The hackers: 1) would argue that it IS fun 2) feast upon your tears/reaction if people just moved on like it was nothing, they'd get bored and nice along as well. Not all of them, but some. -
A while back I was playing at night and was surrounded by some of the sweet, sweet 1.7.1.1 zombies. I was trying to crawl my way to safety when I saw motion out of the corner of my eye. I snapped to the left and spotted a cuddly little bunny rabbit. I didn't shoot him because I didn't want the attention from zombies and I had no matches. It was near the barn in Msta if you want to go find him.

I'd have either taken it or given you some morphine, had I seen this earlier. I've got basically nothing right now, save some medical supplies, and so it's been fine either way (trap or actual transaction). Cheers for trying however. -
I'm not saying storage needs to be removed, just that persistent storage that remains for multiple generations removes a large portion of the game's risk/reward atmosphere. When a clan stocks up on meds, food, ammo, and guns they are no longer working to survive. That is why they get bored and turn to PvP; half of the game is gone. People who come on here and say that they've got 'all the gear' and now they're bored likely did not get that gear in one 'lifetime'. And if they die, they'll still have most of it. My point is that, should a person reach that point, they should burn the tent and play without one. Start over and see how long/far they can go with a single life and no support from their 'previous' self. It'll add a challenge back to the game, I promise.

I like 1.7.1.5 a great deal. Never broken a bone, never been glitch killed, only once have I had a crazy transdimensional zombie get me through a wall. And I get to play with other people, which a private server does not offer, and IMO is a big part of the DayZ experience. -

They are attracted to sound, light, and motion. That's why cans and smoke grenades work. Pop a flare at night and throw it onto the edge of a town. All the zombies will slowly gravitate in that direction. -

Rather than gear farm or PvP, why not try the (short) life of a wasteland medic? Lots of threads about it, it sounds like the most difficult way to play the game. Alternatively, you could try running as a guard for a medic and see how long you can keep them alive. There's also world record attempts to be had. Like, "The largest field ever completely covered in barbed wire" and "The biggest Zombie pen ever constructed".

I play it solo (although I'm trying to meet up with some friends) and I am enjoying the game quite a bit. You get out, what you put into it. If you want a fast PvP game, you'll get bored/frustrated. If you want a PvE game, you'll get bored/frustrated. If you want a PvP + PvE game, you'll get bored/frustrated. But if you want a game where you spend HOURS slowly getting invested in some marginal piece of gear, then start jumping at shadows because you are so afraid that a PLAYER is hunting you, only to stumble over a bug, break your leg, and then CRAWL for 2 HOURS to reach a town and PRAY that there is some goddamed morphine there, only to get eaten by a zombie (who may or may not be glitching through walls/obstacles/magically appearing out to no where) and forced to start over on the coast with NOTHING, then DayZ is for you. You'll love it. I know I do.

Yes, but the fact that the Wasteland MD's thread is full of Medics and the fact that there are now multiple people trying the 'Medic experiment' would indicate that, in spite of rampant banditry, people are still giving it a go. It's a VERY difficult play style. So it only makes sense that people try it once they feel like they've 'beaten' the PvP version of the game (or just gotten bored). -

I've twice met other players and not shot on sight. Once was even in the Balota Airfield, and neither of us killed the other. Last night I was in Electro and trailing 20+ zeds on my tail. While running someone direct commed me and asked if I was friendly. I had no idea who or where they were, so I miced back that I was. As I ran out of town an unknown person shot and killed the last zed who was on my tail. Not everyone is hostile. The medic threads show that, once people fire of pvp, other options will be explored. Just have faith in your fellow man (and don't be a total dumbass). Humanity will surface on its own. -

I'd guess it's not in the spirit of things, since it will make players easier to spot. There is also this issue: - Wildlife removed from Chenarus and Utes Which will at the very least remove your ability to hunt, and may screw with DayZ in other ways. I'd pass on it. *EDIT* Also this from their notes: - More visible to AI (untested)

NVGs are ultra rare. The guy had 2 of them, the rarest backpack, a very rare rifle, and a questionable suppressed weapon. He was a hacker. -

Because my wife just gave birth to a beautiful set of twins. I'm a super proud new father, and I love my babies, but I still find myself unwinding by thinking about this game. Thanks for making such an addictive game Rocket. I feel like my family's chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse get better and better with each new hotfix. Can you add baby formula into 1.8.0?
