Me friend said to me that when Dayz Standalone gets an update will the Dayz Mod get one too? Is he correct?

So I bought DayZ Standalone yesterday downloaded it, to find out that we the servers were not working because they were broken or they were patching stuff i'm not sure. I'm dying to play it haha was it worth my money?!?!
