I thought just like you OP until just yesterday evening. There I was fully geared out, bored, looking for action. I decided to put myself into harms way and walk into town firing my M16 into the air exhausting a full clip in hopes of attracting zombies and maybe even players alike. After killing about 15zombies and receiving no damage my legs were broken with one swing of a zombie. Realistic? Not really but that's beyond the point. I had everything I needed. Bandages, pain killers, plenty of water and cooked meat plus misc food. 8 Clips for my primary and 7 for my secondary yet... I had NO morphine. I felt like such a moron and more over completely vulnerable to anything or anyone likely to stumble upon me. I crawled for 1.5 hours from nearby town to nearby town looking for morphine with no luck when I saw a barn. I made my way inside on my belly and to my shock another player comes stumbling inside and quickly runs out after spotting me in the corner. I didn't have my mic plugged into my PC at all as I hardly use it and felt a bit of panic. I aimed my weapon toward the doorway to which he was last seen and used direct coms to chat and notify the player I was friendly, no response.... The barn had two entrances and after hearing the player open a can of soda I knew he was making his way behind me. I positioned myself and again pointed my weapon at the doorway ready to open fire at first sight. Again I called out I was friendly and not to fire. I even announced that my legs were broken broadcasting my vulnerability. He finally responded as friendly and thought of course he's probably tricking me. He announced he was going to enter, what could I do. Open fire, or let him in. I decided to let him in, in hopes that maybe just maybe he would be nice enough to provide any morphine he could spare. I did my little prone rolls left and right to avoid any incoming headshots until I noticed another gun pointed directly at me from behind.... his friend. Again I kept rolling and rolling ready to open fire at any moment. I had them outgunned but I was outnumbered, I was waiting for a fire fight and expected it to happen. To the contrary they were very nice and understanding, they apologized for having no morphine and cooked some meat in front of me in the same barn. They even offered to scour the town we were in for morphine for me but I declined telling them I had just cleared it. They offered to accompany me and even clear other towns but I felt like such a burden I waved goodbye and went on my own way. They saluted me on my way out. The point is, I was completely vulnerable and a sitting duck. Outnumbered and in truth I only had 4 rounds in the current mag of 8 I had stocked. I knew if we had a fire fight, even though I outgunned them, I would have died for not reloading. There are nice people out there, you just have to give them a chance. -Sorry for the long post.

You're kidding right? I was fairly geared until I broke my legs and after 2 hours of crawling around on my belly with no sight of morphine I just killed myself and respawned. By this time the server became night time. Spawning with nothing but a flashlight and a box of painkillers it was extreeeeeemely hard to find a weapon for me. When I did find one it was the enfield which I would have gladly traded for a hatchet. Needless to say I shot a zombie that I couldn't evade and was in direct threat of attracting more so I ran as far into the woods as I thought was needed, fired, and killed him. Of course by some miracle or tragedy a hoard of zombies came and killed me. I'd like to add that I think the game is difficult enough as it is right now. Something definitely needs to be worked on and developed for players after they get 'geared' out because I was extremely bored after being fully equipped and would often put myself in harms way just to get some action; However, as a new/respawning player, it's incredibly difficult right now. Also, travelling in prone does not keep you safe of zombies either. If you notice... you may not be visible but you are making sound, 1 bar to be exact. For most zombies this means nothing, but to the zombies in say 5-15 meters it attracts them. They don't know where you are and they cannot see you but they wander closer and closer eventually aggroing you. Another problem is when hugging structures with zombies inside, even if you are prone or crouched they aggro. I'm certain this is a bug as zombies shouldn't be able to see through walls but it's like the wall is not there for them. Line of Sight has been fixed for the most part but when hugging a wall I think that maybe a piece of you juts out the other side and immediately aggros a zed. -PAiN

Title pretty much sums it all up. In the real world the hatchet (to gather wood) and the flashlight (to illuminate the darkness) are both tools and thus should be categorized as such in order to be carried in the tool section of your inventory. Since the latest patches I am now unable to gather my own wood for cooking and I have no room to carry another primary weapon which is what the hatchet is now considered to be. It is also not worth it to drop my main primary (M16 M203) and risk it disappearing so that I can gather some wood.... -Thank you

I agree with the hatchet needing to be reverted as a tool as well. It makes no sense for the hatchet to be categorized as a weapon. I've been hunting, gathering and cooking my own meat since I started playing this mod and now I find myself unable to gather my own wood because I'm not going to drop my primary and have it disappear to carry a hatchet.... The Hatchet and while we are at it, the Flashlight are both tools in the real world thus they should both be categorized as tools in order to be carried in the tool section of your inventory. -Thank you

Before I knew that adjusting video settings was considered 'hacking/cheating' the night wasn't so bad. Since I corrected my settings.... the dark is ridiculously dark. It varies with specific monitors too which isn't that fair. I tested it with 3 monitors that I own and while I could see somewhat okay on one, it would be completely black on another. I mean pitch black to the point where I was staring my own reflection in my face wondering if my video card and/or monitor had died.... Another problem is that although you're trying to play legitimately I was still murdered by another player in complete darkness with no light around just giving evidence that he was cheating the lighting system. I wasn't holding a flare, there were no glowsticks or anything nearby, it was pitch and I was prone moving through a city in the far East side of the coast. This is alpha so I know it will be eventually addresses and set to something playable. I also have read that the latest patches and fixes have made adjusting video settings null; However, a bigger problem and one that many have noted is that servers are not running the latest patches as they come out. A closer observation also shows that even if the servers are running the latest patch/fix the players don't necessarily have to. In other words, a player can be playing using an older patch and is able to adjust his video settings to see in the dark. Meanwhile everyone else is playing in proper darkness.....

Well I feel your pain but honestly the thing that makes this game so great to me is the ability to lose everything in the blink of an eye even to something stupid. :)

I was just wondering how many active people you have playing at the moment? I'm looking to join a group myself because running alone is getting really dangerous these days :).

While you're at it can you pleas please pleaseeeeee make the hatchet a tool again so that it can easily be carried in the tool slot? There's no reason why it should be slotted as a weapon :(. The flashlight is also a tool in real life thus it should also fit in the tool section of your inventory. -Thank you

Suggestions: 1) Make the hatchet a tool so that it can be equipped in the tool slots instead of it being a general or side arm slot. 2) Make the flashlight a tool as well that can be equipped in the tool slots.

I found an MP5SD in a deerstand just this afternoon. I left it though because I have better, but they seem to be spawning loot just fine.

I've been playing with the latest patch 1.7.1.4 so far and I have only one complaint. Previous to the patch the hatchet was kept in the tool section/slot(s). After the patch I'm not sure what it's considered maybe misc or side arm inventory, I'm not certain because I have absolutely no room left to drop anything in order to find out. I'm running with the Alice pack and I'm stocked up to capacity. Leaving me with no tool to harvest wood to cook the meat that I find and harvest. Can we please revert the hatches to be categorized/stored into the tool section as it was please? -Thank you

I would prefer quiet over non stop meaningless chatter... There are a lot of in-game sounds you have to pay very close attention to.

I understand the frustration as I have lost some pretty awesome gear in similar situations but I have never heard of anyone getting their stuff back and I wouldn't hold my breath...

I haven't experienced what it's like to spawn without a weapon yet as I'm pretty well stocked and I haven't died in quite a while. Also, I stay away from major cities but this is all beyond the point. I think that spawning without a weapon might be a little too harsh especially now with the zeds having a much harder Line Of Sight to deal with. I don't know, like I said, I haven't experienced it myself yet but it sounds really difficult. Then again, evading zeds is so awesome that maybe surviving is possible...

Hello. I just updated my files to the latest patch/beta/whatever... Contrary to most of everyone else's problems I actually got it to work and logged into the world just fine after a few errors and Battleye problems. Right now I get some really really large lag spikes randomly no matter what server I join making it truly unplayable for me. Is anyone else experiencing lag spikes? I can't figure out if I did something wrong or if I'm missing something or what's going on. Previous to the latest patch I was running the game just fine and with no lag issues. I can't see to go 5min without hitting huge lag spikes in 1.7.1.1 -Thank you

If Rocket truly said that then I can feel a bit of relief but server admins can ban people at will for any reason they see fit :-\. There doesn't seem to be a end all be all answer and consequence and this is still Alpha so I'll just have to trust that issues like this will be properly addressed in due time. It is scary though.

Alright folks I'm a little freaked out right now because I killed a player in the NE Airfield this morning and I happened to come across an M16A2 M203. I cross referenced the list of weapons off the wiki and it showed the weapon listed so I took it thinking it should be fine. I then decided I would go into the Single Player editor to get some practice with using and firing the weapon so I'm not a totally noob with it. Well unless I made a mistake the weapon I picked up is labeled as M16A2GL for the command I insert into the editor to spawn with it. I could be wrong, this is my first time ever using the editor and I have a total of maybe 5min experience with using it. Anyway, I typed in to spawn with the M16A2GL into the SPeditor and the weapon does not look the same at all. It's tan/brown in color for one and it had a scope. The one I found in game and have in the game is black and has no scope as seen in the wiki. I could have picked the wrong item to enter in the SPeditor but that's beyond the point.... I'm just really confused. Can anyone tell me if I have picked up a legitimate weapon or not? I don't want to get in trouble and if I need to drop it, then I will do so immediately. Stupid stupid stupid. I can't speak for everyone but the majority of my spawns just so happen to be Elektro and Cherno. I cannot imagine trying to sneak around those cities with no weapon without being killed by zombies or players. That being said. If this is what must be done to catch the hackers then I am all for it.
