Wow am I glad I found this thread today. What fortune! I'm sitting here bored at work and thinking about last nights DayZ episode and found this thread. I got a doozy true story. Scared the bejesus outta me. It was dusk and I was hiding on a ridge line over some little town. Not one of the common areas and I'd have to look at the map to give you the name. The town was so small I was scoping it out and deciding to just go around as I was already kitted out with what I like and there was no need to go down. I put my bino's away and came up to a crouch deciding which way to travel. That's when I heard it.... "Sounds like jingley bells..." I thought. I'm watch the town where I can hear this and sure enough up the one main road in this no where town comes a large white van. "WTF... is that what I think it is?" I say out loud as I quickly fummble for my bino's again in the fading light. I get the eye pieces up and train the view on the white van. There's some russian writting on the side and the picture of a large ice cream cone. "Holy shit!," I think. "Someone has fixed up an ice cream truck!!" I'm completely disarmed by this and laughing to myself as I decide I just have to go down and investigate this further. Why not, eh? Seems legit right? lol The guy wasn't even aggroing the 4 zombies out in the fields around this one horse town. So I pick my way down carefully, aided by the growing dusk I get bolder as I come closer to the truck. I angle myself towards the road leading out of town that the slow moving van will drive by on. I position myself in the grass by the road and wait as this truck comes rummbling up, one head light working. It's going so slow and I flip my AK to automatic as I proceed to step out into the openess of the bare road. I'm not going to shoot the guy, I just thought I had to meet the Ice Cream Man. I'm releived that he doesn't hit the gas and drive at me so I think "This is going well so far.... maybe I can get a lift." The truck pulls up next to me and its fairly dark out now. The white van and open field we are in is eeriely lit by the stars and a half moon. I talk over Direct Channel. "Was up bro! Sweet ride, can I get a lift to the next town?" I say laughing out loud. The response had a pucker factor that would put ya through the roof. "Aauurrg... sure. Get in...." this raspy voice eminates from the drivers window. I'm so disarmed by the merry sight of a big white ice cream truck and its merry music that I'm to stupid to be scared. "Hahha nice one bro. Trying to be scarey and shit." I say over Direct as I screw up my courage and step into the light so i can get into the vehicle. I'm putting my reticle on the door so I can enter the van when the head turns to look at me slowly. An icey gripe of fear begins to turn my intestines liquid. The head rotates and I'm staring into the grisly pale and bloodied face of an Infected! "Need a ride?" he rasps.... I was frozen for many seconds. It was a long time really to be starring at the Ice Cream Man face to face. I freaked and bolted as fast as I could. I just sprinted across the field and right through those 4 wandering zombies. No problem, I loose them in the forest easy enough but my heart rate will not slow down. I'm hyperventilating. I want my Mom. I come back to the ridge line over looking the town thinking "WTF just happened? how am I alive? Has he marked me?" I'm just in time to see the Ice Cream Man slowly make his way down the road and out of town. Where he was going I have no idea. All he left behind of his extistence was a cheery melody of childrens bells fading into the night. I shit my pants and disco'd right away. Never going back there. Never! If you're out and about in the night and come across little no name towns I'd stop and listen for the Ice Cream Man if I was you. Then I'd run the other way.....

LOL oh oh. Wez been found out! Keep being a bandit, and we'll keep hunting. Our paths will cross one day. On Topic: I agree with the OP - some way of distinquishing people that make a hobby of killing innocents would, simpley put, make my job eaasier. That's all.

Not exactly. We work a system. We killed BANDITS. We do not "hunt people", nor shoot at people. We shoot at BANDITS. Boom! BANDIT, dead. It's been a good day. Retire back to camp and let's eat bacon.

Hey OP, don't listen to the tards above my post. NOT everyone is a bandit. Team up. I dont mean in game try to team up, that will get u killed by the list of tards posting above me. Gets some friends to play and join a Team Speak server. A lot more fun, a lot more safe from teh cowardly tards posting above me. Once u have a couple buddies, now u can play Day Z. I mean Bandit Hunt Z. Best game ever. We have tons of success. Booya bitches!

Hatchet main weapon. 1911 sidearm. get matches, water bottle, knife. Then u are free to roam at will. Pick up or discard equipment as u get it and as you see fit. If ur online with a buddy or two I'd switch out the hatchet (let someone else do it) because as much as I like the hatchet and its duo-functionality nothing feels (or looks) better in your hands than an assault rifle. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Haha I think you mean "bump"? But now that I think of it "push" works in a weird Euro way.. ^_^ I think this is a know glitch, you are so far off the map that you'll never know what direction to go to run back (if that's even possible). Since you lost your gear already I suggest clicked Respawn to kill your character and get the game to spawn you in again (hopefully on the beach) Don't rage when you loose your gear. Not worth the energy you spend doing that as you'll loose your gear many many times over. Sometimes because of you and sometimes because the game glitches... it just happens. Remember, this is a game in development, not a finished product. The First Rule of Chernarus----> Don't get attached to your gear!

What!!?? Oh man, I've played this game at least 4 times a week for hours each time for the last 4-5 weeks No Dews for me.... i suxor...

HAHa. No on the second aggro we high-tailed it out of town. Lost site of the banditos! Lucky hit on my buddy broke his leg. Like I said now its back to hair raising survival man. What this game is about, not cowardly camping shooting innocents and gigling away in ur moms basement. Take sniper rifles out of the game (mostly). And add bacon for christs sake!

My friend and I had the same thought last night. We're both all kitted out with what we like. We are not murerdous bandits nor cowards to snipe whomever from 1/2 mile away. So what do we do? We went raiding a town for fun and the off chance of finding a vehicle. We aggro'd a ton of zombies (semi-intentionally) and fought them off. What do we care right? We got hand guns, hatchets and rifle ammo to spare. Then we hid as a group of 3 people went by us. Didn't know them or their intentions. However, when they passed close by us we got the "bandit heart beat" from them. AS I said we're not murders but we will and HAVE killed bandits on site. All for the better of everyone else right? I know, you're welcome. We tracked them through town trying to sneak up for a little 2 on 3 surprise action. We aggro'd zombies. Oops. Not on purpose this time. Now we are out in ther wilderness, low on ammo, my buddy is crawling through a wide open field cause of a broken leg. I am ranging out ahead to deer stands etc (do I chance a Hosp by myself??) looking for morophine. The one supply we didn't have. Game on! (again) Woot! I love Day Z and bacon.

AND....... No truer words have been spoken. Very very sad state of affairs as far as this game concerned. I'm glad to see more and more people starting to think like this. In a civilian based map (with couple LITTLE military out posts), with civilian towns, buildings, houses, hospitals, and farms why are there SO MANY high grade military weapons? Doesn't make senses to the story line and lops the game over to a sniper fest instead of the intended groups trying survive. this is not a sniper training school after all. I'd take every single sniper rifle out of the game (except a few, they's be a rare gem to find) as well as MOST of the high grade militray assault rifles. In a predominately CIVILIAN world here there should be far more COMMON weapons. Shot guns, hand guns, few bolt action rifles (iron sites only) and maybe JUST A FEW AK's, M16's, and snipers. You want to be a cowardly bandit? Well it makes sense since most of them HIDE in a bush 700m's away and shot an unsuspecting innocent survivor LOL. You REALLY want to be a bad ass bandit? Then fukin EARN IT! Come hunt me on foot. Track me as I move house to house for loot. Then kill me. If you can. I think this would make the mod so much more fun, more realistic, and FAR more cowboy instead of the pussies that are enabled to HIDE like COWARDS... LOL Really I'm not ranting. This is good informative stuff. I eat bacon. A lot.

Hey Izziee, what ur beef with me? Your post and my post say the exact same thing, albeit you said it nicer is all. Way to go man. I didn't try to sound like Rambo but if thats what u read into my post then I get ur hostility. I dont dig people like that either. But I can tell by ur post ur a survivor. Wether alone or with a friend. Just like me. Don't u agree if people fail enough times and can't get the hang of it that it then drives them to the forums where they grief about the "games porked, the games to hard" that they're doing it wrong. Like come on! The game IS NOT TO HARD. <--- and that does not make me a rambo dude. Being able to get off the beach everytime, finding loot and a weapon everytime, and meeting up with friends inland EVERYTIME, makes me a Rambo. Booya mofo!

I'm in on this thread! I'm one of those guys that bought ARMAII just to play DayZ. This idea Rocket is playing with could explode with unlimited potential down the road. Thank you Rocket. I will go home and eat a pound of bacon in your honour tonite.

HAhaha this game is "too hard"? LOL kidding right? Clearly you're not doing it right. Myself and my buddies have had our characters for awhile now. Now we're just running from town to town looking for a car cause we've never found one yet. All I can say is go slow. If u agro 1 or 2 zombies RUN! Go thru buildings and around corners TRYING NOT TO pick up a whole zombie train in the process. If you do get a train going, See rule 1, RUN! Same thing, thru buildings and around corners. Sometimes come to a stop around a corner and crouch. See if u lost them yet. It will work. Also try playing on a server that is late afternoon into dusk. As it gets darker your eye and ear sound meters go way down. You can crouch run practically invisible. And its still light enough for you. Game is not hard. Challenging at times, yes.

I still think this idea has incredible merit and I congratualate the OP. Take out military grade weapons with IR scopes. Take out .50 anti-material weapons. Take out 203 launchers. I'm not saying you would never see one of these expensive, highly specialized rare weapons ever again... but there's no way they should be this common on this map. I know the CZ550 is a scoped civilian rifle and should be common. But not ALL civilian hunting rifles are scoped. How about taking the scope off of 3/4 of found CZ's? We can argue/discuss the symantics of this all day. But the MAIN POINT is that we are civilian survivors, in a civilian world, looking for civilian gear/supplies. Finding a military grade weapon should be a RARE PRIZE TO BE CHERISHED! Currently I pass up AK's and M4's left and right cause I prefer the hatchet... lol WTF Just try it. Try it for one update. lol watch the forums erupt then! lol

I AGREE whole-heartedly with the OP. Something to consider here... this is a survival game based on CIVILIANS scavenging for the basics of life. I think the spirt of the game implies that. Just regular joe's that are thrust into an emergency situation. No where does this game lead you to believe that you and ur buddy on TS are ex-Navy SEALS and go to town sniping noobs all over a city. Let's face it regular and "common" weapons (pistols, shotguns, civilian rifles etc) are FAR more common than elite sniper military grade weapons. They just wouldn't be as prevalent as they are in the game. I would love to see military rifles severly limited in the game. How about tons of pistols, few civilian type rifles/shotguns (yes "some" of those would be scoped) and just a FEW military grade weapons. Why can I run out into the country side in some second world country, find a deer stand (civilian hunting place/built by civilians) and pick up a specialized military sniper/assault rifle?? WTF? Doesn't make sense.

Shooting someone on site (cause u just surprised each other coming around a corner or something) is unavoidable sometimes, part of the game. Sitting on a hill over Cherno or on a roof top looking to actively hunt people down and kill them just for the sake of it are 2 different things. One ok, sh!t happens, whatever. The other sadly lame.

YA, this will really take away from the thrill of coming out of a tree line and spotting a smoldering wreck out in a field. Now people can just run straight here and load up on DMR's and head back to Cherno.... LOL Lame

Dear Mr OP. Cry u must, Thinking this game a bust. Oh how wrong u are, Misunderstanding the bar. Said game is yet an Alpha, Not even in Beta. Surprised u will be have a spot of tea Mr Limey! Did u think u were buying a final product readu for mass market? Who's fault is that? As another person already noted you bought ArmaII with operation Arrowhead (to play DayZ). U just bought a complete first person shooter game with a huge add-on package. Go play that for awhile. I'll rattle my zipper when DayZ V2.0 is ready for gripers like yourself. Thank you.
