I'm sorry but I just couldn't stand leaving this post be, I had to bump this old thread to point out what a stupid post this is. If you honestly think people act the way they do in DayZ like they do in real life, you either have never experienced real life or haven't played DayZ. That, or you're full of shit. Roleplaying is great for DayZ because it makes people act like human beings with personalities and stories to tell, how people would actually act in a post apocalyptic scenario. Not just "I'm going to kill you because I found good loot and have nothing to do now". Really, people in DayZ just kill each other on sight and for fun, that's not generally how humans would behave. Even in a zombie apocalypse where you're trying to look out for yourself, trying to kill all of the few remaining humans that you find so that it's just you versus what used to be the majority of the population of the planet would be a really moronic idea in reality. Seriously, what would cause you to say something so incredibly dumb? You honestly must hate roleplaying in any multiplayer game because the way you justify your opinion is the same thing you could say about any multiplayer game with roleplaying potential. People in DayZ generally do NOT roleplay as real human beings, end of story. -
I'm looking for a server that starts you out with the same pistol every time you spawn for every person, preferably without any ammunition so that fresh spawns don't KOS each other, plus it adds more challenge. I know some servers start you out with a pistol, but with ammunition. I haven't bought the standalone because I like that feature and I know in the standalone they start you out with no weapons at all. Which I can understand why people would like, but that's not for me. Not sure why, it could be because I like a little bit of continuity in my weapons between deaths, knowing my trusty pistol will always be there even if it's not usable without ammunition. I'm just weird I guess. Anyways, that along with a friendly, active community (that doesn't mean no banditry of course, just without asshole players, bandits are necessary); and some roleplaying would be absolutely amazing. Anyone know of a server like this? If not, I don't mind starting with ammo, it's just not my preference. On an unrelated note, I'm thinking of buying the DayZ standalone if they open it up to mods. I know a portion of the community hates the idea, but it's something I like since the current version of the game isn't for me quite yet and never will be without mods. Yes, I'm aware I'm weird and picky.

Hey guys, me again in case anyone recognizes me. Now, I'm currently not a fan of DayZ for reasons I won't mention again, but I would be interested in purchasing it and modding it to my liking. Anyone know how moddable the standalone is or will be in the future?

Anyone know how moddable the standalone is?
justin1311 replied to justin1311's topic in General Discussion
I used to play it a bit, and the game does have kind of the same atmosphere as STALKER but it doesn't play like it in my opinion. Maybe I'm just too obsessed with scavenging. :P -

justin1311 replied to justin1311's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, they had to change the name but it used to be called STALKER Online, so it's pretty much STALKER. Here's a link: http://szone-online.net/ Like I said though, I didn't find it very fun. Literally all of your equipment is purchased, there's like no quest reward or scavenged items. :/ -

I doubt I'd want to spend time on a forum where they'd let you insult my intelligence but would ban you over a little name calling anyways. You reported me over being called a name, check out your own feelings of inadequacy real quick. ;) Go back to your game and quit getting so butthurt over people who like things you don't like. kthanks -

No no, not the singleplayer series. I've played Call of Pripyat and you can survive off of scavenging and killing enemies to survive for the most part. I'm talking about the MMORPG for STALKER. Not Survarium. Though I was looking forward to Survarium but they're taking way too long to release the Alpha and the game is mostly going to be a linear shooter game anyways. -

I didn't like things like traders and such, I think being able to buy your gear instead of scavenging is not fun at all. It's the reason I don't play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Szone) Online. -

My goodness you are quite the little asshole, aren't you? Quite a few people still play the DayZ mod even with the standalone in alpha. What are you talking about? Also, if you choose to quit a game because you're butthurt over people who have servers you don't like, you're a fucking idiot. -

Well let me start out by saying that's not what I would do if I had a server. Anyways, I just don't see how it affects you if someone chooses to run their server in a stupid way. It doesn't really matter what the game is about in your opinion, or even most people's opinions. Modding lets you create fun servers and shitty servers, just don't play on the shitty ones. I'm surprised this is even an issue. Though I wasn't aware that modding ability made it easier for hackers to hack the game, that is a good point. Well, I think my question has been answered. The community doesn't like it so it won't be added. -
Hey guys, I'm interested in making my own custom server with a custom death penalty and hopefully other changes as well. It most likely won't be popular but I'd like to try anyways since I have quite a bit of free time at the moment. Does anyone know of any good tutorials that are out there, and could you link me to them if you know of any? I'll be posting this on the Steam forum as well. :)

justin1311 replied to justin1311's topic in General Discussion
I've played the mod, not the standalone. Your point is nonsensical. It makes absolutely no sense to say the game would be ruined because shitty servers exist. Do shitty servers just make the good ones magically disappear? That's just stupid. The mod was, obviously, able to be modded and that didn't ruin it at all. You're making no sense. -

Because, you know, what other people choose to do with their servers affects you in an extremely negative way. (?) -
I really don't like normal DayZ, too much KoS. It's not realistic in my eyes. I also enjoy roleplaying, so I'd really like to find a good roleplaying community. I've already tried DayZRP, their whitelist applications are closed for the time being. There used to be Apocalypse-RP but that has since shut down. Does anyone know of or run a good roleplaying community for DayZ? I don't mind if it's small but trying to get bigger, as I am willing to advertise for it.

So, I'm not a fan of permadeath most of the time so I don't play DayZ often at all. However, I do enjoy playing the game. Does anyone know of a way to mod DayZ in a way that makes it so you only drop everything except your backpack (not the items in it) and your primary and secondary equipped weapons? I'd like to maybe run a server like this, no idea how many players I'd get but I'd like to try. I just find the game more enjoyable when only certain items are lost on death, that's just me.I'd like to play DayZ more as an open world RPG with a more hardcore death penalty, but not as a completely hardcore survival game. A little more laid back, a little less worrying. I don't currently know of a game like this, so I'm asking this here. Does anyone know of any tutorials or how this can be done?

How to mod DayZ in a certain way?

If you mean WarZ, I'm aware the game was awful otherwise and still had permadeath in it. -

"Does anyone know of a way to mod DayZ in a way that makes it so you only drop everything except your backpack (NOT THE ITEMS IN IT) and your primary and secondary equipped weapons?" Meaning you respawn with two guns and an empty backpack, nothing else. I hate it when people tell me that the game would get boring if x feature were changed, just because it would be boring for you doesn't mean it is for everyone else. I expected responses like this but I felt like trying anyways. All I'm asking is if someone knows how to do this, I'm not asking you to like it. I find it boring with complete permadeath, so I wish to change it. If you do not wish to play the game like that, that's fine. That's not what I'm asking here. It reduces KoS and makes your time feel lest wasted upon death, that's why I like it. That's fine if you do not. It's really only a small change to a big mod. -
STANDALONE: give value to life and REDUCE KoS!
justin1311 replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the only way to reduce KoS in any permadeath game is to make the permadeath either more limited (to only losing everything but equipped weapons and maybe your empty backpack) or remove it entirely. Then people would kill each other less because you'd only kill someone if you needed food or ammo most of the time. Of course that would be server based, not changed entirely within the game itself (so permadeath servers would still exist), but that sounds like fun to literally no DayZ players besides myself. So I'm not really sure how it can be done. If you see a guy with something good and you're an average player, you're going to kill him and take his stuff. That's just how it goes for now.
