  1. They perceive it as slow because they have nothing to compare it to. They're simply coming from a place of ignorance - I remember about 4 months after the mod was released, there were people saying shit like "why the hell isn't there are standalone yet? Why is progress so slow??" If you have no idea how long it usually takes to develop a game, any amount of time can seem like too long. No point of reference.
  2. We were near Elektro as a group of 5 and had multiple contacts. Eventually we were forced to retreat but planned a counter-attack. The last part of the video is a breakdown using illustrations of how the fights played out.

Cheers! By the way, my youtube account has always been glitched when it comes to comments, meaning I don't have any way to directly reply to some people who comment on my videos... turns out you're one of them.

Thanks, glad you liked :D By the way, I'm a subscriber of yours :) assuming it's actually you.
  6. At 5:15 in this video I first heard shots from Balota Airfield. Carefully followed the sounds without being seen. Towards the end of the first video I start closing in. I was tracking them like this because I wanted to meet on my terms, to see them first and say hello from a safe position rather than running right in and probably getting shot. Both of these videos are about 10 min long. The rest of the story continues here:

I choose server with the highest population possible to increase my chances of running in to people. That's the only reason I sometimes play on regular servers at all, it's always possible to find a full one. Would much rather play on hardcore only. Running into Elektro is pretty suicidal. You might get a couple of kills but you usually won't last very long. Sniper hill is very dangerous also. In the last video I posted here, I left in the end because it was getting too messy. When I arrived it looked like those two guys were hanging out in the trees and there was no one above them, up the hill to the right. So I started out with a decent idea of where everyone seemed to be. In the end, there was one armed guy and one unarmed, I had no idea if either of them were the people I'd already fought with, no idea where they were. Approaching that same area was now very dangerous. Apart from the fact I was freaked out by how my gun was behaving. This may or may not have helped, but I just want to make it clear that there were multiple decisions that went into engaging those two, and multiple decisions that went into leaving. I don't just run in and hope to kill someone. I think I'll make a video which might explain this a little better.

All good questions. When I have time later I'll come back to you with a long response.

I agree, all bets are off at military bases. I mean, I've found a couple of friendlies there before, but the vast majority, definitely not.

There are a lot of other players who aren't aware of that though. After following and observing them for so long I was feeling pretty confident about getting closer. I was assuming there was no one else around except me and them when I got down to the railroad. There has been so little activity around Cherno lately I decided to take the risk. It was really just about waiting for the right moment. He was sitting still and didn't know I was there.

Ban wave within the next maintenance?

I've run into about 7 or 8 I'd say. Probably more. One at the very start of this video: One through this entire video: They definitely exist.

    Oh, DayZ. (FPS test pictures)

First of all, DayZ is based on a branch of the Take On Helicopters engine. It's difficult to compare DayZ to a game with SIGNIFICANTLY smaller maps and numbers of objects and players like Crysis. Lastly, it's still in alpha. The real judgement will come when the game is actually finished, not still in early development.
  14. Was in Berezino trying to trade with two lads when one of them offered to trade his services for my friendship. So I offered them both a job and took them on as employees.

    Don't respawn loot.

Loot isn't rare. I've been making a series of youtube videos where I gather just food and attempt to trade for more gear, but I can't find anyone who needs food or anything else for that matter. I ended up getting geared because the people I approached would just give me stuff. And all after I'd read so many times on the internet that loot was too scarce, not enough food, etc. What a load of shit. If you think basic survival should be easy, then why even have those mechanics in the first place? DayZ was originally going to be a survival game and zombies were added as an afterthought. There is no survival challenge here whatsoever. Even if loot respawns without restart, it should do so in a way that creates scarcity. Someone just mentioned that they had to trade for a hacksaw because they couldn't find one - that's exactly how it should work. It forced interaction with another player, the risk of approaching someone to see if they have what you need. To solve server hopping, all you need is private hives.

    Don't respawn loot.

Totally agree. No loot respawns for hardcore please! Even now, without loot respawning it's easy to gear up and no problem at all to survive. Only threat is other players.

A short pvp compilation i made

Who cares as long as they're dead and you're alive? It's not a "see how few bullets you can use to hit a target" game, it's a survival game.

    Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

    Please watch this:
  19. I'm starting a series where I play by these rules: 1. Do not pick up any spawned loot whatsoever2. Only take items/gear from other players, dead or alive3. Do not accept items from my friends who are already geared Hardcore servers only. Let's see how far I get.
