Thanks for the reply, checked both of the first 2 settings in power management settings and they were set to off, 100% and active cooling policy. Forgot to mention I set the nvidia power management mode was set to maximum performance too in the op.

The weird part is the 630 ran dayz with only a few small freezes a few times per play session (2-3 hours), but ran every game quite a bit slower (barely 30-35 fps in forests in dayz). The 550 ti helps maintain a smoother fps overall in dayz (40-50 in forests/fields now), and a lot of other games, but the towns are unplayable compared to the 630. Just confused how the card providing a clear boost is making the towns even worse. I do expect to only get 20-25 fps average in towns because its poorly optimized, just don't expect the constant freezing thats happening now. The most obvious solution would probably be a better processor as you pointed out, I don't meet the recommended. Also I do not use two monitors, and haven't actually monitored the cpu usage as I played, but I recall checking once before for a moment and it was roughly 60-70% if I remember right. Its starting to seem the overall lower fps of the 630 was much more enjoyable than this constant freezing, but at least I'm enjoying a nice boost in other games. Anyway thanks for the info.

First off I will explain that I understand the game is not optimized and still in development, however this isn't directly related to my problem. I have also searched other threads and googled but could find nothing that seemed to help. A couple weeks ago I upgraded my graphics card from a gt 630 to a gtx 550 ti. The improvement was quite noticeable on a lot of games, including arma 3, and even dayz (somewhat). My specs are: AMD Phenom II X3 B73 @ 2.80 GHz, 4gb ram, and the gtx 550 ti. The part I can't figure out is why my game runs worse in towns than it did before the upgrade, on the same version of the game. When I go into a town the fps drops like normal to about 20-25, except after a few minutes of playing or traveling between multiple towns the fps remains the same except the game starts to freeze for 3-4 seconds every 3-4 seconds of moving any direction. I did not have this problem with the gt 630, the fps dropped but it did not freeze constantly. Things I have tried: -Setting launch options to include nosplash, noPause, winxp, maxMem=#, malloc=system, and more. -Changing GPU_MaxFramesAhead to 1, and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead to 1. -Changing scene complexity, viewdistance, and prefered object view distance to various values (between 150,000 and 300,000). -Manually installing the most recent Battleye version. -Deleting DayZ config. -Verifying Integrity of game cache. -Changing ingame settings to both high and low and inbetween. -Changed power management options through control panel and nvidia. I installed the most recent driver for my graphics card, and did not change anything else besides the graphics card, yet it seems to have made the game almost unplayable. The only thing I can possibly think of at this point is that the gpu and cpu aren't balancing the load very well so entering towns puts too much stress on one or the other, hence why I tried changing various settings. If another upgrade to my computer is the only way to fix this, that is fine, I just want to know what is causing it and if there is a way to fix it in the meantime. I apologize for the long post but any help would be appreciated greatly.

Official servers should have persistence enabled. Player owned servers have the option to enable/disable persistence, and at the moment some server hosts may not know persistence is working again so they have not re-enabled it yet.

Exactly, my character was wiped and so far within an hour of playing I have found a mosin in a piano house which had already been looted, a bunch of 7.62x39 ammo, green taloon backpack, green hoody, fire axe, pso scope, and a ton of food. Sure a lot of the map has been looted but if you look hard enough you'll find plenty left over.

What I'm saying is a dot sight on a gun that can't shoot very far to begin with is kind of pointless. I can hit something 30m away with the iron sights just as easy as I can with the dot sight. Not that the 1911 is more accurate or anything like that.

1911 by far, sure the fnx has higher magazine capacity and can mount a dot sight and supressor but what are the point in those, it cant shoot accurately past 30m and the supressor doesnt work. I have knocked two people unconcious in just 1 shot chambered in the 1911, and I killed a couple people camping a jail building with just one magazine (yes, 7 bullets). I have not tried the fnx much, but so far the 1911 has done well for me. Otherwise, I prefer the look of the 1911 more anyway.

Unless something has changed, you're able to shoot through the hangers at the airfields. When I tested it a mosin would go through the first wall and then the second, exiting it and entering the next at the northwest airfield. Didn't test more than that since its very unlikely you're going to hit someone through two hangers.

Right, I remember them adding them in experimental and I recall they were working properly, but as of now in stable they aren't working. Just not sure if they're aware its broken. Seems just slightly unbalanced as a female character would make almost no sound while sprinting with an axe out, considering there would be no breathing, clanking, and barely any footsteps. They can be nearly silent while moving full speed and dangerous.

I know I should report this as a bug but I'm fairly new to forums and such so I'm not sure how. Anyway, heres whats going on. I create a character, set as female and I play with a friend who has recently started playing. They commented on how they like the sounds of your weapons rattling around on your back (m4/mosin). It made me realize that sound wasn't playing for me, I also noticed there was no heavy breathing coming from my character no matter how much I ran or held right click to zoom. Later I died and spawned as a male character. Oddly enough all of the sounds that were missing from my female character were now playing. I know at one point when I played experimental there were heavy breathing sounds added for female characters, but it seems they are broken now. Key point: Certain sounds aren't playing while playing as a female character. Sounds include heavy breathing and the rattling/clanking sound of your gun while its on your back. Also I'm sure they're aware of it but sprinting with an axe out doesn't make as much noise as it should, it only plays 1 footstep sound every 2-3 steps. Just pointing this out, if someone knows how to report this please do.

I have found 2 total, one in a police station in the cell, the other in a piano house in front of the cabinet next to the shelves under the stairs. You are not able to repair it with a sewing kit because one of the ones I did find was damaged and I tried to repair it but it gave me the message it isn't mendable. Both were found in Krasnostav, the town by north east airfield. Hope this helps.

I agree with Ramzzzeee and Duenan. Both of those songs fit very well and are what comes to mind when I associate music with DayZ.

Agreed. It wouldn't make sense to have an american weapon such as the m4 and not any variants of the ak. Also I love the Aug as well, would be a pretty unique addition, as its not used in many other games (excluding counter-strike). No other gun I'd love to have more in DayZ than an Aug at this point.

I was shot at in a town, I ran out and up the hill with my mosin and kept watch for the guy in town. Eventually I saw him and took a shot and missed. He was pinned and no where to go without me seeing. They could have easily combat logged by time I changed positions for a clear shot on them. However, he stayed. I ended up killing him but I did not get a chance to talk to him, but if I could i'd have shown respect for sticking out the fight even though it was clearly in my favor. I agree with you 100% except the last part. This guy did have the drop on me, and I ended up getting them but in that situation they could have easily logged, so I had to give respect. Point is, its very situational. Sometimes its alright, sometimes you just have to give them respect, even if they shot first.
