It's a good idea, but it just wouldn't work with the current inventory system. A backpack system more like ACE's might make it possible.

What the hell just happened?

Try clicking the backpack and pressing the "Open Pack" button. It works wonders.

Spawning with no weapons/ammo
CommodoreFrank replied to landshark's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Looking at patch notes is such a lost art. -
It would be kinda cool to carry empty backpacks to give to a friend. They could take 5 or 10 slots like weapons.

Zomb... uhm... Priest Invasion?
CommodoreFrank replied to NoXious (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It might be a hacker trolling you. If it is, I give him some credit for being funny instead of being a dick. -
Should i raid the NW airport? If so how!

How many good people do you meet before you get shot?
CommodoreFrank replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I'm yet to meet anyone face to face that shot me. I've been shot 4 times and have only seen the shooter from a distance once, and I've met 2 friendlies. -
Stumbled on the motherload
CommodoreFrank replied to Zakificus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Man, you people have high standards. That's more than enough to handle yourself. "Hey, I found a $20 bill on the sidewalk!" "Meh, you could have found a $50 bill." -
Hacking won't stop you from being sh!t

I doubt most hackers could successfully fly a harrier. -
Remove Zombies Breaking Bones
CommodoreFrank replied to ArmouredDuck's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The only leg break I've ever had from zombies was over 11k blood, so it's just a chance to happen at any time. -
Killed by a rabbit
CommodoreFrank replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Try hitting anything going that speed on a bike IRL. Without a helmet, you might get similar results. -
The only way you'll generally see them easily is if they horizon themselves, so rooftop snipers and idiots standing on top of hills are usually easy to find. You'll need binoculars or a scope of your own, a camouflaged spot, and good eyes to find a good sniper.

Announcing your presence and to kill or not to kill
CommodoreFrank replied to Xelacalle's topic in New Player Discussion
I've only had one random face to face encounter since side chat removal. A man in a ghille suit somehow wandered past me about 20-30m away without seeing me (in a bloody open field as I was heading to a boar for meat). I decided to be nice and call out to him, and luckily, he didn't shoot me in the face. He seemed pretty well geared, so I can't say if he was actually friendly or just didn't shoot because I spared him. I had nothing too special on me (AMK, Glock), so I figured it was worth trying for a friendly encounter. We ended up just saying hi and going our own ways. I honestly think that a lot less people would shoot in that situation, since they know for sure that I'm not an enemy. A ton of killing on sight surely comes from paranoia. However, when my gear matters, I'll probably ignore them or call out only if I have good cover. I'm not a fan of killing just for my own gain. -
10 Reasons To Avoid Cherno/Elektro!
CommodoreFrank replied to Katana67's topic in New Player Discussion
I find number six to be wrong most of the time. I tend to find much larger concentrations of zombies in small towns. Low chance of player encounters is still a huge bonus, though, so I still spend most of my time in them. -
It's definitely funny how little people pay attention to their surroundings. I had a guy in a ghille suit run past me in an open field yesterday about 30 or so meters away. I was heading to kill a boar and wasn't even trying to stay hidden. He's lucky I'm a nice guy. I would have loved his DMR, but I can't bring myself to kill for my own gain. I suppose I had a bit of tunnel vision there, too. I was with a friend, but he's a moron and couldn't find his way out of a plastic bag, so he didn't have my six like I thought. Things like this help me to remember to look over my shoulder, even if nothing bad happened.

Broken Bones And No Morphine
CommodoreFrank replied to pwnage13371's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And morphine doesn't heal broken bones. Just saying. -
A reason would be nice, OP. The rain does give my game a noticeable performance hit, but it's not unplayable.

Do you ever feel guilty for shooting on site?
CommodoreFrank replied to Sedated Dreamer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've never shot on sight, so there's no guilt to be had. -
So many damn veteran servers!?!?
CommodoreFrank replied to Mr Muggles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm fine with any server settings as long as there's no nametags. I like the crosshair and third person, because they help make up for the fact that it's a game (which hinders the senses you'd have in real life), but I can live without them. -
[Splint] Second option to fix your broken leg.
CommodoreFrank replied to Pipinhot's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I never understood why morphine fixes a broken leg anyway. Applying a splint should make you able to walk/run move again at a reduced pace, and morphine should restore you to a normal pace while it heals. Healing time could be like 1-2 hours. I'd be fine with moving slower for a while, though leg breaks should also be less common in the first place. -
It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!
CommodoreFrank replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're incredibly ignorant. It's not a matter of being scared to die. Many people WANT to play at night, believe it or not. Dying isn't the problem. It's the fact that your only options are to get lucky and find NVGs or make yourself glowing beacon. How do you think stealthy night operations happened during WW2? They certainly didn't have night vision or draw attention to themselves by carrying road flares. -
What is the actual purpose of barbed wire?
CommodoreFrank replied to ComboBreaker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only use I've seen so far is to block buildings. I missed out on what I think was a M4A1 yesterday because of a blocked tent. Also, the parking garage in east Cherno (I believe on Atlanta 25) was turned into an extreme zombie trap somehow. I heard a massive horde of zombies when I got near the building, and I noticed all entrances were blocked off with wire and hedgehogs. -
To Rocket & the “Hardcore” crowd
CommodoreFrank replied to RJ Macready's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I swear the majority of the posts on this thread didn't even try to comprehend the entirety of the first post. He's commenting on the people that try to defend the mechanics like the 100% pitch black night, unreasonable leg breaks, etc. by just saying adapt to it. There's no adapting to breaking your legs from crawling over a single stair. No normal person would expect this to happen. There's no adapting to a zombie running through a wall, hitting you once, and breaking your leg before you even know he's behind you. There's no adapting to stepping off that 3 foot ledge and breaking your raw spaghetti legs. THIS is what the OP is trying to make a point about. These are things that need to be fixed and most likely will be in the future. He's just asking for the "hardcore" crowd to stop defending these things so adamantly. On the topic of night, yes, there's ways to see at night, but they're all extremely risky, and frankly, you should still be able to bloody tell if that's a tree or a house you're running into. Is it worth seeing better with a flare, or are you better off slowly moving and watching for obstacles 10 feet in front of you? It would be much more of an interesting dichotomy if the second choice was actually an option. No reasonable person is asking for max gamma visibility back. We just want to be able to tell if we just bumped into a fence or a damn cow. The point is, the game is still in testing, and people make threads saying what they find wrong with it. It doesn't make their opinion any less valid than yours, so just because you've been playing for two months to their two weeks doesn't make you superior. Everybody seems to take suggestions to the extreme. Night too dark? Clearly they want permanent daylight and never want to have to choose to use a flare or flashlight. We all want a difficult game, and yes, some suggestions are silly and would take away from the core experience, but that doesn't give anybody the right to degrade the post outside of civilized discussion. Sure, they may have made a repeat post, but it doesn't mean you have to personally attack them. It's not hard to tell somebody the problems with their post/idea without putting on the dunce cap and hopping onto your high horse, saying they're just bad at the game or stupid. If you don't like a repeat post, ignore it and let it get buried. Let the mods handle it. There's plenty of options. Being rude just drives away new players, and whether you like it or not, new players make games thrive. Sorry for the rant, but I'm just sick of seeing communities go to hell because of stupid crap like this. I haven't even been here long, and I've even noticed things getting worse on these forums in such a short time. Reading comprehension and civility in discussions are your best friends in making a game and community better for everyone.
