Are you running the game in windowed or windowed-fullscreen mode? If so then the in-game gamma slider doesn't do anything.

Just want to chime in and point out that playing with a group of people doesn't make you a good player, playing with a big group and going after individuals on the coast makes you a bit of a coward.
