building a DayZ pc.... need advice
LunaTiK (DayZ) replied to killingwillum's topic in Technology/Programming
I would stick to the i5 2500k but technically you don't even need that. The i5 2500k will stream this game at 1080p and still play it on max settings with high fps depending on video card. But the bang for buck is too much to pass up. Other than that I would also stay away from the gtx 560 ti and don't purchase a motherboard over 120-130ish and make it either from MSI, Asrock or Asus. I personally like the MSI motherboards for the i5 2500k. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130646 Other than that what Agent Lucien said is ideal. I would prefer spending a little more on a gtx 580 though. Also from seeing what the Devs have said talking about Arma 3 you may want to get an SSD for your main game drive. A Corsair Force 3 60GB would be enough to start out with if you only used it for games. -
building a DayZ pc.... need advice

This is pretty simple but a bit unrealistic. You could start out with more in formation like what do you mean by running the game on highest possible settings and what is your budget. It's the internet, did you think we were going to let you off without a bit of trolling? Challenged accepted and sorta reasonably...lol n/m You already answered questions. -

The server admin if it even has a actual server admin is probably a fruitloop and doesn't restart the servers. The shittiest company to rent servers from tends to leave their servers up after they are no longer being rented. The problem is they don't manage the servers and restart them often. -

Ghillie suit all around. It's got too many advantages night or day and also hides your backpack which makes you stand out big time. -

West of Pustoshka and from there all the way north to around Skalka then staying north all the way over to the east side of the map and finally all around black lake area/north of berezino. -
I'm assuming there will be different stages of zombies but I really don't know. I think the only option we have is to wait and see where rocket wants to go with it because I'm pretty sure he has his own ideas on the subject. Right now we are only fighting 'infected' humans. Highly doubt we'll ever see anything similar to L4D.

This post isn't about admins banning people from specific servers. Ander is DayZ staff who also admins some servers. What in the world? I've been beta/alpha testing video games for years and I think this might be the first time I've ever seen anything like this. What are you doing? Are you trying to put fear into people so they won't exploit? You want the finished game to have exploits? You are banning people who are exploiting something that CAN be fixed. I reported the simplest way to dupe and you guys approved the post without removing the directions on how to do the dupe and now you are banning people for doing duping of similar methods. It's an alpha game and banning people and placing fear into the rest of them isn't helping the mod at all. Example: Back in BF2 testing I figured out how to get into buildings. I reported it and they never fixed it and then the game was released. It took other people a little while to figure it out probably by accident but it eventually happened and then the hack sites got a hold of it and for months it was a HUGE problem. You couldn't play on a server without someone inside of a building incapable of being killed ruining the gameplay until everyone just left. They ended up serving out bans even to people who only used the glitch to kill the people exploiting it. It had little affect and eventually they patched it. I've seen this time and time again. Exploit gets reported but because it's not widely known it never gets fixed then one day it explodes after the game is already released and causes a lot of problems. You start handing out bans to people who are exploiting things that should and could be fixed during the alpha/beta testing without a public warning all you are doing is hurting the game in the long run. I realize that duping is well known now and absolutely needs to be fixed. I see no problem with banning people for using an exploit when it's causing a problem especially if you can't for some reason figure out how to fix it. Ninja banning a minuscule amount of people compared to how many are using the exploit isn't the best way to go about it. The game is in testing. This is when you want people to exploit as much as possible so you know what needs to be fixed and your game isn't released with a shit ton of problems. You don't want to be placing fear into people so that exploits aren't figured out and used then the game released with who knows what exploits waiting to explode in use. I don't think I've played in a week because every where I go I find duped items. Every group of people I've come across in this game are duping. I've played with 6 different clans and they were all duping with similar but mostly different methods that 'seem' like they could all be fixed the same way. I would completely support the banning of exploiters to a particular exploit if there was a public warning in advance to bans being dished out. I don't want a game/mod to come out of testing and have a bunch of exploits.

Staff banning for exploits
LunaTiK (DayZ) replied to LunaTiK (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Narrow-minded? It's the staff who ban people for exploits during the testing phase of a game and only make a pointless post about it in an unrelated thread that might be narrow-minded. The post states it hasn't been reported when it has been. It's been talked about all over the forums including the bug threads. It's not at all normal to ban people for exploits during the testing phase of a game. It seems like some of you guys don't have any idea how rampant the duping is. I've played with groups of people who were duping and there were people part of that group who had absolutely no idea others were doing it. They were using the items being duped but were completely oblivious to the fact that duping was even possible. This is the first post I've seen that has mentioned bans being given for exploits and it was done in a thread most people wouldn't ever read it. What exactly does that accomplish? That's the equivalent of throwing some guys in jail for smoking a joint thinking it's fighting the war on drugs. Up until this post I haven't seen any evidence that duping is bannable or that anyone has ever been banned for it. If the duping can't be fixed easily then make a thread stating bans will be given to anyone caught duping. It's not rocket science, pun intended. The majority of the people who play this game on regular bases are using duped weapons and you think banning people by association is a good idea? I have no problem for banning people for already known exploits that are causing problems on this scale but it should be done correctly and an official public warning be made so that hopefully people will mostly stop. I can't even fathom what Ander was trying to achieve by this. I can only assume he got ticked off at some people while he was playing and dropped the ban hammer on them. It did absolutely nothing and went pretty much unnoticed. I don't think there are that many features that can be added. It seems that most of the work being done lately is fixing bugs and exploits fall into that category. There is a lot of content that could be put in the game but the mod is heavily limited on what kinds of features can be added. I have a hard time believing it would be all that difficult for beta patch to be released that saves the last state of someones character on logout of any method as well as when someone wears clothing. Completely remove the pickup feature that does the animation where you bend down and only pickup one item so that people have to use the G key to pick items up. -

Well, you are wrong. I've never been banned from DayZ. Have I duped? Yes. Am I sick of the duping? Absolutely. Do I care what you think. I don't give two shits or I wouldn't have told you I've duped in the first place. I haven't played the game in about week in my own choice even though It's still my favorite game of all time just because the duping is such a big problem. Refer to my posting history to find the thread where I've reported how to dupe when I first started playing. They have attempted to fix it but there are different methods that all revolve around the same thing that allows it to happen in the first place. http://dayzmod.com/f...74-duped-items/ I probably won't be playing much at all until the duping is fixed and hopefully a complete hive wipe happens. -

This thread isn't about admins banning people from specific servers. The entire hole in the idea that admins should be able to ban people for whatever is the fact that it can be abused. Say a guy spends days looking for a chopper on that server and his group spends hours repairing the chopper then an admin bans them just because they have a chopper and he wants it. That's not cool at all. There are so many scenarios that just make it completely impractical to allow admins to ban people for whatever reason they want. You could lose all the items you are storing in a tent just because you killed an admin and he bans you. Items you may have worked months for. -

These aren't battleye bans. There are two ways to be globally banned by DayZ staff and by battleye. According to the post it seems there are different ways that staff may choose to globally ban you. I know one way from previous posts of rocket is that your account profile is destroyed and it's supposedly irreversible. What you read was rocket stating that battleye can't ban you for using duped and hacked in items. -

We know you mean well. Right guys? http://www.arma2.com/home_en.html ARMA 2: COMBINED OPERATIONS / OPERATION ARROWHEAD / REINFORCEMENTS UPDATE 1.62 As part of our continuous support, we released a new patch for the award-winning tactical military shooter, Arma 2. Patch 1.62 brings a lot of fixes to multiplayer, which – aside for the largescale military battles – will also make zombie hunts much less prone to crashes and should improve server stability. The other highlights of version 1.62 are: I'm not completely positive that this mod will see huge updates to the core game. I would think if something would be to happen it would happen with a standalone game. I'm kinda feeling like we may get an official statement some day soon. -

2 Steam accounts, 2 computers. Can't be online at the same time
LunaTiK (DayZ) replied to Mr_Ramsay's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What is happening is that when you run Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead steam updates the cd key in the registry for the account. When another steam account was used on the computer it updated the cd key to that account and now it won't update it back. Someone else said that creating a new windows account and using that fixed their problem. All I had to do was simply run steam in admin and it fixed my problem.
