F1 to wave, F2 to surrender, and you have to pick a key to bind the flip off to.

If I'm a fresh spawn or very low geared I am not going to drop anything just because some players with guns tell me to. So what if you shoot me? It's not like I can't get the same gear in about 10 minutes after I respawn. LOL, silly Dayz bandits think they have any control over what other people do in game.

Given time, I'm sure that a lot of the hacks and server hopping will be resolved.

I've been in game a total of about 3-4 hours. Had the usual n00b gear, (backpack, axe, some food, canteen, other misc items), and had not come across a single other player. I hit the road in some random direction to get the lay of the land. I had been running for about 15-20 minutes when I see movement at the bottom of the hill. Finally, another player!! My axe was stowed and I did the universal salute/greeting to let him know I'm friendly. His axe was out and he makes a beeline straight toward me. I salute again but he keeps coming. Naturally I pull my axe out and start back peddaling. He swings and hits me and I start bleeding. I promptly tag his ass and take him out. I bandage myself and try to look but he is glitching and since he was geared pretty much like me I just move on. *sigh* Some people..... :rolleyes:

Just as an update, I did meet a couple non KOS guys yesterday. Neither of us was geared up, (no guns), but I had an axe and he had a wrench. We talked for a bit and went our separate ways. Another fresh spawn rolled up but ran off immediately. Guess me wielding an axe scared him off. Then about an hour later I was running to try to meet up with some friends and not paying attention. Some guy ran up behind me and whacked me with the axe. I chased him around for a bit but couldn't get a shot on him so I just sat in the street to let him finish me so I could respawn and move on. Good times.... :D

LOL! So what? If I'm a fresh spawn and armed players attempt to force me on the ground or to rob me then they can just kill me. I'm not going to waste MY time so they can try to intimidate me. I would just laugh in their face and walk off. They can shoot if they want. It's too easy to just respawn or move to a different server.

Watch the vid that is posted on this site. It explains in very great detail how the food and drink system works in game. There is not point in hording food or drink. You should eat and drink as much as you can until you get the msg that you are stuffed basically. Once you are healthy you will begin to regen blood at a faster rate. Find a water well and drink until you get full, (takes about 30 drinks give or take), and eat as much as you can.

Sneaking around my initial spawn point I found a canteen that was about %40 full. I emptied it and found a small pond outside, (an actual pond and not a well). I tried various things to try to fill the canteen including putting it on the ground. No menu selection for filling the canteen though. What am I doing wrong? Also, while dicking around with the canteen 2 zombies came up from the pond, (they were underwater), which I thought was pretty cool. Zed doesn't need to breath so it makes sense that they would be in the lakes and ponds waiting to snag an unwary survivor!

This. Just in the couple of hours I've manage to play I've noted a few structures that have no loot and others that ALWAYS have stuff. :)

Yeah, I wanted to try it out because I had found a first aid kit and inside the kit were some "water purification" tablets. Was curious to see if they would work or not. :)

Good post. I, myself, am an older player. I just installed it last night and I have a total of about 2 hours actual play time. During that time I've managed to find a couple axes, backpack, various food/drink items, a hoodie, some cargo pants, and a first aid kit. I haven't come across another player yet and I'm interested to see how that pans out. I'm not too concerned about dying at the hands of another player because I know that will happen at some point. I have managed to kill about 7 zombies with my axe so the combat isn't too too bad that I've noticed yet. We'll see. All in all I'm impressed with the game and excited to see what future patches bring us.

Have you actually seen/held an M4 in real life? Even with the stock collapsed it takes up a lot of room in my backpack. Add in any additional survival supplies and it fills up pretty quick.

I've been playing the mod for about 3 weeks now. I just picked up stand alone and will be installing it tonight after work. Can someone explain what "server hopping" is? I get what it is, (hopping from server to server), but I don't understand the "why"?

If someone actually lets you capture them and the lets you force them do some stupid shit in game then they are a bigger fool than you.

I just picked up a USB headset to use with the mod. When I connect it and fire up the game the sound still comes through the laptop speaker and not the headset. How can I change that?

Nevermind....I figured it out.

I've been playing less than a week now. I play primarily vanilla but I have been on Epoch a few times as well. My personal preference is vanilla because I think starting out with basically nothing and scavenging for supplies seems more appropriate. I'm curious though, what's the difference in the various flavors, (i.e. vanilla, Epoch, Origins, etc...)

Meh, with my work hours and busy weekends I would only get to play during the night cycle.
