In this video I explain some of the methods I use, mostly from the lone wolf perspective. I'll eventually do one for players in groups as well. It's really about finding the safest way to get in, loot and get out. I recommend spending as much time observing and the minimum actually looting as possible. Once you're done, leave FAST.

First mention made of this event on /r/dayz was downvoted and the only comments were people saying that it'd just get ruined by hackers. Well, that didn't happen and the event was a success. It has taken 2 weeks for me to find the time to finish editing, but finally, here are the videos: Here's how it worked: I had a piece of paper with a code written on it. Whoever could take this paper from me and tag me on twitter with that code would win $50 in Steam games. If you could capture me, take the note and release me alive, you'd win $100. It all happened on a first person server. In fact, the whole idea was to promote and encourage more activity on 1PP servers.

First Person Manhunt with cash prizes - 2 vids

Thanks. Would have been making a lot more videos if life wasn't getting in the way :) I've made some more discussion videos over the last few months if you haven't seen them. -
Probably the most common thing I've seen people complaining about since I began playing the mod in 2012 was KOS. I've made a couple of videos addressing this recently. My position is that the best way to address it is by adapting your behaviour in several ways. I expect a better discussion here than reddit.

Hi. It's been a while.
-
You're totally correct that have a little gear to start made all the difference. I think it would be fair to start character with a few basic items, perhaps randomly selected with very low loot. I have a theory that players have been strongly conditioned to kill on sight up to this point. With extremely low loot it would be in their best interest to cooperate a little more, trade, even beg to passerby. I've shown that people are willing to do this in previous videos. I think it would probably take weeks for players to de-habituate and start to realise that more often that not, working together will increase their chances of survival. It wouldn't eliminate PVP, and I would NEVER want that, it's the most exciting part of the game. But it's so much more exciting when you have more at stake than a 1 hour old character with an assault rifle.

Believe me, my favourite part of the game is player interaction and combat. It's so damn exciting. Extreme detail isn't necessary in a survival simulator - it's not a cooking simulator. In a game you have to take a kind of shorthand. It just needs to simulate the stress of finding food and preparing it with the possibility of failure at every step... failure meaning that you might starve.

Cheers :) I use DxTory.

Playing solo on hardcore servers, dealing with other players as I meet them whether friendly or not, getting sick and fighting my way back to full health.

I made the request for hardcore but the majority of people wanted regular. That's a 1 vs 30 battle I can't win! There would have been a few people happy either way, but I was the only one keen on it. -

Here we go! I'll be posting up the entire series in this thread, I'm thinking there will be around 4 episodes total. -
I usually get pretty good feedback and constructive criticism, the dumb comments are easy to ignore. This one I have an issue with - I've had a few comments about one of the people I play with. They say he has an annoying voice. I never thought that at all myself and didn't take these comments seriously at first, but now I'm thinking about it more. I'm not sure what I can do about it as he's great to play with. Please watch at least a minute or two and give your opinion. If these people are in the minority then I'll happily ignore.

Need some honest feedback - annoying voice?

HAHA... very funny ad. Never seen it before. Looks like freshwater where sharks usually don't swim... also looks like it was filmed in a southern part of Australia where there are no crocodiles. But still very funny. -
No, the alpha ENDS at a feature freeze. Beta is "feature complete".
-
alpha = Feature incomplete, buggy. A game in alpha is by definition unfinished DayZ SA is labelled as alpha People buy alpha, complain on internet that game is incomplete, buggy Others answer " the game is alpha, you should expect it to be incomplete" Complainers reply, "don't tell me it's alpha because I know it's alpha", even though they clearly don't understand what it means People begin to start non-constructive complaint threads with "I expected this game to be complete and without bugs/glitches, but I know it's alpha, so don't tell me it's alpha" as if this is some kind of legitimate point ------------------------------ Explaining that the game is buggy and incomplete because the game is in early development is the correct response - It's in alpha. If you want a complete game, wait until it's complete. Then you can judge the game legitimately. Until then, play something else which isn't unfinished. All of the above shows that most consumers aren't ready for early access. They have no idea what it means even when they say they understand. You might even say it's misleading. In my opinion there needs to be some kind of barrier to this kind of access to early versions of games.

Thanks mate. Might make a video addressing this and a few other issues - including the way I say "DayZED", which is another comment I get a lot! -

This is the kind of thing I'm getting. First video posted above: "His friends voice is so irritating." I ignored that. No problem. Second video: "that bogan 13 yr old thrak guy you always play with is always so fucking annoying, he should talk less" That one has 3 thumbs up in the comments. Never had such consistent negative feedback on anything else. -

I'm starting to think it might just be other Australians who don't like the more rural accent. Someone called him a bogan in the comments which is sort of the equivalent of a redneck. Edit: also it's an Australian accent ;) -

That's absolutely my priority. Like I said, doesn't sound annoying to me in the first place. But if it's something which will turn people away from my channel then I think I have to take it into consideration. Wouldn't stop me playing with him at all, he's a champ. -

Sorry. We usually play standalone, first time we'd played mod together. Wasn't thinking. -

Um... yes actually, playing other games until this is finished is a good idea. Game development takes a long time -

Of course, that's all fine. But there are a lot of people claiming that the game will never be finished, it's a scam, it should be done by now, it shouldn't have bugs in the alpha stage. This is all bullshit, not feedback. -

You can't provide constructive feedback if you have no idea what you're talking about.
