  1. I can't believe this, so many people get frustrated by bandits these days. I don't know about you, but I think bandits are crucial to a mod like DayZ, it keeps everything open so you can have more of a playing field on what you want to do. Trust me, I will kill a bandit when I see one, but I still think I wouldn't have as much fun playing DayZ if it wasn't for the bandits, or making acts of banditry. For example: My friend and I were playing on a pretty empty server at the time due to it being 1 AM where we live. We just saw this guy on and he was talking and we thought we would just be bandits this once. I was going to pick him up alone and then my friend was going to snipe him from the woods outside Cherno. Due to some problems (he crashed our truck, had to buy a new one) we got there but he saw us both in the truck too early. My friend got out and we acted like nothing happened, he didn't notice. I drove up to Cherno with him to pick up his gear in dead body and he just told me to stay there. My friend is a pretty good sniper so it only took two bullets to kill him. After that he was enraged and he just left calling me a "shithead." And he didn't even have much stuff on him only been playing for 30 minutes. So do you think banditry is bad? Because I don't. Without them I doubt that there would be as big as a fanbase on DayZ that there is still today. But I guess excessive murder is bad, but that's just because everyone gets mad when they are killed. After I am murdered I just calm down, and that's what everyone should do, but they all just scream at the bandit. Who's to say that they are evil?
  2. NOTE: First off, this is my opinion, so if you think that there is a better tactic to survival then go ahead and post it, but this is one of my favorite tactics to use when faced with a human/potential bandit. So you are probably wondering what in the world I am talking about. That is simple because to me the greatest thing you can have in DayZ is charisma or otherwise known as the ability to persuade people to think or do what you want. You know, charisma won't get you everywhere but if you are in a jam with just a pistol trying to keep a bandit from looting your DMR with no ammo, it can be useful. Using a simple "us" instead of "me" in a sentence like "You can leave or WE are going to attack!" I'll tell you a story. This man was coming towards me and I was in open space. I would have nothing better to do than to just run, shoot, or try to get him into running away. He didn't see me yet so I had my chance. I said that we were going to take him out if he didn't drop his weapon and leave. The man asked where we were and I said that he didn't need to know and that he had 10 seconds to comply or be shot. The man just dropped his gun and ran way in the other direction. The man had a M40A3 with quite some ammo. Whether he was a good shot or not, I would have been taken out because you can't kill a man with some flares. I was glad for it and I still try to use tactics like that whenever they seem useful. I'm not saying that they work every time because some people can still take a chance just to see if you were lying. So you tell me what you think the greatest thing in DayZ is. Because I expect just about everyone to disagree with me.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

I know that I am being clique but it's just a game. Yeah, I have had all my work in DayZ ruined by a bandit who got a bit to explosive happy. Yeah I've been mad but I am not going to cuss out a guy for doing something like that. I know that I should calm down when things like that happen because revenge would be even sweeter.

Will dayz sa succeed or fail

Well, since you can tell by the amount of servers, mods of a mod itself, a VERY active forum and people still posting things on Youtube about DayZ today, I think it will do great. I am not saying that it couldn't, something they might do could just ruin it completely and everyone just forgets that they made a standalone. But this game has so much hype that everyone will be looking forward to it. Even if the standalone still does badly, hey, we still got the mod!

Gear Giving - Does it ruin your experience?

Giving people gear is not bad. I think it's like a present and it's nice for someone to happen upon something good. Now you have less satisfaction rather than when you randomly find it or get it without hard work, but I think it's better because people are less likely to be irate when they die if someone gave out gear.
  6. I am not entirely new, but I have still much to learn. I know most of what is needed to know statistically but I would like to know what other people have as advice goes. Because I am not very good a surviving. My average life on most of my characters have been about 3 hours, but I die in very stupid ways (e.g.: attracting a zombie horde, trying to run but just end up dying of hunger, thirst, etc). If you have any advice, I don't care what it's about as long as it is relating to DayZ. Thank you and hope to see you on a server, unless you shoot me in the back of the head of course.

Oh Look! We've Got Another One!

Thank you all so much for the help you gave me. This has actually helped me out a lot and I can't thank you enough.

    Still primarily killed by zombies

Then you must ask yourself, if it is truly is worth it checking one more spot? Trust me, I have died several times just checking to see if there is another loot spot but end up dying and finding out that there was not loot there. Greed is our enemy, so you must make a split-second decision if you are willing to take a risk or not. I wouldn't but I am not you, so it is up to you to decide.
