NE Airfield. He had tried to block the entrance with barbed wire' date=' but I just vaulted over it. When I saw him, he still had a bandit skin from when those were being given out. I immediately fired, and so did he. He died, but not before shooting me in the leg, breaking it. I crawled all the way to the hospital in Berezino, found THE LAST morphine in a medical box, healed my leg, and beat it back up north. I was so stoked. [/quote'] Feels good right? I was scavenging around Dolina for tools and a gun when I tripped over a front porch and alerted a zombie swarm. My leg got broken by one of them. After managing to hack them all to death I was left with a little less than 4k blood and the broken legs. I started crawling my way to Berezino. Found a heli crash along the way and picked up a L85 and a Bizon SD. Found a cow, killed and gutted it. Made it to Berezino, found morphine in the hospital and matches in the restaurant as well as a new pack, food drink, various other things. All fixed up and on Day 3 alive (again lol).

I think it's hilarious how many people think broken legs mean they have to respawn. :)

6 Launcher Not Updating to Latest Beta
myskaal replied to myskaal's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I manually updated to 94209. If I launch the game through Steam, it shows version 1.60.94209. If I try to launch the game through 6 launcher, it runs in version 1.60.94103 -
You, sir, are an absolute idiot. Could his tent be a trap? Absofuckingloot(ha)ly. "....getting away with D/C" Yea you might want to think about what you actually said there.

I Agree With this List big time. I disagree about morphine being not common enough. I think it's just right. It makes no sense that you'd be able to just find morphine wherever whenever. It's a medical supply and needs to be limited. I also disagree with the weapn on the tool belt. I can get on board with the hatchet on the toolbelt -there are smaller handheld hatchets. But it makes ZERO sense to be walking around with a shotgun or assault rifle hanging off your belt. _____ I don't understand how people are having so much trouble with broken bones from zombies. I've had my legs broken once from zombie attack - but I was being wailed on by 3 at once so it kind of made sense to me. Not sure what I'm doing differently that's keeping me from having the same too many broken bones that so many others seem to have. ______ Just backing up some other posts: zombies are still spawning in odd places - on the roof... or stuck between the roof and the building. Still see/and hit through walls. Still see/hear regardless of floor level (2nd or 3rd or higher floor - heard/seen from the street). I ALMOST agree watches are too abundant but the truth is, I feel like it kinda makes sense. Seems to me all the "not enough spawn of this particular loot" complaints are coming from people not wanting to spend too much time looking for something which in this sort of scenario is just... a silly request. IMPO. I definitely agree fencing kits and tank traps are far too abundant and have become just another way to grief survivors.

if someone plants wire' date=' he still has to get out, so there is a way to get in. so it works for me anyways, no problem looting cherno/elektro. [/quote'] No they don't. They just have to switch to a different server and exit clean that way.

Streamer, running with a hacker. Live in action rightnow. Have a look at all the crazy crap this guy is doing: http://www.twitch.tv/qnomnikai *** The streamer is not the one hacking. A hacker has been watching his stream and found him in game. He calls himself God or Devboss. He follows the streamer around and hacks things for him. Things like, items, vehicles, aircraft... I just watched him spawn ArmA2 NPCs - a jogger and an office worker. It's fricken crazy what this guy can do.
-
Yes, the hacker is now making it impossible for Kai to actually play. He just took complete control of Kai's character. Just out of hand.
-
Catching hackers and figuring out how to stop them from being able to hack in alpha is good. Yes. Exactly.
-
Reading comprehension is your friend.
-
1. This is not the first time Kai and friends have played with "God"/"Devboss". Check his VODs. 2. I do not believe Kai deserves a ban. 3. I believe the dev team needs to find out how the hacker is doing what he is doing and figure out how to stop it. 4. I think Kai needs to get back to playing the game as the game. That's why people are watching him stream. He absolutely CAN get away from the hacker. He has done it before. Clear? Good.

priest with a gold AK.... This is just insane.
-
Yes and no. I would leave the who deserves to get banned up to the people who run the game. The stuff this guy is doing, though, is just crazy. Teleporting. Any item he needs - bam there it is. And the stream itself, because of all this, is really doing a good job of NOT showing people what DayZ is. The streamer gained 1k followers in a week streaming DayZ and now what people are seeing is this crazy hacking crap.

Prone, in high grass, crawling up to the completely closed backside of a shed, zombie INSIDE apparently sees/hears and comes running at me. Prone, in high grass, crawling toward the door of a house, zombie INSIDE apparently hears/sees me, shuffles out the door and comes at me. Just a little bit too sensitive. Seems like the prone nerf you removed previously made it's way back in.

'bin\config.bin/cfgweapons
myskaal replied to AndyPandy44 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If you're starting fresh - you will not spawn with a weapon. That's how the mod is designed. I get this message a lot and always just click okay. Loads me in and I can play fine.
