    Windows 8

Another voucher here, I use Windows 8 and I love it. I did have a problem with MSI Afterburner for a while, but it was an older version. You should be fine with the newer one. Every game works perfectly.

    day z needs more vehicles!

    Dallas DayZ Madness 1400+ Vehicles (1.7.4.4/99153) :)
  3. Sorry if this has been posted before. If it has please just say so in this thread and I shall delete it. So, as I have recently found out, steam apparently disabled the option for playing Combined Operations. I wouldn't see this as a problem if I were to use things like SixUpdater or things like that, but I just can't stand using a program to install, so I do it manually, and like I said, steam broke the way I usually do it. So here's my updated guide for manual installation with steam. The Guide 1. The first thing you want to do is of course buy and download Arma 2: CO if you haven't already. (Or download Op Arrowhead and Arma 2: Free if you're doing the reduced price version) 2. After you've downloaded them, run both of them first. (I'm not actually sure if you have to run Arma 2 for this method, but I would do it anyway. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.) 3. Now you want to go download the DayZ files. Be sure to get the one that says @Client-1.7.4.4-Full. I use the SE server because it seems to have the fastest download speed for me, but if you find the UK or FR servers are faster, just use though. 4. Next you want to go get the Arma 2 beta. It's backwards compatible so get the most current one. You can download it here. 5. Unarchive DayZ and put it into it's own folder. (Everyone should know how to do this.) 6. Next run the program to setup the beta, and just go through with it. We'll come back to this later. 7. Now copy the folders from inside the folder where you unarchived DayZ to your Arma 2: OA folder. They should be named @DayZ and Key. If you're using steam it should either be under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead 8. Now you want to setup the beta. There are many ways to actually accomplish this, but this is by far my favorite way. Go into the Expansion folder in Arma2: OA. There should be a folder called beta. Open this and copy arma2oa.exe to your main OA folder. First I would change the name of the original though, just so you have a backup if anything goes wrong. Now you should be playing the beta. 9. Now, if you just try to open the game and play, you'll see you're not able to. That's because of GabeN being idiotic and taking away Combined Ops. What you'll need to do now is copy the folder named Addons from the Arma 2 folder to your Operation Arrowhead folder. This will allow you to play Combined Ops. Arma 2 is in either folder depending on your OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2 10. Congratulations you have installed DayZ! Now you just have to edit the properties in steam for Op Arrowhead. Right click on it, click properties and then click launch options. Now enter "-mod=@DayZ -nosplash" without the quotation marks. Now you should be able to play. (Note: The "-nosplash" command just makes it so the stuff before the title screen doesn't show up.) Ok, you're set. Now get to killing those zombies and surviving. If you have any questions, please ask them below. This also works with Arma 2: Free if you don't want to spend an extra $10 on Combined Ops. Thanks for reading. :)

    Manual Steam Installation Guide

Sorry, I should have added links to that stuff. I've updated the OP, so it's in there now. You just download the latest beta from the website and it installs the beta in it's own snug folder.
  5. I recently came back from a long break from the game. I now notice it seems like almost every server is a private hive. I am literally just browsing the sever list and thinking "Private hive, private hive, private hive... Oh! A public hive. Ouch. Dat ping."
  6. Sounds interesting. Good idea.
  7. steepledclock

What's up with all the private hives?

Ok, thanks for answering my questions. :)
  8. steepledclock

What's up with all the private hives?

So how exactly do they work? Is it just between however many servers the owner owns, or is it just localized to one server, or is it across everything that it used to be like with public hive?

    Arma update nerfed revolver?

Dude. It's a .45 round. Do you not think that'll drop someone?

    Arma 2 AO Down?

I got an easy fix for this. Join servers remotely. Go to http://arma2.swec.se/server/list, find your sever, click on it, look at the IP and port, enter the IP and port into the screen that pops up when you click remote, and you can join the server.

Finding Nemo - Looking for someone?

I believe I was the one who shot you. Sorry 'bout that, just got an AS50 and wanted to try it out. :P

    Persistent cough??

You don't think that most of the antibiotics would be gone? Either trying to cure the disease in the first place (the zombie one), or picked up by scavengers.

    Which gun to lose?

Yep, all about the ammo. Drop the FAL. 40 rounds(?) vs. 300 rounds? No-brainer.

NEW SERIES - "This is DayZ" Episode 1 : Jeep Theft

God dammit that intro made me jump. :P Good video. I'm lookin forward to the next one.
  15. Yeah, I got into a bit of a spot today. Managed to find some pepsi in a barn outside of Novy Sobor, then found some beans inside the church. I got down to about 6,700 blood or something because of starvation/dehydration.

    DayZ Stories

Today, I was taking a look at a couple of deer stands behind Stary Sobor. I had finished looting the first deer stand, when outta the corner of my eye I thought I saw a crawler. It was about 100 meters into the field, and usually I wouldn't have bothered with it, but I was kinda curious. So, I whip out my binoculars and just start dying of laughter. What I saw wasn't a crawler, it was just a sheep doing the moonwalk. The gif I have put below kind of outlines what it was doing. :3
