Hi guys, Im here today to suggest a new idea to DayZ that could make our favourite immersive zombie survival game even more immersive, using the Oculus Rift! I emailed the DayZ development team with this idea, and they told me to come talk to you guys about it and see if you guys think its a good idea. The rift is a truly immersive virtual reality headset, which plugs into your PC to deliver a new gaming experience, boasting a massive widescreen unlike any other, so instead of looking at a monitor, the monitor surrounds and towers over you. It also uses high resolution display and low latency head tracking so you feel like your actually in Cherno! You also get 3d, so each zombie thrash, each gunshot to the head, each horde of angry zombies feels real! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game This is an add-on for PC, so your controls will not change and it will use what you already have, however, games must be optimised for Rift to use, so Im appealing to you guys for DayZ to come to the rift and deliver to us a truly immersive environment and zombie survival experience. I loved this death. Okay, so this was when zombies couldn't climb ladders, and I was on one of those elevated 'cat walk' things that need ladders to get up to, the ones around the construction sites, and zombies were swarming around me. I saw a survivor in the distance coming towards me, so I aimed my gun to his head, I had a clean aim, ready to shoot. But I stopped, and instead of shooting I typed out, telling him to leave the site and get to the nearest building and hide out their, that I was basically dead but he could still be safe. He took my advice and thanked me. I carried on shooting the zombies until i was out of ammo. From there, I managed to jump onto a roof and get to the docks where them crane things are with ladders going up to them, leading me to safety once again. I was on the first, exposed level of it, and there was another ladder going up. I head a gun shot, and looked around to see the guy I saved earlier. But he wasn't shooting me, he was running. I kept watching, and saw a group chasing him with massive guns, snipers, rifles, the lot. They stopped, and seemed to look at me, and opened fire. I was shot on the leg, but managed to get up to the second level/platform, which wasn't so exposed, it had kind of a case around but with massive windows, so if I was standing up my waist above would be exposed, but in any prone modes I would be safe. Once I was up there, I jumped on the floor in crawl and crawled to cover, hearing the bullets fly into me. I stopped to regain breath and heal myself. It then stopped for a minute or two, and so eventually I got up. Still safe. I went up to the third level, which was very high up and exposed. I stood up and looked over the view, the sun was setting and the trees seemed to flap in the soft wind. The sea lapped into shore, reflecting the beautiful sun. As I stood there, admiring the view, the sniper got a clean aim on my head, and I was shot, slaughtered before my time. That was my best death and my best DayZ experience!

Both, 2 awesome games are better than one, however it looks like our good ol' DayZ is gonna be much better, its taking much more of a hardcore game, it throws you in at the deep end and not only without a raft but you have to make the raft yourself (that was an awful analogy), where war looks like its not going to be too harsh. I want a game thats unfair and wants to kill me, it makes me scared because I know the zombies are buffed to the stage that if either they die or you do. Yes, the war z has graphics, bug-less gameplay and more powerful tech backing it, but when it comes down to it, DayZ is a new breed of survival game that has created an eruption in the gaming industry to create these hardcore game, while the war z is an RPG in a new setting, nothing more.

Id also like to see the standalone of mac, but if not just get parallels, thats what I use. It means you can run OSX and windows at the same time

I think your intentions are in the right place, but we need to keep this game simple

NO, in my opinion there should be no classes, none of this xp BS, I think all the standalone should have is the game how it is, with single player, all the bug fixes and maybe the ability to fortify homes EDIT: Maybe not even single-player, I suppose that takes away the player vs player fear,so thats probably a bad idea as well

I have an i5 processor so thats fine, but no I don't have a dedicated card, I can't do to using a mac :(

Thanks, but how do you do that? I already went into video options and advanced settings, but post processing effects was already disabled. Am I doing it wrong? Or is there any other ways to make it run smoothly, Ive already turned down the texture details, ect..., but still badly running?

Hi guys, Ive just got DayZ running on my Macbook pro (early 2011 i5, using windows) and its running really slowly. I obviously turned my graphics down to very low, but its still very slow. Is there any other way I can make it run faster, I don't care if it involves turning down the graphics more or something, anything to make it run faster? Thanks

hi, thanks for posting this thread. Im a fan of the yogscast, not an 11 year old kid and a previous DayZ player, and while yes there will be soon 11 year old idiots running around, thats what happens with fandom. However, rest assured that due to DayZ's tougher installation and difficult gameplay, many of them won't be able to get on or will be gone in a week. Meanwhile, a lot of us serious yognauts (fans of the yogscast) will stay, it won't ruin your experience, its just introducing new people to the game. I apologise for the 11 year old minecraft fanboys, but wait them out, they'll get bored. Thanks Tom

Okay, so at the moment I have a folder inside my steam apps OA folder called '@DayZ', and inside that a folder called 'addons' and all the dayz stuff in that. What do I need to do then? Do I need a dayz folder in Arma 2:free, and if so, where?

Hi guys, I'm new to DayZ and while installing it I have come across several problems which have meant I cannot play the mod. I am using the free version of Arma 2, the full version of OA and Worroms DayZ updater. My problem is when I start the game (I always start it on steam as combined operations by the way) without the launch option, the error I get is "you cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependant on downloadable content that has been deleted.chenaurus , dayz_code, dayz_weapons, dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles" However, when I launch it the exact same way but with the launch options set to '-mod=@dayz' (without the ') I get a window saying "Addon 'dayz_code' requires addon 'CABuildingParts' " I click okay to this and the game starts up. I then get an arma window saying "No entry 'bin/config.bin/CfgVehicles/Citizen1.scope'. " So I click continue and after trying to go to a server i get "you cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependant on downloadable content that has been deleted.chenaurus" How can I fix this problem? Sorry to be any trouble, but being new to DayZ I have found myself in a very confusing situation, and I need to get out fast (I have an english report in for thursday and Ive chosen to review DayZ). To be fair I have looked around the forums, but I didnt find anything about my particular combination of errors. Thanks so much guys Tom
