Tents. What are they good for? Absolutely Nuttin

There you go. You guys have gone and done it. I have to worship Dayz again. A flaw that isn't a flaw. Ahh, I'm home. Good to be back. It was scary out there.

Tents. What are they good for? Absolutely Nuttin

All good points from everyone. I've found and raided a few tents. There is the disadvantage that tents have. They aren't exactly the easiest to hide. Awhh hell, I opened my mouth, now there is going to be fully camouflaged, invisible tents.

No, no, no, you mustn't encourage them to go outside.

Agree 100 %. It depends on the individual young or old. Buttttttttt, you have to admit, there are some tendencies of young people that us oldies can exploit. Impatience, inexperience, invincibility. We as oldies, don't have our shortcomings in game. Thank God. Generally weaker, slower, stamina. Can you imagine if the game made us play our age? :o

Camps are a different story, somewhat. It takes time, quite a bit I hope, to establish and build one. I like the idea of a temporary tent that is destroyed when you die. Gives a little more incentive to staying alive and not risk losing it and the supplies which are stored there. Playing smart, staying alive=having a place to stash things. Bases stay the same. Bodies - This ones maybe a tough nut. It needs to persist long enough so that it can be looted, but not long enough for the dead party to get back to.

Remember (concerning kids) everyone: First of all, keep him out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill him. Second, don't give him any water, not even to drink. But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed him after midnight.

Victim report card: F. We are smarter and more experienced then they are. Now we have to prove it. Good luck.

Oh I 100 % agree with you General. I kinda was referring to the point of view of me, the victim. I'm dead, no matter the reason. I was using a little levity. They (the KOSer for whatever reason) scares the hell out of me. That's a good thing imho. It teaches me not to get caught out in that position to begin with.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Using equipment from a hacker (even a friendly one) is cheating. Condoning it is the same. Man up. Take the bullet. CHEATER!!!!!!! nuff said.

I think that the KOS phenomenon is brought about by the victims themselves. Follow me on this. A majority of the players, from what I read on this forum and watch in videos and streams, run around with not a care in the world. I guess they feel like superman or they know if they die, they come back to life. No stealth, whatsoever, no situational awareness, no thought given to where they are (like being in a kill zone in Berezino). I will say again and again if you do not want to be KOS food, don't be seen. Will stealth always work? Hell no. I've been caught out a lot but usually due to a mistake. I feel comfortable so I drop my SA. I get impatient. I stay in an area way too long while each second that ticks by that KOSer is coming closer. If you don't protect yourself you will be killed (not if but when). Even in an encounter you should never ever drop your guard. This is the time to be more nervous, more jumpy. You yourself don't have to KOS. Just have the upper hand. Suspect that that person is going to kill you. Then get the F out of there. But never from that point on let your guard down. Don't continue looting in that area, move on. I am not talking to KOSers right here. I'm talking to the friendly. Yeah, I'm blaming the victim here. If you do the following you will eventually be KOS: 1. Run down the street with not a care in the world. 2. Choose to loot in a high pop area. 3. Choose to loot in a high value loot location. 4. Choose to continue to loot in an area where you just had an encounter. Even a friendly one. 5. Choose to play with impatience, no SA. And for once victim, stop coming here complaining that you just got KOS 5x already. Could it be you just aren't following the rules of nature? KOSer, kill on. You scare the f out of me, congrats. I am not, nor will I ever be, a KOSer. And just one more tidbit. You will die. When is determined by you (90 % of the time).

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

Guys, Fanboys, whiners, complainers, haters, lovers we are all in Chernarus together. We all have to wait until the game is finished. And I have got news. Some of us are going to be unhappy with the game we paid $30.00(50 % discount) for. BTW I am more of a realist than a fanboy. Our conversations here have no iota of hope of changing things. Not one. They are not going to build it faster. They are not going to build it according to our specifications. They may follow some of our suggestions but I don't think anybody has come up with something new in a long time. All the suggestions are in. The work is being implemented and now we test. We have just spawned in. There is a long walk (or run) now to Berenzino.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

I think the main reasons for so much misunderstanding and angst is twofold. First, and foremost, impatience. Second, false expectations. Impatience is self explanatory. But it stems from the fact that $30.00 was laid down. I paid and I want to play. False expectations is a little harder. For one whether this is early alpha, alpha, early beta or beta , when it comes right down to it doesn't matter. We wouldn't have any of these type threads if like most companies, this stage is hidden from the general public. The money laid out is part of this also. Since money was laid out does this justify both negative responses? It would if warnings weren't plastered everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Dean said not to buy in unless you met certain criteria, Steam said not to by it unless you met certain criteria. Even upon entering the game there is a warning. Even if the devs didn't know a damn thing about making a game (which some believe is true) you all went into it with eyes wide open. It's no excuse that you don't understand a sentence or two of text. You said I do and you did. Now, you reap the consequences, good or bad, for that decision. As an intelligent thinking human being I am sure they don't give a damn if you quote Einstein. They are going to build the game their way and in their time.

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

When I make responses, unless I'm speaking to professionals or I'm trying to teach, I speak in general terms. I have never made an arrest without looking it up in the penal law first. I don't have the whole book memorized. I don't think any police officer does unless he's got a photographic memory. Do you know how big the New York State Penal Law is? Even while in the academy, we were supposed to use the book during examinations. Now for the video. This may come as a surprise to you, but you could put up a thousand of those videos. I have my own mind and my own belief system. I am not a politician. I don't conduct my life by polls. I don't follow the crowd. I think for myself. However, when it came to the job, I did what was required of me. I did my job regardless of gender, creed, race, age etc. My personal beliefs never once took precedence. Like it or not police officers will do their jobs until the law is changed. Obviously, the majority doesn't want it legalized, yet. Only two states out of fifty chose to legalize. Not many countries have legalized it either. I will believe what I believe until I die, I promise you. edit: I just had to clarify something. Drug laws are not universal across the nation. Otherwise, all states, would have marihuana use legal. For instance in New York, possession of 28 grams of marihuana, for personal use is a violation (not a crime - therefore decriminalized). I believe in the neighboring state of Vermont any amount is still a crime (misdemeanor). I'm talking about a small personal use amount, not a shitload. Those in both states are still felonies (obviously crimes).

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

We absolutely can. I have family members that do it. I just can't condone it. So if you do it in front of me I will do something about it. My best friend in my whole life loved drugs. Unfortunately, he died of alcoholism. And for certain alcohol is a dangerous substance and causes our biggest grief. Information is and has tempered that somewhat however. I just don't want another drug added into the queue. Especially drugs that can't be detected as easily as alcohol. I'm sure the scientists are at work designing new detection devices.

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

The true results won't be in for a couple of years on the situation in Colorado and Washington. I suspect there will be an increase in DUI type offenses. Marihuana use is a little harder to detect vs alcohol but sometimes the smokers make it easy. Like smoking in the car and expecting the smell to dissipate quickly. Smell catches them or in combination (the smell again) with alcohol use. Whatever the reason for wanting marihuana use legal I have to disagree. One drug legal is enough. The slippery slope scares the hell out of me. Once marihuana use is made legal where does it end? At what drug. I believe drugs do have a negative affect on society in general. It's what I believe and will believe so until the end of my life. Can't convince me otherwise, sorry. Realize though, I was young once.

I was a New York State Trooper for 22 years and I assure you my buddies will arrest you. Go ahead show them that article.

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

My argument is drugs of any kind are illegal except in certain places already stated. I don't partake and will never condone illegal behavior. I will never be in handcuffs for the activities I choose to be a part of. So seeya round the forums. I feel a good buzz coming on. Bad boys! Bad boys! What you gonna do? What you gonna do when they come for you.
  23. RAM-bo4250

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem too? I said for the substance, not under it's influence. Take it or leave it but society finds alcohol use acceptable. All others no. When you are in handcuffs, mommy is not gonna save you from the convict in the next cell. To risk that is OK with you? Over a drug? Nice value to teach your kids or future kids. Sorry son, I rather go to jail for doing mushrooms rather than be with you. What a super supr role model.
  24. I made an analogy on one of my posts and I would like to share it. Suppose you're a frying pan maker. You obtain the metal. You then make a blank for each seperate frying pan. It is not a frying pan but it has promise to be one. You might place this blank on a cooking source and fry up some bacon or fry a steak, etc. But it's not a frying pan yet. This is what Dayz Alpha is. A blank. It's being sculpted into shape but it's not the frying pan you designed yet. Now let's explore criticism at this point in time. There's a panel that was enacted to further the creative process. Let's explore the reasonable and the not so reasonable. First off you might get kicked from the panel suggesting this pan be put in a microwave. After all it's a frying pan not a microwaveable dish. Making suggestions this far out is unreasonable. I am basing my reasonableness on an ordinary plain view most people could find as reasonable. I said most not every. I have also had to use this type of judgement in my career. Saying - I want this pan to be green - reasonable. Saying - I want this pan to have a non-stick surface - reasonable. Saying - Hey, the pan is way too thin - it's not going to be good. It's going to burn things. Or too thick, it's going to take too long to cook. The design will be worked and tweaked until as near a solid foundation can be obtained. It may even take a few experiments that are thrown out and back to the drawing board. This is where Dayz is at the moment (I believe and the ordinary guy believes). Let's throw a few things out there that are unreasonable. Remember we are talking about the blank - Alpha. Saying - Hey, I can't put water in it, it runs out. - unreasonable. The future and the panel decides what the volume will be. Saying - I can't pick it up, it has no handle - unreasonable. Now comes the outlandish, over-the-top, unacceptable period type of criticism. Saying - this pan is a POS, it has no handle. - kicked from panel Saying - the maker is a retard this thing is never gonna be a frying pan - kicked from panel As an investor in the frying pan, saying - That fucka just stole our money and it's not a frying pan or now they have my money and now they are gonna screw me by not finishing it - kicked from panel and sued for libel. Technically, Dayz is not a game. It's a blank. They allowed us to be on the development panel and/or be investors in a promising product. Investors take risks based on research and trends. Each go into it knowing the possibilities. If we believe that the process is taking too long we don't invest in that company again. We don't use the product or recommend it. If it's way over the top and obviously a scam we take legal action. Not following the timeline you have in your head is not over the top, especially since the process was fully explained. Are other frying pan companies better than mine or make products quicker? Maybe. Think about this too. Dayz is a blank of a frying pan. Yet millions are using it and enjoying it anyway. Thousands are streaming and viewing it. Imagine what the frying pan will do when it is actually finished.
  25. RAM-bo4250

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

I have never known either somebody who smokes or even alcoholics commit serious crimes like armed robbery, burglary, house invasions, assaults, car jackings to obtain said substances. And what is cigarettes nowadays, $10 a pack? Also I never said the country is perfect or society is perfect. But we are goverened by a set of laws that were enacted by representatives who voted them in. We don't get to pick the laws we like and ignore the others. At least without immunity. Why is it the minority always wants it their way? And yes, those who want to legalise marihuana are in the minority. There you go. Move to Colorado and toke your jay all day long to your hearts content. Don't like our society and it's rules go live in Amsterdam or Colorado. Until then see you in handcuffs. You probably won't be force fed disinfectant though. Shame. Yeah, we should all give away our cars to jackers while we're at it. Logical argument. In a representative democratic society I don't get to have it my way. Lot's of me(s) gets to have it my way. Break the rules here in this forum. See what happens.
