people already know where most people go, otherwise it wouldn't be where most people go... this map would just sum it up. mostlikely it will be the three airfields, stary sobor, devil's castle, berenzino and the coast lines. oh noes, the secrets revealed! -

more than likely, lulz its a 225qkm map, 50 ppl fit on one server. i can run for hours and even days without seeing any other player. the only real downside of spawning inside buildings is: you will likely despawn all the loot. -

Yes and no. i personally enjoy the way sounds creep me up when i crawl through a town or run through the woods. BUT, for the sake of realism, when you hear a sound, there has to be a source. and right now, most of the time i don't even care anymore because i know its just a random sound being played. so it could be done like this: when a zombie/player/animal walk into a fence or a gate, or if a rabbit is dashing through the underbrushes right behind you, the according sounds are played. immersion & authenticity! on the other hand, sound in this game is generelly borked in a bad way. your own sound, sounds by zombies, gunshots are generelly way to loud, and sounds don't fade over distance. volume is just stepwise adjusted to your range from the object. i hope this is one of the things being addressed in arma 3 <3 -
try to survive. hunt in the woods, eat animals and drink water from lakes. explore the map. play with friends. be the one that kills, instead of being killed. get a group going. raid a clanbase. get a helicopter. build a tent city. get a boat. settle on an island. try to find a radio. jump of the radio tower while listening to what its saying. respawn at the coast. turn on your brain. DAYZ IS YOUR STORY.

It fits in very well. Cars are bound to earth and streets. If you want heli action (once they are back in game) get in a clan. If you don't want to get in a clan, steal one from them. If you don't want heli action, then what the hell? Don't fly one... -

loosing your stuff because of hacking is one reason to ask for a reset. but unfortunately, it seems they can't do that anymore due to the mass amount of requests they get. i have yet to see a hacker in dayz, maybe i am just that lucky? this, or EU servers must be hacking-free save heavens. -

bullets and guns are the currency in dayz, and people farm them just as they do in other games. just that, in dayz, it is common practise and considered ok to do.

humanity is a concept that works in an organized civilization, which does not exist in dayz. rule of thumb: shoot or be shot. -
it really makes me wonder how bad commercial games are these days, when a beta version of a sim, together with an alpha test of a mod, makes more fun and has less gamebreaking problems. hats off to that.

traces of other people ingame, i actually found them. i picked up a map, which another player dropped (i guess he found a second map and accidently swaped it) how do i know this? because the map contained landmarks i have not made, i even made a screenshot of one group. the landmarks you make seem to be server bound just like tents and vehicles. and they stick to the map if you drop it. it contained landmarks for at least EU16 and EU4, not really sure but i think i saw more marks on other servers as well. then i accidently hit the respawn button, and sure enough the server restarted twice shortly after, so i couldnt loot it again. this map was like the most valueable piece i have found so far, something truely unique. i was looking forward to visit all the spots on all known servers, just to check out what could have made them so important for this player. meh. edit: i like the ideas above, especially the recorder. maybe we can also find pen and paper, to make notes about stuff, which could as well be looted by other players. this would add depth to the game and be very exciting to find new things, created by OTHER players. i would definetly write something like a dayz diary, things i have seen/encountered throughout the day. reading this written by another player would be more intense then anything i've experienced so far in this game, and i think implementation could be easily done... don't need fancy animations, simple context menue, record from mic via direct chat for the recorder, and a plain notepad view with a textarea to type in - i don't know if something like this already exists in arma2.

Ideas to Create an Authentic Endgame

well, i think the game already gives us sort of what we need. the features suggested in the OP will definetly make the game even more interesting, but first, we need to teach people to use teamwork and form groups. the castles ingame are pretty good places for squads/clans to use as a base. devil's castle seem to be a very popular example, whereas zub/rog/black mountain seem to be more like "tourist spots", i never find another player in them. if people would actually try group play ALOT more, it could look like this: capture a base, get some organisation going and preferably guard it 24/7 on one server. organize raids on castles on different servers, or eventually try to take over another base on the same server. all of this can already be done without any additional content, it just needs teamwork and people willing to LEAD, and more people willing to FOLLOW. this game could be so much more interesting, if people would just try to think for themselves, instead of requesting a shit ton of new endgame-content features from the dev's. no offense at the OP, because i think these suggestions might be a good addition to this idea. just had to get this out there. Edit: and please, for the love of the dayz gods, no save zones. trading place? well, you can just go and make one. pick a place without any zombies close, announce it to the server and wait for people to come. if you do that successful over a period of time, people will remember the spot and return there. if enough people return there, it will eventually spread on to other servers. and you could be the one starting all this. remember, dayz is YOUR story. maybe at one point, the devs will make some towns zombie free, so people could go there to trade, but for now you could just use any remarkable location in the open. bring your mates to the trade, and if you get killed, well... you trade lifes then, seems fair to me.
