    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

So I guess based on the tweet that the new zombie engine will be part of standalone? If that happens to be true I don't know if I agree. Features often add instability and while the multiplayer test was a sucess. I can't help but wonder if the Alpha could have been out earlier without it. All I am saying is eventually it gets to be feature creep. What if a bad bug is discovered during public testing that requires them to make large changes to the code driving these features?

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Tasers would be okay if they were part of Standalone and were rare to find. But I 100 percent agree that I would rather SA lose quite a few players (That just don't get it) than allow modding and return right back to the mess it is today. And the game will continue to be improved. More features added. So even if a bunch leave. The numbers will come back.
  3. Why? You do know that the limited servers they will likely have for the first 24 hours will likely be completely full right? Waiting a few days after launch will likely lead to a better experience. Besides Rocket said again no date.

    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

All I am saying is that they missed a potential window. I am NOT saying they should have ignored major bugs and let it loose because Zombies and the holiday. However because they missed that window. It leads me to personally believe that it is either A or B. I would say B is far more likely. Why let an alpha loose to discover bugs that you already know and are fixing right now? Especially if the team is squashing them at a rapid rate.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Lifespan reduced compared to what? What other open world fast zombie game will be able to remotely compare to DayZ in the future?

    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

Well this is just my opinion but I think it is pretty safe to say that an October public alpha is out of the question. That is quite a huge window to miss. Yes obviously a holiday is not going to be any primary factor to decide to let an alpha. However, October is typically the most popular month when it comes to monsters and other horror based media. So again in my opinion my guess is that either. A) A major flaw was revealed in testing that could compromise the quality of feedback from early alphas. or B) They are killing so many bugs at such a rapid rate that there simply is no reason to go public alpha just yet. or C) The Dev team can't stop saying "MY PRECIOUS!" and/or comparing their characters in the closed alpha. Sooo.... Zombie Turkeys?
  7. Yes it would make it too easy because a friend could just spawn there and do the same thing. It does not belong in Standalone.
  8. Think about this for a second. They could have made Standalone the origional plan of "DayZ mod but standalone" Launched it by the end of 2012. And made a nice double dip for profitzzz. However instead they choose to go with Rocket's vision for DayZ instead. That cost them a great deal of money and as there are quite a few potential competitors now.. It just does not add up to make me think the company is only interested in money. So no. I think there is a greater chance for a snowball to survive a few days in a Texas summer than Rocket or the company selling out for the sake of profitzz.
  9. Again why would Rocket do that? It would be completely against his vision for DayZ and the company does not make CoD games. They make simulators.
  10. I HIGHLY doubt Rocket would do that.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Like I said. Such work would have to come over a patch. Steamworks is a terribad idea because that makes it stupidly easy to post maps that are nowhere near the DayZ experience. Keep DayZ locked down. Make the engine available for those who want to make their own games (Like Valve does with the Source engine)
  12. Actually the "Problem Solved" comes from Standalone not allowing any mods or private hives so that this madness ends.

Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.

A VAC ban in DayZ will be good enough.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

    Skyrim isn't multiplayer.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Read my post again. Of course Rocket and his team would likely reject maps that don't fit the vision of DayZ. However, that is not the main issue. The issue is how many people think it is perfectly okay to rip copyrighted material and submit it as their own. That is why allowing the community to submit maps that could be used in the closed Standalone would be a mess.

    Servers in SA?

Actually the opposite. I saw a huge increase in traditional Arma II servers during the DayZ boom.
  17. Hopefully this crap will not be in standalone. I had not looked at the state of the mod in close to half a year. (Mainly cared about standalone) but look at this crap. Self blood bags, pick where you spawn. Hell I was watching a stream and now they have this little gyrocopters that can drop bombs? WTF? Standalone can't come fast enough. Time for the true DayZ experience to return!

Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.

Also unless I am mistaken. They will be using Steamworks and that means VAC right? VAC is pretty damn good at punishing hacking that it can detect. Overall not a good environment for those who want to hack the game for the lols and that is a good thing for DayZ.

Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.

As said before. Unless they have managed to close every potential hole in the software a hacker could break through just like any other software. However, it will stop 99 percent of the "easy" hacking due to the way the Arma engine was designed.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

Think about it tho. Community made maps would be awesome. But who gets the task of looking through every texture and model involved to assure nothing is ripped from other copyrighted works? SA is going to be locked down. That means content has to be delivered through a steam update. A mess to say the least.

    Servers in SA?

DayZ should forever be unable to be modded. However the engine powering it should be licenced and made available as long as they create their own maps and art assets and do not call it DayZ in my opinion. Let's be honest. Some people simply wont "Get it" Look at the upcoming Mario game where if you die a few times you get a free powerup that makes you invincible for the rest of the level. The players who would like that will never like DayZ and will forever whine for the return of "5000 choppas!!11 Self blood bag!!" Once the engine work is done. Let it be like the Source Engine. Let it loose. Make some money from that and let those players be someone else's issue. That way everyone is happy.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

xX_frost-wolf_Xx, If you consider it selfish that we want the actual DayZ experience to return so be it. DayZ is not supposed to be easy mode self blood bag item helicopter etc... Yet that is what modding has done to "DayZ" Now again I think we can both have our cake and eat it as well. In the future it is of my opinion that BI should allow the engine that powers DayZ to be opened up for licencing and maybe even free for free projects. The deal should be. #1 You can use the engine and future improvements. #2 You are not provided with any art assets. #3 You are not allowed to claim it is DayZ. That way if one absolutely has to have that experience they can make it.

    Servers in SA?

I surely hope it will be a very long time after Version 1 that they decide to do this. Server admins will try to find ways to remove the difficulty to attract people to their server who can't accept the real DayZ experience. Now as I have said before. I would like if the "engine" behind the game could be made available for the community to make those experiences. But don't allow them to call it DayZ in my opinion.

    Self Blood Bags

Self Blood bag is one of the easiest ways to show how the mod has been absolutely ruined by modding. I wonder how many topics screaming for it to be added will be posted after Standalone launches.

    DayZ SA not being moddable

No modding for Battlefield 3 or CoD games after 4 is indeed a slap to the face of the community as it is obvious in my opinion that they did that to sell more DLC. However, there is a damn good reason DayZ standalone does not allow it for now. The modding community screwed itself when it decided to ruin the DayZ experience.
