    Sudden connection problems?

For the past two weeks I didn't have connection problems whatsoever, up till an hour ago. Right now I can't join any server, and I don't think it's only me. I see a lot of empty 'setting up' servers. Anything going on with the servers?

    So I took the plunge...

Love reading stories like these, because I know the feeling of that adrenaline rush so well. It's crazy the way your body and mind responds to this game. It's really survival instinct kicking in. You just really don't want to die. This makes a lot of encounters very memorable. About navigation being difficult; I love that the map doesn't show where you are. It's another skill you, as a person, have to develop. And not in an artificial way, like 'mapreading skill increased by 5, congrats'. No you really have to learn how to read a map. Personally I think that's awesome, but maybe that's because I have no trouble at all finding my way.
  3. Totally agree with OP. I experienced similiar things happening with direct comms. It's flipping awesome!

    Everyone please get a mic!

I take a rigourous stance in this: whenever Im in the process of 'getting to know' someone I find he doesn't have a mic, because he either chats or doesn't respond I tell him: 'sorry dude, this game is more fun when people have mics. Go and buy one, this should help'. Bang. Im hoping to get everyone to buy mics, will make Day Z even more fun. At the core though, yeah, I shoot people who can't/don't communicate because I can't tell if they pose a threat to me.
  5. First up, man I've never enjoyed this game more than with the latest patches. Direct comms working and no global chat is amazing. Anyway, I just came about a guy who was unarmed. I had an AK so I decided to approach him: 'hey buddy, behind you, can you hear me? Do you have a mic?' He answered in chat: 'no'. Now, my triggerfinger always gets impatient when someone doesn't have a mic. Playing together with someone who can only communicate by typing isn't as much fun as playing with someone who's voice you can hear. Someone's voice says a lot. Anyway, I digress. The point is, when I targetted him I got a pretty strong heartbeat sound. I'd never heard it before and this was very obvious. So I asked him: 'I hear my heart race when I target you, have you been killing people?' He responded with an evasive answer 'I just got shot at NW airfield, Im headed back there to recover my gear'. My curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to know if the heartbeat sound indeed meant he was a bandit, and I wanted to see if shooting him would give me a bandit kill. So I shot him, didn't get a bandit kill, but a murder. So what's the deal with the heartbeat sound???

    1.7.1.5 loot patterns

Been playing 1.5 for a couple hours now, this is what I kept finding, over and over again; -watches -makarov ammo -m1911 ammo -pepsi or cola -flares All the loot places I looked at only spawned these items. No food, no guns, no compass/matches/map/binoculars. Found 4 watches though... I'd say something's wrong.

    Humanity reset

That fast? When the debug monitor still showed a numerical for humanity rating I went up, maybe 30 per half hour.

    Humanity reset

I shot a lot of people when rocket disabled the bandit skin. I did, I liked it. With the direct comms, sort of, working now, though, I want to start cooperating with people because now I actually can communicate with them. However, in the period before 1.7.1, when everyone was just a mute, walking loot pile to me, my humanity rating dropped to, I think, like -20k. So I will probably be shot on sight by everyone because their 'bandit heartbeat monitor' will go through the roof when they target me. So I want to ask if everyone could get a humanity reset?

    Direct Communication

What's the deal with direct communication? It seems to randomly work for me. Yesterday I was playing on a Dallas ## server and I was chatting with this guy with my mic using direct communication. Today I was on a, probably different, Dallas server, and I couldn't get it to work with 3 different guys I met. Has this something to do with server settings, or is it just buggy? Cause it works in Arma all the time. Anyway, I think this should be top priority. I think a lot of the current 'Day Z is turning into CoD and everyone just shoots eachother' issue can be solved if you could shout to people not to shoot you, or 'friendly? friendly?'. The other day I spawned on the beach and not long after I saw a guy with an enfield. He didn't see me so I thought, what the hell, I want that Enfield. I crept close and opened fire but he start yelling 'don't shoot, don't shoot, Im fucking friendly!!'. And I felt really bad for shooting this guy. Because he responded with emotion, so I in turn felt emotion for shooting him. It ended up with us teaming up and going to Balota airstrip. Where we admittedly killed like 4 guys, but we were working together as a team, through direct comms. I remember reading somewhere that rocket has fixing direct comms is his highest priority. Is this still the case?
