  1. Thank you for noticing. Plus, I put in a rather not obvious tag in the title. See above :P
  2. Go back to playing ARMA, leave CoD to us hardcore military simulator fans. Newb carebear.
  3. Dawg, where is your avatar from. I need to know before I blow this joint.
  4. No no no no no no no... remember, only carebears call this a game. This, this is a MOD!
  5. Good. We'll show those noob carebears, won't we?
  6. Well, I just had an interesting round on US 917. A hacker named RobDeBob (or something similar) just spawned about a half dozen Hueys one after the other and tried to fly them around Elektro. He crashed just about every single one, two or three of which partly my fault (I followed him around and tried shooting him, only for him to crash the heli into me). If any of you go to 917, you will find Elektro and Otmel in flames, have fun!

How to gear up the easy way :)

After reading every other post on this forum and the rest of the internet, I'll just say, "inb4everyonegetsmadaboutsomething"
  8. usszim

    Realistic to shoot on site?

Well, I thought it was an interesting topic. Everyone gets so mad about everything, geez.

    Can't Reload Pistol?

The problem is that every other magazine is full, so the game is just choosing not to change out magazines. :( Kinda sucks when you are in a pickle.

    More Functional Surrender

I would agree, except from a realism standpoint it wouldn't make sense to drop your bag too when surrendering. If it were me, I would ditch the gun and put my hands up as fast as possible. If they want stuff from your bag, they can fish it out right there. Otherwise, hopefully something like this could work out!
  11. Seems like a lot of people have problems with getting into scuffles with other players. Here are my tips on making friends and meeting non-hostile players, which turn out to be most of people actually. The problem for most players is that everyone is so afraid of losing their stuff that they will shoot anyone on sight. Does this make them bandits? I would say no, because they feel like they are defending themselves instead of trying to steal from you. So, how do you make contact and establish a friendly relationship? The first thing you need is microphone. Without a mic, you cannot type fast enough to communicate effectively. Also, the more layers of anonymity you can remove, the harder it is to kill you. Next, you have to be unafraid of dying. It's just a game/mod, and stuff comes easily. If you are always afraid of losing that stuff, you will end up becoming another scared survivors, popping everything that moves. Now, here's how you can meet up with friendlies. When you go on raids in the city, any time you see a survivor that isn't sniping people from a roof or something, approach them tell them, "Friendly" and "Don't Shoot" repeatedly over your mic. You don't need to spam the mic, but you need to talk enough for them to recognize you and acknowledge. Hopefully they have a mic or can at least type. Some people, however, may not know how to type. If they don't type anything but acknowledge your presence without shooting you, it might help to tell them to press comma and then slash to type out something. I've met at least 2 people who had this problem, both were happy to meet a friendly face. If you can get this far, you've probably already made a friend. The biggest barrier in meeting other survivors is communication. I can't guarantee that you will always meet friendlies, but out of the people I have encountered, 80% have been friendly. P.S. Helping a noob being chased by zombies often goes a long way in making friends.

    How to Make Friends

Actually, that's what ended up happening with most of the people I've met!
  13. Why? There isn't much of a point to finding a bunch of scattered pairs of shotgun shells when it would be more practical and simpler if only 8 round sets spawned. This way, instead of having to carry several sets of pellets or slugs in hopes of finding a fourth to combine and save space, we can just find the full set and split it later if we have a double barrel. Looking at it through a realism standpoint, boxes of shotgun shells typically don't sell in pairs. They usually will sell a box of 5 or more, but since no shotgun in Day Z uses only 5 shells, it is easier to compress the loot table and only have 8 rounds drop at a time. So, perhaps if shotguns get more attention, 2 rounds can be removed from the drop table and be replaced by the M1014/8 round sets and therefore simplify our lives. Flame away :)
  14. Hello, I am fairly new to the world of camping, so can you guys please explain some of the tent habits to me? Question 1: Say Player 1 place a tent on Server A. Player 1 then dies on Server B. Will the tent on Server A still disappear after X amount of days? Question 2: If the above happens, can Player 2 somehow save the tent on Server A or will it always disappear no matter what? Question 3: What does the "save tent" button do? I don't know if it is through server hiccups or stealing, but the past two times I have found items missing from the tent and obstacles near the tent have disappeared and reappeared. Question 4: If I pack up the tent, does the loot stay in it like a backpack? Thank you guys!

    Tent Mechanics

Awesome, thank you guys! Eased a lot of my fears and answered my questions. One last thing, if I forget to save my tent before I log out, will everything that is in there disappear? I would think that it would save like a vehicle or backpack, but what do I know :(

    I've been betrayed.

The doof was talking on group, what a tool
  17. Should it be made a rule that a server has to have it's setting listed in the name so that people aren't having to server hop in attempt to find the settings they like? Sometimes, servers switch setting between updates, thus potentially screwing up your favorites list. It's not that hard to do either, several servers have a list in parenthesis that go something like: 3dp: on, tags: off, ch: off, map: off. If ALL servers could do this, it could really make life more convenient.
  18. There are two ways that I know of that typically work well: 1) Approach someone who is unarmed (new spawn/noob) or lightly armed (melee weapons are best). Ask if they need help and tell them you are friendly. Without anything to lose or any way to harm you, they can only run away from you or listen to you. It helps if you can give them advice too, like where they can get supplies. 2) Approach someone being chased by zombies. Usually I'll tell them to run to me and I'll kill the zombies for them. This has been how I've met most friendly players, and 8/9 times we've all lived. The 9th time, we got trapped in a tower and glitches caused my legs to break.

    Five lives, five lessons

Sounds like you've learned very quickly :) Here's my tip-off to know when to run: if you see bodies, zombies or otherwise, run! People with guns are not very friendly :( However, if you happen to run into me, I'm always looking to help others out :D
  20. Fonz, we should team up! My brother and I are out trying to help people on the coast near Elektro and Cherno. So far, we've managed to help about 7 people escape the clutches of zombies.
  21. Same thing happened on Seattle 112. I managed to abandon ship before all hell broke loose.

    A real Populated town?

And,when you are finally established, a server wipe blows it all away. :(
