    Guns spawns?

    Barracks. Both the old, small, one floor barracks (the ones where all the rooms are on the left of the hallway, the first being a shower room), and the newer barracks (I'm referring to them as barracks anyway). They were non-enterable in the mod, have two floors, camouflage paint on the exterior and appeared mostly on airfields. You can enter them now. I've found M4s on or under beds in those structures so far, as well as accessories for them. The reason you're not finding them is because they've probably all been scooped up. Its been mentioned that loot doesn't spawn by the player anymore. Apparently it all spawns on server restart and then that's it. So unless you get to them shortly after server restart, don't expect to find a lot of guns along the coast. You're going to have to head north. Problem with that is, it takes food and water to head north, and that'll also be gone. [edit] oh, and there are more of these barracks in the SA than in the vanilla mod. Even some new hidden army bases with loot.

    I'm undecided on whether I like the messaging system. Right now it's a little hard to tell since it doesn't seem to be displaying accurate information. You're literally always hungry and thirsty. At one point, I ate a bunch of rice, and got this: You satisfied your hunger You feel hungry ...simultaneously. I think it'll work if you can accurately gauge how hungry/thirsty you are from the messages, but at the same time I liked being able to tell at a glance. As for the no hud / immersion aspect, well how much more immersive is a constant text feed? I think maybe a good compromise would be a more subdued version of the mod's symbol based system, but maybe just have it come up only when called by the player (like the gear quick menu does) and then automatically once a critical level is reached.

    I gave up. Pressed respawn after being unconscious for 20 minutes....caused by drinking a soda while thirsty "Scene ready..." "Testing 1 2 3..." "I feel thirsty..." <snipping gif> OrLoK says? I get your point, but a bit much.

    Me too. I've been waiting a while. Worst part is, I was thirsty (who isn't), I went to consume a drink, then the second it hits my mouth, I pass out. It seems like drinking actually knocked me out. Anyway, I was most of the way to NWAF, and had good loot, so I'm not willing to give up quite yet. I remember rocket saying in one of the streams that the unconsciousness lasts excessively long at the moment, so I'm optimistic I'll wake up at some point.

    I found a can of soda while very thirsty (blurred vision), drank it, and passed out as soon as it touched my lips. Nice. And I was 2/3rds of the way to NWAF. I'm laying unconscious on the ground in the hopes I'll wake up.

    That sucks. There should definitely be a suicide option. I don't see how a player could abuse it for his advantage, being that it takes all his stuff, and starts him back at the coast.

    ...as well, I had two flashlights at one point, and the inventory seemed to get confused by their on/off states, and just gave me "turn off" as an option for both where neither were actually on.

    Player's voices are coming over the VOIP regardless of how far away they are. I even heard one guy complain that someone was killing him, then I heard him talking all the way through his respawn so he definitely wasn't anywhere near me. And the I crashed. Another guy over at SimHQ says he had the same thing - heard someone talking he shouldn't have been able to hear, then CTD.

    Yup. I got KoS'ed by a pipe wrench by the very first player I encountered - and almost at the same spot. It was the school next to Elektro hospital. .

    Very exciting. Downloading now. I wonder if they'll let us know how many they sold after the first 24 hours. Does anyone know where to find the gametracker page with all the SA servers (that someone posted in the Dec Roundup thread)? I can't seem to find it when i search myself. I'm curious to see how populated they are right now.

    Zoom for Iron Sights / Red Dots, etc.

    Indeed. Trying to view the world through a desktop monitor brings with it the question of whether to use a realistic magnification and sacrifice peripheral field of view, or zoom out to a fishbowl view affording a degree a peripheral vision but at the cost of fidelity. I think having a "zoom" function when bringing weapons up is a good compromise.
  14. And thank god for that. What an immersion killer "any friendlis in cherno?" and "watch out for the sniper at NWAF" is.
  15. I'd prefer that there were a variety of gestures, and not just tactical ones. Reason being - because like i said - it will bring the characters to life and add more depth to character interactions.
  16. Indeed. It's going to bring the characters to life in a way we don't often see in video games. I'm all for it. Do we know for sure yet which gestures are confirmed?
  17. If there's a wide variety of gestures and people take to using them frequently, I think that will greatly impact the visual experience of the SA. I noticed that last night when the group were all standing in a circle, with players occasionally making gestures. It made the scene feel a lot more animated and dynamic, and less like bunch of mannequins standing in a circle (like every other video game out there).
  18. I like the idea of a pointing gesture. That will come in very handy for pointing out items you drop for someone.
  19. Monday may be a bit optimistic for me, but I'm thinking sometime this week (recognizing that I've thought "this week for sure" about 40 times now :D ). As for breakability, well as I see it, that's what alphas are for. Better to have a lot of people out there identifying bugs rather than just a few (as long as they can stand the inevitable "this stupid game is broken!!" complaining, which i think should be easy enough for any mature grown adult to tune out).
  20. Yeah, it definitely looks like alpha release candidate material from where I'm standing.
  21. The way I see it, if at this point they have to go looking for one, it's not a showstopper, even if they find it.
  22. The only release related highlights from the stream were: -He almost let slip that they were working this weekend to, quote - "Lock down...." [people assume lock down the build], and then he caught himself and bit his tongue. -He mentioned twice that the alpha is still full of bugs, and people therefore shouldn't buy it unless they know what they're getting into. -When asked, he refused to say if it would be a 2013 or 2014. -When asked which bugs are holding up release and he said he didin't know (and apparently the cloning bug is gone). And for what it's worth, I couldn't see any show-stopper bugs in the stream and I watch almost the whole thing.
