It doesn't really make sense for audibility to increase in fog. I think visibility should lower with the sound the same as usual. Edit: Just saw Rocket's explanation earlier in the thread. I suppose it makes sense that the water molecules would help carry the sound. I've never walked in heavy fog, so I've never experienced it. As long as the change makes sense, I'm down with it. I am worried how this will affect zombies, though. If they know exactly where you are in heavy fog just because of a sound, that would be a bit silly.

please read: matchbox spawnrate

I was hoping to find matches while in Cherno today, but I found 6 watches instead. Funny how that works out. -

I took one shot with a Winchester in Staroye earlier, and I found myself having to kill about 25 zombies. I had never even gotten that many even shooting the notoriously noisy Enfield before. The best part is it all started because my sound suddenly jumped from one to three in a random spot in the middle of one of the large, completely flat floored barns. On the bright side, looting was easy after that.

Is it really that hard to find loot?
CommodoreFrank replied to TheFired3mon's topic in New Player Discussion
I started my first no weapon spawn today, and I decided to risk going into Cherno, something I previously wouldn't risk after being shot in the outskirts multiple times. I found it extremely devoid of zombies in comparison to small towns, and I found everything I needed. I would even go five or more minutes without a single zombie, and it seemed the closer I got to the core of the city, the less I saw them. When I hit the outskirts of the city with a full pack, I found a ridiculous mess of zombies around all the small, common loot buildings. Is this normal? I generally have a miserable time in small towns since the latest patch, but looting Cherno was the easiest thing I've done so far in this game. Shouldn't it be the opposite? -
Nerf bleeding, buff zombie damage.
CommodoreFrank replied to daedrick's topic in New Player Discussion
Some majorly ignorant people here in this thread. Best bet is to just not try to argue with them, OP. It generally just turns it into a flame war. As for the topic, I don't think that the threat of zombie hits and bleeding should be necessarily switched, but I do think the balance of the damage should shift a bit more toward the actual hits than it is right now. The bleeding damage is mostly fine where it is. It just occurs way too easily. It would also be less apparent of an issue if zombies didn't hit through walls, glitch around, etc. Sometimes you just can't avoid the hit that causes bleeding at no fault of your own, but that's something that will surely be sorted out in the future. -
Best route to take after spawning?
CommodoreFrank replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Go north and look for barns. There's almost always at least one weapon in them. -
What are the chances of finding medical supplies outside of Cherno and electro
CommodoreFrank replied to Ingway's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How safe is Berezino anyway? I don't see too many people mention it, and I was thinking about going up that way soon. -
Is 3rd person really going away?
CommodoreFrank replied to jjeez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hope it stays. I tend to feel a bit more attached to my character when I can actually see it. Whether it's allowed or not should be left up to the server admins. -
Zombies are more annoying than scary.
CommodoreFrank replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only thing that scares me is that my legs are made of uncooked spaghetti. Zombies just happen to be a means of abusing that fact. -
Do you kill if someone beg you to spare them?
CommodoreFrank replied to BaitedHook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't shoot except in self-defense, but if somebody immediately thought I was a bandit and started begging, I'd probably just relieve them of their pathetic existence...at least for 30 seconds. Can't respect somebody with no backbone. -
M107 Sniping competition in Cherno
CommodoreFrank replied to Paddy1991's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And this is precisely why I never go to Cherno. Regardless, that was an amusing watch. -
I just avoid players. I'd rather avoid the inevitable fights with them. I'd prefer cooperation and trading with people, but it just doesn't happen.
-
Well, with four shoot on sight deaths (three from unknown places), I've run into one friendly. I mostly avoid populated areas, but I seem to get shot at every time I even go to the outskirts of them.

Stealth / Zombie Dynamic - Constructive Criticism Thread
CommodoreFrank replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I found it tense and enjoyable before to sneak around a town. Not once did I ever say to myself that zombies should be more aware. Though I haven't played with the new system, I'd still like to see them become more of a threat in other ways. -

Just go to the filter option and type 1.7.1.4 under the hostname filter. You'll only see current servers that way. Edit: Ninja'd! -

Don't like Bandits? Maybe you can do something about it.
CommodoreFrank replied to Techercizer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was always under the impression that when somebody with a bandit skin died, they spawned as a survivor (back in the day of skins). I've never gone down that path, so I guess I was just assuming, since death resets you in every other way. -
Bury survivor to regain humanity
CommodoreFrank replied to A Man Named GOB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see some more ways to bolster humanity, and this would probably work out pretty nicely. -
How to make the blood system more realistic
CommodoreFrank replied to Dont Shoot Me's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I always wondered myself why blood didn't slowly regenerate. Even a small amount of regeneration could be a great boon for careful players. -

CommodoreFrank replied to Techercizer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It does now? That's interesting. When did they change it, then? Seems like a bad idea to me, because maybe somebody would want to RP a bad guy one character and a good guy the next. This kinda takes an aspect out of the intended permanent death of characters. -

Killing zombies, just not fun.
CommodoreFrank replied to zenvolta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No he just states what HE would change! And what's wrong with saying what he wants? It's not like he's whining about something. We can't get a whole picture of what people enjoy if people don't voice their opinions. This is the point of public testing.
