That is actually not a bad idea. Only problem is that a player can receive low humanity while defending himself.

Except, both times I have got a broken bone I was on Solnichny, closest hospital is in Berezino. So, leaving it the way it is doesn't make sense to me. That's your fault for making a mistake without a morphine pen, or being close to a hospital. Now you'll learn from it, I think it makes perfect sense unless you guys think of something good rocket can implement with ease. I don't know how difficult it would be to put a timer on the broken bone, but it doesn't seem that difficult to me. As it is right now, you can break a bone just walking into a building or doing a number of mundane things in the game. Stop being obtuse, I am offering suggestions while you are trolling. Do it somewhere else.

Protip: Next time you go to Solnichny bring morphine with you. Problem solved. Protip: we don't spawn with morphine. You should know this by now. If you are going to reply, have some logic behind it. I spawned in Solnichny. Your reply was a waste of thread space.

I think a 10 minute healing debuff timer on broken bones could fix the issue of not having morphine available. Well, maybe not fix, but improve. I think anything longer than 15 minutes would be too long. 10 minutes of crawling around while your bone heals itself seems reasonable. As it stands now, a broken bone is just a slow painful death.

Rocket, I posted my original hatchet issue on https://dev-heaven.net/issues/33949 , but I can't seem to replicate the situation that caused the initial bug. I'll keep bumbling around and see if I can figure out how it wouldn't reload on me again.

A small sense of pride and a willingness to test further.
Kashus posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have never really been a tester for a game before. This truly has been my first experience. I have played betas, but those games were pretty polished by the time I was playing them and I never took the time to post about any issues I saw from gameplay. I have evolved in a couple short weeks with regards to how I got about playing and communicating some of the issues I have found. I think it is important for all of us to communicate if something is frustrating with the game, because I believe that the large majority of us have a pulse on what makes the game fun. I believe in this game, more than any other game I have ever played, it has grabbed me that much. Even though I get really frustrated at times, I still offer up my time to the grinder to play the game and see how it is evolving. I feel good about some of the changes coming in 1.7.1.5. I feel like I have a small voice in the direction this game is taking, because Rocket does listen to us. There are some players that are extremely vitriolic about some of the suggestions I have promoted, but Rocket's approach to feedback has just reinforced my resolve about offering suggestions and issues I have with the game. I offer some advice to a small contingent of forum users who bash people when they post about frustrations they have with the game; point them in the right direction. If you have tested multiple games before, explain the process a bit and certain goals you are looking with providing feedback/communicating. This game has pulled in a lot of testing noobs (me included). It is not unreasonable to assume that the general forum would be a hotbed for threads regarding issues/frustrations for the game, since it is in alpha and many of the current players have not actually tested a game before. General forums are where the majority of people go when discussing the game. If there are too many threads posting about the same topic, be polite and mention to them that the issue is being discussed in another key thread. Many of those threads will fall into oblivion and the cream of discussion will rise to the top. That's how I see it. :) -

That's my point though, if you have some knowledge about how to test a game in alpha stage, then share it. -
I noticed that if I am prone and have a broken bone, when I switch weapons, then back to the hatchet, the hatchet will not reload and therefore will not swing. Not sure if you are aware of this bug. Shit, I should probably post this on the bug forums.

Stealth / Zombie Dynamic - Constructive Criticism Thread
Kashus replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here too, because I feel that it is pertinent to the discussion. This what I have missed from the game. The creepiest times I have had were when I was in a building with a couple zombies around it at night and knowing that a player might be out there as well, waiting for me to exit ("Was that a player's footsteps?!?!? or a zombie?!?!?! Is there someone in this building with me?!? FUCK HURRY, I need to get the fuck out of here!"). It's the anticipation of an eminent and quick death that frightened me. It made me want to take bizarre routes to certain buildings so that I could scope it out effectively. The new night changes and super zombies have erased that sense of unease for me. I am sure that I am not alone in my opinion. -
1) My framerates have been really bad on at least 50% of the servers I have connected to. Especially when it is daylight. I never had FPS issues before the patch. 2) If I ever find a stash of flares again, it will BLOW MY MIND. I have never lusted after a set of flares like I am right now, but all I find are crossbows, wood piles, hatchets and more wood piles. Some tin cans too. 3) my lust for flares stems from the fact that at night, I can't see anything. Literally, nothing. I can see some cloudy kinda starry sky, but everything else is black. Without flares or chemlights or any kind of light, I am completely and utterly lost. Zero visibility. I could spend 30 minutes continually stuck walking into a bush and have no idea that I am not moving at all. The zombie aggro is fine with me. I can handle the rework on that front, but I gave up playing tonight because I couldn't figure out where I was at where I was going, whether I was in a field or forest or in a town, my visibility was that limited. How I would handle some of the issues. 1) no idea how to fix the framerate issue. Sorry can't help here. 2) If the night is truly gonna be that pitch black, then we need to be able to find light sources relatively easy. This is supposed to be hardcare gaming, but we need some way to at least see the world we are running around in. If I ever find a stash of flares again, you will never see me more fucking excited! I also think that the current loot spawns are out of whack. Items that I currently see in abundance Lee Enfeilds, Crossbows, tin cans, wood piles, hatchets, jerry cans. Stashes of food and water are very difficult to locate. Same with pistol ammo and of course, flares/chemlights. 3) I think that there needs to be a happy medium between the previous version of night and the current version of night. Previous version offered almost too much visibility when I turned up gamma/brightness, but the current version is like walking through the VOID! I have not died since before the patch, so I cannot comment on how that has affected me yet. I suppose I'll find out soon enough though.:-/ My two cents.

Stealth / Zombie Dynamic - Constructive Criticism Thread

I like the idea of reverting to 1.7 vision/sound levels for zombies, but make them extremely dangerous if aggroing them. I think getting in and out of town quickly with some clean stealthing, but if you get careless at all, your ass is eaten. -
Ok, now once was funny but 3 times is a bit much..

No, the fact that's is Alpha is the very reason why it's being irritating doesn't matter. It's not in a stage meant to appease or make people's game play good or bad. It's in a testing phase and we've been allowed the opportunity to assist in its development. If you're irritated then you're obviously not interested in simply providing feedback to devs. You're actually playing it.. with the intent to progress.. even though it's an Alpha. You can get mad an curse at anyone who says "Alpha" but it's a fact.. accept it.. or just do something else until it's in Beta or beyond. I'm not saying that as a thread or insult.. you and him will be much happier until then. Actually, getting irritated is exactly the point of being a tester. If I am irritated and I express why I am irritated then by its very definition am I providing feedback. I did not offer a suggestion, because at the time I had no suggestion. You have contradicted yourself at least twice already in this thread, so I can see why you want to avoid it now. I am not sure how much more detail you wanted from my original post, but I think you can get the gist of it. I explained my issue and why it was frustrating, instead of writing a dissertation on it. Short and to the point. You can ride off on that high horse now. -
Too hard trying to find your friends

It is a steep learning curve, but once you get familiar with the map, navigating is not so difficult. I get confused briefly sometimes, but then I just look for towns and read the signs leading into the town to get my bearings. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
Kashus replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Some extra points I want to make. 1) Make the watch not an item. We all have it, it's not a tool or a lootable item. Same function that it currently serves, but it is not listed under tools or in any inventory. Just hit o twice to bring it up. I think most people having a watch in the zombie apocalypse sounds reasonable. Also, very few people actually utilize the watch, at least from my experiences. I know I dont get super excited when I find one. 2) Replace the slot that the watch held in the tool section with the flashlight. Currently, the flashlight takes up 4 inventory slots! That is crazy! Make it so that we can carry it as a tool and it won't interfere with having a pistol in hand. Having to swap to pistol while walking around with a flashlight is ridiculous, imo. I think we can all carry a gun and a flashlight at the same time in real life. This will marginalize the G17's uniqueness, but I think it is necessary. 3) When a main weapon is out, we can't use the flashlight. Risk vs reward here. It also makes guns like the Remmington 870 very valuable. 4) I like that the axe needs to used in the main weapon slot. It would be ridiculous if we could shoot a Lee Enfield and swing and axe at the same time. Not sure if this is possible, but make another weapon slot for melee weapons. Have a button that switches to the melee weapon and back again. This way we could swap between weapons relatively quickly. -

Yeah, because we play video games as a form of masochism... This game has so many aspects of it that are not realistic. Like morphine magically fixing a broken bone, zombies(HERP DERP INFECTED), zombies running faster than a cheetah, zombies with excellent vision and hearing, the winchester thats not a rifle, but a shotgun, a cow only supplying 8 steaks, campfires that can be lit with a box of matches in an open field while its pouring down rain... need more examples? you get it now? It's about balance and people enjoying playing the game. Come off your high horse. -

Count me in among those who think that zombie aggro is ridiculous. I was crouch walking into a building at night, because if I crawl while trying to enter then there is a chance that I will stand up and run at the same time. Crouch walking into a building at night, with a zombie about 30 meters way should be easily quiet enough to enter and exit without a problem, but I aggroed one zombie, he knocked me out and I was dead. Another issue is the lack of morphine right now. I am consistently getting broken bones in the game from one zombie hit. If morphine can fix a broken bone, but is hard to find, then put a healing timer on a broken bone. Something like 10 minutes. 10 minutes of being forced to prone crawl is pretty good punishment, because it is nearly impossible to climb stairs and enter certain buildings while prone. As it stands right now, entering and exiting towns is just too dangerous. Zombies are the only real threat right now. hopefully these issues get resolved, because I absolutely loved 1.7 version of the game. As it stands right now, it seems like the game is going in an extreme direction that has limited what makes the game so fun (exploring the world, looting towns, and paranoia of players while being aware that zombies can kill you). Fear of players, which made the game so intense, has all but evaporated. I am just enjoying myself right now with the game in its current state. Thats my 2 cents. -

Here is my suggestion. Broken bones only last 15 minutes. Long enough for it to suck ass, but short enough that it doesn't equal a death.
