as long as you don't start A:OA from within YOUR account through steam, yes.

you don't have to reinstall -.- assuming no spyware is stealing your keys. trust me, i am doing that stuff regularly, running 3 characters.

you can buy the game on another account, without the need to reinstall the files. just login to the other account and start the game from within steam. the key in registry will update to the new one. once you did that, you can start the game without steam, like dayzcommander. never start the game from within your old account, or you'll be back at your old key. but as said, first make sure your pc is clean. or you'll just buy again. just deleting the stuff you downloaded is not enough.

sounds like you caught yourself a trojan/virus of some sort. make sure to reinstall your whole computer, you want to be safe before installing another key. don't bother with antivirus/antispyware, too late for that. and since you bought on steam, can't buy the same game again from that account. have to buy another version (like arma x or some other bundle) or make a new steam account would work too. or just buy the game on amazon. and next time, stick with dayzcommander or official guides. *additional hint: change all your passwords after cleaning your pc, if not to late already*

the same logic applies to every game server, i've been through this multiple times, and it all comes down to one simple rule: to populate a server, it needs to have an initial amount of players in it. noone will join an empty server if there are so many more packed with players. one common technic is to have multiple players idle, it might work, but unless the server fills up fast, it's not gonna work that way, since there is no action going on. also, usually you don't have enough folks at hand, willing to play on your server only, at any given time of the day. you need to attract foreign players, and there is only one possible way to do that, you need to offer something that is rare or not yet available. once you have your idea, build your community around that. see the private hive section for examples - some offer assloads of vehicles, others offer custom loadout or special loot tables. but you will need a bit more then just mixing up gameplay elements, you need something unique to really stand out from the crowd. but if you can achieve that, players will eventually become regular players and if you have enough of those your server population will basically maintain itself. like the server Grain mentioned, 3rd person OFF alone is so rare these days, that it's actually a good way to attract hardcore players. (and btw, check it out, it really is the best possible dayzmod server to play on these days. period) granted, BMRF has more ressources to do stuff, they add custom buildings on the map and add additional mods to enhence gameplay experience (sound mods, etc) running a game server is hard business, competition is brutal. if you really want to get into that, be warned. you'll definetly need alot of motivation and patience.

i personally consider it cheating even though it's allowed, it still effectively works like a cheat - like it allows you to do things you shouldn't be able to do. remember ghosting in CS? exactly like 3rdp (wallhack) or nameplates & distance markers (ESP) i am a hardcore player, and using stuff like teamspeak or external maps leaves a bad taste in my mouth. however, without TS i wouldn't be able to play with my friends, because they for sure wouldn't pass on teamspeak just to add more realism. direct chat is to clunky and not really useful in combat situations. also, playing without teamspeak will put you in a major disadvantage when playing competitive, because you can expect that everyone else is using it. so i am ok with using it, as long as there is nothing equal in the actual game. for now i just restrict my inner hardcore nerd to when i play alone. i hope rocket will get something to work with radios and some sort of ACRE functionality in the SA...

will the tree and bush models allow for some sort of wind blowing animation?

clouds will have to move accordingly, but most of the time i just see one grey mass, so could's ain't save to go after. you could lick your finger tip and point it in the air the question is, how would you implement that as game mechanic without making it look awkward maybe you'd need a compass, and for like 3 seconds, it could show an blinking indicator with the rough range of the direction the wind is coming from that would be best solution imo

didn't make that clear so if you are only in for DayZ, imho, neither wait for DayZ SA from what i can say now, once i play SA, i don't see any reason why i'd ever look back to the mod. So if you can wait, spare the money and maybe upgrade your pc if needed ;) if you also plan to take a go at Arma, it depends what you expect - of course Arma 3 will have more features than Arma 2, but Arma 2 has been patched for a bunch of years and with the help of DayZ eventually became really playable. i am playing Arma 3 already and its still quite glitchy, as to be expected with an alpha release. so expect issues down that way. People buying Arma 3 can give out 3 codes each to invite players, so if you know someone ask before shelling out the money, though if you buy now it will be cheaper then for the full release.

:beans: but is it wrong if i'd much rather just watch and listen to shannon for 3 hours :blush: still have to find the time though :/ don't want to, don't need to. it's more like i am actually part of the game, how it should be. this is true immersion, as much as it's currently possible. i've tried triple head, it will surely help, but is not neccessery. but i guarantee you can't get that in your magical 3rdp out-of-body experience, that's for sure. don't know about you, but i can. it's called freelook. and it works perfectly, just as IRL. actually useful in many situations, not only to see if your foot sticks out. after a while you won't even need that and get a feeling for such things. if you'd actually try and get 1stp to work, and not look for excuses to use 3rdp, there'd be much less to discuss about. however, it appears rocket will give in to all the casuals and make it up to the server owners. so basically nothing will change in this regard, 1stp only enthusiats are missing out :( and that although rocket even admits to be one of us. weak i say!

when stuff disappears from your backpack / tent / car / inventory, it will appear somewhere on the ground in your vicinity. however, finding it can be tough depending on the size / color of the item and the ground texture / vegetation. *bonus hint* setting object detail to lowest might help

this made zero sense. but, if you have no fun in a game you play, mabye you should just consider to go play something else. instead of posting the same old story for the umpteenth time. if you want teammates, play with friends. having great fun in dayz here, and still going strong. btw, i'm 30 years old. 800 posts w00t *dances*

whats the big deal anyways? spawn in, bleed to death, try to get back there in time before restart, loot your stuff. i can't see how using a 2 characters at the same time would make any difference, except if your dying character is wearing clothes you want to save. and even if that fails, you can easily get everything you had back within a few hours. i don't think its possible to run arma2 twice with different keys, but i guess you can always try... run arma2 with key1 change key run arma2 with key2 now that really isn't rocket sience...
