That's not a bad idea actually. -

I think I'm noticing this trend as well. Gearing up makes you a target for newspawns. -

I don't mind at all, I can't start claiming that I'm the only one allowed to play this way. If you make a video about it could you mention me and link to my video? -

Episode 2 hasn't been completed yet, and I have no idea how it'll go. I will hopefully get one of these out every week or so. -
Using some friendly and not-so-friendly interactions to illustrate my points, I argue that bandits are not ruining DayZ, but are in fact integral to it.
-
Depends. Playing on a hardcore server and staying away from the coast I get about 80% friendly lately.
-
To put in a different way: once there is no scarcity, you're no longer in a situation where you have to fight for survival. That means to be challenged you have to go out there and create danger for yourself.
-
Just got this comment on the video: "bandits are turning this game into quake-lite. in a game designed by and for stupid people, people who play as bandits would have to be below-retarded. ie, barely sentient human equivalents of brown stains on the sheets"
-
For the purposes of the video it doesn't matter. I'm really talking about any playstyle people would claim is ruining the game, which usually means those who kill other players for whatever reason. As I said in the video, I've had comments saying I'm ruining the game because I killed someone who I saw as a threat (he hadn't even see me yet).
-
That's the risk you have to take. The other thing is, if you're in Cherno sitting in the same spot and making noise like that you should expect to be shot at.
-
OK cool. I made a point about there being no right or wrong way to play myself. One of the main points of the video.
-
DId you watch the video?
-
LOL I'm going to get some hate mail for this :) Hacking, combat logging, server hopping, ghosting, this is the shit that is ACTUALLY ruining the game. You could be the friendliest hacker in the world, helping out people and giving away free gear - I hate you 1000000X more than someone who is camping on the coast and killing fresh spawns.
-
Thanks. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to comment before they watch the video.
-
I don't think KoSers are ruining the game either. I really enjoy hunting for them. I agree KoS is not the same thing as banditry, but people tend to generalise.
-
Wanted to post this under general discussion but seemed inappropriate since I'm expressing my opinion via a video. This is basically an explanation of what alpha means, and a bit of a rant directed toward those who expected a finished game.

That was kinda the intention. If I sound a little pissed off in the video at some points it's because I've spent so much time trying to explain this to people and getting nowhere. With the video I can now say "JUST WATCH THIS" instead of repeating myself.

"Alpher" is a joke referring to Rocket's pronunciation of it. But I should change the title for those who aren't in on the joke to save confusion. Might do that now.

Since this is supposed to be so realistic

Depending on the weather, your level of exertion and how hydrated you are, lack of water can kill you in a couple of hours. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/man-dies-after-being-stranded-in-desert/story-e6frg6nf-1226512215806 If players are able to last a couple of days without water, it should then be extremely rare. Yet many players don't live that long, so they would never experience the stress of trying to find food and water. That would remove a large aspect of survival out of the game. In this case, shortening the amount of time it takes to die from starvation and dehydration actually makes the game more realistic, not less.
