Third person view removal from SA discussion
ZenekZombie replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
There's no way to convince any side to change their minds on this subject. Not even with valid points. I kind of agree with OP, about those rookie/hardcore servers which could run on separate databases, though adding more variations wouldn't be a good idea. I'm pretty sure I've seen those in mod ( easy, veteran, veteran + no TPV ). So yeah, for me either you play on softcore server with nametags, maps working like gps etc. or hardcore server with no tpv and different loot tables, like ultra rare m4 and other military guns, etc. Although I'd love to see 3rd person completely removed, no matter how hard I wish for it, it feels like it's not going to happen. By introducing difficulty levels devs could kill two birds with one stone. There'd be FPV/TPV servers and FPV only. There's to hope that experimental build with no TPV becomes primary one, even just to see how it works out. But I feel like gamma exploit should be addressed before cameras. -

Apparently, for some people, easier gameplay counts as pro of 3rd person. Being in advantage also might be pro. Depends how you look at it. Tuning gamma and playing 3rd person in DayZ is like drawing dicks on Mona Lisa painting. It just doesn't feel right. At least that's how I see it. -

You don't get the point at all. There are people who enjoy playing at nights or with just a 1st person, but game is kind of forcing you to exploit gamma and use third person to see over your character. If you don't do so you'll be the only one running with flashlight at night on whole server and therefore exposing yourself while other clearly are not. That's why it'll be nice to see it forced either way. EDIT: It just subtracts a bit enjoyment from the game if I know that most people on the server are exploiting game settings while I'm not. -

How many players actually use experimental builds? How many of total DayZ players even checked for it or read the forums? I'd use it before if I knew that it existed. So yeah, your argument about e-feets seems invalid to me. EDIT: I was just about to suggest it aswell. Seems unfair for me, having both avaliable at once since one of them is clearly putting player at disadvantage. -

Not sure, but I've read somewhere on the forums that there's experimental build already that you can download through Steam, which disables 3rd person view. Hope they implement it for good. EDIT: Yeah, just tested it. There's downloadable patch 113899 through steam and on those servers you can't use 3rd person. The only problem is that there are very few experimental servers. -
It's good as it is, makes robbery more rewarding and therefore encourages to team up. I guess it's gonna change in the future, but I'm hoping for that they're not gonna change it much.

Servers that allow 3rd person should work on different hive and spawn new players fully geared in Balota or Cherno all the time. In my opinion 3rd person just ruins immervise gameplay. Would be nice to see it removed as fast as possible, so no more people gets used to it. I guess that everyone who uses 3rd person also exploits gamma at nights. I do enjoy the game even now, but it would be even better with just 1st person view. -
I like how it is now, respawn only when unconscious and tied, maybe add to those respawn while in water. However if it's going to be implemented, I'm okay with it as long as it can't be abused to respawn till you get your desired spawnpoint. Never had any problem being stuck, always managed to get out of glitched geometry, but if I'd get stuck, I'd probably change my mind.

Differences of realism as IRL and game. (M4 Accuracy)

Why do we already have so many 24/7 daylight servers?
ZenekZombie replied to Gingerizhere's topic in General Discussion
As far as I know, it's not possible. I think he meant different shards of official hive. Haven't tested it so I'm not sure but I've heard some servers are running on different shard of database. Like the PL servers are 2nd shard, DE 3rd and so on. -

I might be wrong, but zeroing doesn't affect bulletspread? Correct me if I'm wrong. Indeed this one seems more logical than before. Though I'm not sure why you're suggesting temp value just for that. Actually in my eyes, he actually added something useful to this thread. Also, I'd like to say, that you actually need to stop and take a breath or two to rest, so you can aim better. Maybe that's the case. Or maybe my client is cheated, because I've not encountered problems with accuracy yet. -

Well, seems like my nighttime is different than yours. My nighttime isn't turned to be greyscale unless I'm low on blood. Here's how it looks when I'm full on blood, freshly spawned: There are colors if you use flashlight, and you can see a bit of the coastline. And here's the one without many colors due to me being a bit low on blood: It's also a bit darker since moon wasn't too generous. -

Your pseudo code stated to Set brightness value, which is wrong in this case. If you're trying to educate someone and show off your pro coding skills, at least do this properly and think about it. Shouldn't take long for you though, you're coding and fixing bugs in one second, so yeah. I wish people like you would work in Bohemia and optimise engine even more, so I could enjoy the game even further, without fps drops. Maybe you could do it before going sleep tonight? -
I just had a horrible experience (serious discussion).

Make sure that your weapon is 'Pristine'. As far as I know it affects accuracy, though haven't tested it. My M4 is pretty accurate, even at a distance. EDIT: So much bullshit. -
Why do we already have so many 24/7 daylight servers?
ZenekZombie replied to Gingerizhere's topic in General Discussion
I agree. For me, 24/7 daytime servers are the cancer of DayZ. I'm not sure why people complain about colors at night. I can see them pretty well. Sadly, I guess most people just turn gamma up to max and that's why they can't see them. Because when I'm using flashlight / headtorch it's all nice and good. Even when it's pitch black you can put lit flashlight on the ground and then fight the zombie, or if you've got headtorch, which I believe is pretty common, it's even easier. In my opinion, 24/7 day servers shouldn't exist, or if they HAVE to be included in DayZ I'm hoping that they'll be on separate easy-mode character database, which would have nametags, spawn with map, GPS, fully loaded M4 and no PvP at all. Also, about that pic that was posted here earlier, which shows colors at night and stuff. Not sure about you guys, but I can't see colors that well at night, even with full moon and artificial light from nearby lamps. Color under lamps would be more yellowish and if you actually stood under one, you'd see only in close area where the light from lamp reaches, and everything further away would be pitch black, you'd not even see stars. It's good as it is, with normal day cycles. At least for me. I don't get to play daytime much as I'm mostly playing at evenings, but still, I'm having a lot of fun with the flashlight at night. It just feels immersive to me and seems like DayZ is meant to be played at nights, because difficulty then is even higher. The annoying part are lighths glitching through buildings and gamma cheat, but I'm okay with light passing through walls. Just the gamma cheating is kind of annoying to me as I never know if someone has gamma / brightness set to max or not. It's not even a week since early access released, and 24/7 daytime already came out. Now if people will complain about starting gear, we'll see servers where you actually spawn geared to teeth? -
So, you want veteran players help newbies out and stop KoS? Without thrill of being killed, DayZ would be boring. Zombies aren't actually a threat, at least not in groups of 2-3 zombies. It would be cool if more players become friendlies, but if there's no bandit around it actually sucks. It's just a game where you constantly die, and continue to learn how to survive longer. Can't see any problem here about veterans ruining game experience for others. They actually make if more exciting if you ask me. And yes, I'm trying to communicate and be friendly, this sometimes results in death, and thats okay, at least I've got a story to tell. Though it's only my opinion.

Dayz - The engine of disconnected unresponsive controls
ZenekZombie replied to Zacharybinx34's topic in General Discussion
I agree with that, personally I'm okay about Standalone movement/camera. Perhaps because I've played the mod for quite some time and got used to that. That being said, I dislike mainstream shooters and I hope they're not going to change controls just for complaining people, so they can do their 360noscope kills. Ofcourse it could be better optimised, and I wish that happens some time in upcoming year. But ~25 fps isn't game breaker for me. Oh, and stopping just to switch gun might also be a bit frustrating, but as long as every player experiences that I'm okay with it. Also, no 3rd person camera servers would be nice. -

Game needs to be more fun than fake realism
ZenekZombie replied to Mazzar's topic in General Discussion
So far I had no problem with food/water and loot. My char was running for quite long time without eating/drinking, stopping every few minutes to take a break. I guess that most people who complain about loot spawns didn't even made it off the shore. It's been few hours now, and I haven't seen anyone in Polana, Gorka, Msta, Staroye etc. All of the houses were never visited before, and the server was full/nearly full for the whole time. Actually, the only problem I've got with standalone so far is still unoptimised client which makes my framerate ~32, almost all the time, no matter where I am. Also, global voice chat bug is also pretty annoying. My advice is: plan your survival route wisely and leave the shore as fast as you spawn And yeah, the game might be pretty hard for newcomers as they don't understand the game mechanics and don't know the map as well as locations of ponds/wells which are quite important source of water. -
You can use it with any POV, and there are 3rd party apps that allows you to play lots of games which never were intended to play with Oculus. But if the game isn't optimised for Oculus Rift you'll most likely get motion sickness and the game itself is still looking pretty good, but not as good as the ones that were dedicated for Oculus.

[POLL] Are you going to Kill on Sight with new item degradation system ?
ZenekZombie replied to Safire (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm a friendly player but I rarely play the mod, couldn't find any good hardcore server except for those with donator perks, 1k vehicles etc. I found the vanilla dayz boring, even after the updates, felt like endgame has really not much to offer for friendly players except for like giving someone a lift or searching for wounded players and bandage them/transfer blood ( which mostly is now useless due to most servers I've seen has self bloodbad addon ). I voted that I'm friendly, but as it is in the mod right now, for example, if I see someone running towards me with a hatchet, I'd consider him as a threat to me. If I consider someone as a threat to me, I'm trying to act in self defence; eliminate threat. So under certain circumstances I might KoS. I never cared about loot, so item degradation won't affect my gameplay that much. If it's kill-or-be-killed situation I'd not give a shit about gear I probably damaged. But what I believe IS going to change my gameplay, are the gestures. When I'll see someone weaving/surrendering I'd feel more safe and certainly won't do any hostile actions. Even if someone would trap me like that and steal all my precious beans, I guess I'd find it more entertaining than just a regular DayZ Mod KoS. You know, more things to talk about with friends, like 'Oh, and that guy was weaving at me, lured me and then 5 guys jumped out of bushes and killed me' rather than just 'I died'. I might also try another playstyles, but none of them would include KoS as it's not fun experience for me. As for the topic, in my opinion there are still going to be plenty of KoS bandits, and it can't be helped without penalizing it. But DayZ without KoS players wouldn't be so challenging, if there'd be only friendly players, everyone'd get bored quite fast because from what I've seen so far, DayZ SA zombies aren't really challenging. But those are only my 2 cents here.
