Have you tried equiping without a handgun/secondary being in it's slot? Maybe it has to be empty?

The entire point of this game is to learn how to survive. It just sounds like some have difficulty in learning. Not familiar with Arma? Go play it! You have the game now... People just need to relax and enjoy the game. If it makes you have to crawl to survive, well, that's what you gotta do. But people keep forgetting, that you have a choice. No, not a choice in what game to play, that's obvious. But a choice in how you interact with this game. You don't have to crawl, you can go into a city Rambo style until you run out of ammo. You don't even have to go into cities. You can go raid people's campsites. Hit up all the deerstands. This shit isn't linear, so stop thinking that way. As a player, as a game developer, as a consumer, it's a game. I like it, that's why I play it. I am not trying to change it so I CAN like it, because in the end, it's not my vision, it's Rocket & Teams' vision. There are plenty of other games out there that hold new players' hands and make it easy for them. Thankfully, this isn't one of them.

Nice Elias, I wasn't sure if it worked or not since I haven't really had a reason to bind stuff. However, my 12 buttons on my Naga are feeling kinda bored lately.

You can try AutoHotKey or AutoIt to bind them to the keys. Not sure if they are against TOS or not though.

How are you detecting DCs properly? I am trying to find the best way to display when a user DCs, and would like to incorporate a similar tactic as what you are describing here, WildGuns.

But we all spawned at the same spot and two did the 'friendly dance' so I thought I would join in and be friendly. One reason I thought we would all be friendly is because there was a sniper that was taking everyone out in Elektro. I wanted to team up and take him out, these guys had other plans.

This is awesome! I wish more played like this! I try to figure out the scenario first before shooting first, but that seems to always get me killed. It's good to see others are still thinking the way I do.

no, I can put in an actual script that will send a message via global chat in the server.cfg, but anything i try errors. Wants to know if any of those that have it working will share.

It would be cool if people all used the same squad xml file, they would all be in the same group channel. But I think it's random.

When using the search utility (as it is highly recommended by our fellow Moderators), it adds a span with 'highlight' as it's class to the text you were searching for. There is currently no css attributes to actually add styling to the this class so it is very hard to skim the returned threads for what you were looking for. Can we get some styling so it would be very quick for people to find what they are looking for when using the search functionality?

I guess I do speak really low. I will work on that, but I have my mic boosted up pretty well to compensate for it. I don't think my voice in the video reflects what it sounds like in game. However, I will look into it. Thanks for the feedback.

Bandicam, PlayClaw, Fraps (good advice from Wüstenfuchs on making it less of an impact) I have been streaming my stuff via XSplit. Then highlighting my videos via Twitch.tv and then uploading them to YT from there. It doesnt effect my HDD space that much at all and it's immediately stored online via Twitch.tv and when I upload to YT. However, if you like going in and doing some video effects/editing/adding music I don't suggest the online streaming method.

It does work, I was using it before this happened. However, it depends on if you have the Arma2 Beta patch installed. Which my friend and I do. So these guys might not have had it installed. From now on, I will only join servers that require it. It seems people with the Beta installed use it more anyways.

I agree with the disconnectors. As for the loot farmers, are you referring to people cycling to get good gear? Or people that are storing their loot in tents?

It was 4am, wife sleeping. My mic input level is matched to me speaking low. In game it sounds fine. Direct chat was working minutes before this. Maybe I should have tried direct text, was too busy stalking the guy. Because I figure he didnt see me, so I was going to gently introduce myself into the situation, much like that other dude did and they both do the "im friendly" dance. That's when I figured I would join in and let them know I am not hostile. Yes, I don't think the other two guys shot me, however, I don't think the 'bandit' killed the others either. I think we had all died from the same sniper, yet I wasn't one of the 'vent/ts/mumble survivors' so that one guy lit me up. Note: Yes, I had just respawned, so I had nothing to lose. Just testing out humanity. Results: Still sucks.

I like the color effect, because it's what I would imagine would be the effect if I was low on blood. It also makes the player determined to get his/her blood back up to get rid of the effect.

Custom skinning may become an exploit. I'd steer clear of it. Although, these are great, I can people using this as an advantage and venturing into something not desirable (i.e. Bright Player Skins for visibility)
