    My overall vision for DayZ

    "but not the defining facet to this game." Then it (DayZ) shouldn't claim to be the apocalypse game that it claims to be. I love DayZ, but at this point, and even with the roadmap... It doesn't look to ever become the game that NikoGT envisions... same goes for me. And that is why I've put my attention into other games that will try that.
  2. Am using Ural towing only on my server, works great... However, how can I properly eliminate the extra action mouse scroll options (yellow). 2 of which are when looking at loot: "Take this object" "Load in..." And the other is when looking at/accessing a vehicle: "View the vehicle content" Any help getting rid of these options would be great!

    Devs, please make this game!

    I've been reading what others have been saying about the zombies in the new patch being too hard or too fast or too many... I've heard people whine and cry about loot being too hard to find, guns and attachments being too hard to find, etc. To these people, grow up and go play something else IMO. After watching several of Rocket's interviews from Rezzed, I think the vision of what I personally feel DayZ is supposed to be will actually become a reality. Make the game hard, or at least give server hosts an option to alter the actually difficulty of their servers... nothing too fancy w/ specific loot quantites or zombie quantities and such, but maybe an "Easy", "Normal", and "Hardcore" selection that will just give a general basis for zombie numbers/difficulty and loot quantities/qualities. I have several hundred hours banked into both the Mod and Standalone, I can more than handle myself in gun battles, but the whole "Get geared up and go PVP until you die, then do it again" mentality is kind of silly IMO. I know that this is supposed to be more of a apocalypse survival game, rather than a version of Arma w/ zombies in it. I realize some players or groups of players are naturally going to be bandits, and that is awesome for gameplay, however its almost what everyone does, including myself... right now anyway. I know that camping/hunting/barricading/more complex health system will be coming into play, and I really hope this curves the hell out of the strictly PVP side of the game. I feel as the game could be and potentially will be revolutionary in how multiplayer games can be played. What I don't like is the large amount of people I've seen in various places, here and Reddit for example, that either just trash the game, say how shitty it is (for a 3 month old Alpha FFS), or cry about every little change that gets made, like loot quantites and zombie speeds and such. It is discouraging to me to see a lot of people want the game to be what I consider "dumbed-down" and kind of a "hold-your-hand"... where everything is easy. The environment and the zombies should be the hardest parts of playing the game IMO, not the PVP aspect. One day I'd love to be in Elektro and not worry about 10 people camping and shooting eachother, rather someone trying to get food, running through the streets begging for help because they spent their only mag trying to clear a building they thought might have a can of beans in it. Make good loot hard to find, make zombies hard as hell, make the environment a constant pain in the ass... then I think we'll have a truly awesome game to play. Now that I have that rant out of my system, bring on the backlash. LOL!

    I would naturally play as a neutral player or a hero style... however I have been KOSed so many damn times it's ridiculous when all I try to do is communicate with someone. I mean, shooting someone without them knowing in DayZ is lame IMO, as far as banditry, I am more into holding people up, taking a few things, making sure they can't shoot me when I let them go, and then off I go on my marry way... I don't feed people rotten fruit, or disinfectant spray, or steal stuff from them, then shoot them anyways... I might vampire them, hand them a couple tins of food so they can heal themselves, and continue on my way. That is how I like to play DayZ, but with the amount of KOS that goes on now, it almost forces you to shoot first and ask questions later. There absolutely have been instances where I say something like "Put your f*cking weapon down or I will shoot you!" and they actually listen and then a nice interaction happens, but this is pretty rare anymore. I can say that when Experimental servers were a different build, that I had a lot better interactions there than on Stable servers, just for the fact I think more people were genuinely checking out new additions to the game and didn't want to get in a gun battle because of it. As far as zombies ruining gear... I'm not super worried about a lot of the gear most of the time, but I agree they could turn down the actual damage to your gear a little bit so it just didn't ruin a shirt or pants in 1-2 hits, along with everything inside. I mean, if the zombie wall clipping/collision detection is fixed... double the zombie numbers if not more, keep them fast (if they don't do random speeds like we talked about earlier)... force people to be careful and think about what they are going to do before they sprint into an urban area. I think I heard somewhere in development mention that doors would eventually make noise when you open them, along with other things... I think this is awesome and will be welcomed by me. I am thoroughly tired of games that are easy, or even mediocre difficulty... A lot why I mentioned why I wanted to see a true hardcore function in the game/some servers. I do enjoy games like Project Zomboid and Neo Scavenger that really test the player about decisions they make.

    Well, the glitchy gameplay I automatically assumed should be fixed. I would hope anyway, but we are talking about the Arma engine also... I think there may be some mild glitchiness to it no matter what the devs do, but I could be totally wrong. The random run speeds is a fantastic idea IMO, and realistically I wouldn't think it would hard to do inside the game. I'm not entirely sure how in depth they plan on going with the dexterity and speed of a character depending on what gear they have on, but I am sure a mechanic could be implamented, similar likely to how a weapon/attachments will affect the speed in which a player draws the gun up to shoot, which Rocket had talked about recently. Then if you are fully geared vs. fresh spawn, and/or healthy or hungry/thirsty could affect this also, your run speeds could be different depending on a couple different things. I do think the ability to sneak around w/o agro should be increased some, to where you may have to take your time looting around and be somewhat more careful in a zombie populated area... which just leads to better immersion really. Even with the faster zombies, they are still just a nuisance to an area rather than a real threat IMO, even when fresh spawn. I think the game needs to push players to use their head and survive... this is a survival game, so if players want to be successful at a survival game, put aspects of the game in place that push people to do just that. I know Dean likes to refer to Project Zomboid and Skyrim several times, and I may have heard him talk about doing a skill system similar to Zomboid does, where the more you say, cook, the better and more effecient you got at cooking with a specific character. This would have to be well thought out in DayZ, since it isn't technically an RPG game, but IMO would work really well.

    I just know that what I'm saying is merely an opinion... hoping that most of the true DayZ fans want something similar to what I stated above, but with anything, people have different opinions.
  7. In general, I love the complexity of this game... Have followed it for a long time, played the mod quite a bit, and have banked over 100 hrs into DayZ. The blood types is great, from what I've seen that is supposed to be coming with different type of illnesses would be awesome. A complex crafting system, like what we've seen with the IEDs (paint can, timer, road flare, duct tape I believe)... love it, would love to see all sorts of that type of crafting. The more complex with health, damage, etc., etc., etc. the game is made, the more I will enjoy and play the shit out of it. Obviously in early alpha there are a lot of things the guys are going to add in, test, then move onto the next group of things. I personally would like to see gestures able to be done on the move, a load more zombies if server load can handle it... stay away from a ton of buildables and vehicles. A very slight amount of vehicles, and make the parts super rare and a lot of different things to fix a vehicle to a driveable state. I think the need to treasure everything you have should carry throughout the entirety of the game, and make it tough to survive. The Devs have potentially developed the most revolutionary game out there IMO, and I think they have big plans to uphold that from what I can see so far. Props to Bohemia, Hall, and his team.

Whoever wins the few missions per server start will reap the benefits!   9. Take cloths has been added to the server feature list. There were a few minor issues w/ the traders that seem to have been resolved. Come join us and have some fun!

  12. I've seen a common problem with people trying to join 1.0.2.5 Epoch servers lately... make sure you have updated your Epoch version before trying to join or you will not be able to join the server. Thanks!
  13. I have just finished editing the entire trader pricing and have added weapons, ammo, etc. into the trader inventories. These changes are specifically made to increase buying prices and decrease selling prices to make it a little tougher on everyone to get rich quick. Time to work a little harder, I have made Epoch a little more challenging! Come join us and beat the odds!
