Awesome thank you very much for the response. I have an additional question. I have an unused badass machine that sits next to me that used to be my gaming rig but became a storage rig instead I wanted to use that for the server as it was also going to run an ETQW server as well. Does this mean that I need to purchase a seperate copy of Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA in order to do that? I kind of do not want ot run the server on hte same machine I play on as I want the server to always be runing so my friends and I can join when we want to and all our junk will still be there. Not sure where to put this so... I have looked for a spell and even joined two forums trying to find answers to some questions. I wish to create a private server that only myself and my friends can play on or I can play on by myself that is persistent. I could not find any information on this other than people saying that I had to apply to create a server which to me sounds ridiculous as this server will never be open to anyone other than myself and a few friends. I could also not find a definitive answer on what files are needed. It appears that in order to run a DayZ server you need to install a second full copy of Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA along with the DayZ files, which also does not make sense since every server I can remember ever running either had a command line based cfg or had its own server files which were trim versions of the game itself used specifically for running servers and could not be made to play the game. So if anyone could kindly point me in the correct direction for information -sans any comments or questions as to why I do not want to play FPS or video games in general with people I do not know- it would be greatly appreciated.
