What is 1 clothing item that you would want in DAYZ

How about rubber soled shoes that reduce noise by 1 level in all terrain? A rare find in supermarkets or something? -

Perhaps even "slippahs" would be more accurate for out here, too. Flip flops are people who can't decide what they stand for. Slippers are something you wear on your feet. -

Really, any kind of all-covering cloak would be badass. What they used in LOTR or something would work too. BOULDER DISGUISE because YOLO (....esp in DayZ, oooooh pun) -

Is your UH hat Univ of Hawaii @ Manoa? Never said it was for looks. I just want there to be fewer shitty swimmers. Maybe swim fins could help that. Perhaps...They could even slow on-land movement since walking with fins is really awkward. -

Swimming fins so we don't swim like a paraplegic three-year-old. -
The server I play on is a public hive. No matter how many times I try to find on (I've searched through more supermarkets than I can count on toes and fingers now), I can't seem to find a bagged camping tent anymore. What's the deal? Were they removed from loot tables or something? I seem to have issues locating large animals (I have been playing on this server for days and haven't seen a single cow, sheep, goat, or pig, even though I log out near a field where they normally used to spawn all the time). Has something changed lately? Are tents located elsewhere? Are they rarer?
-
Thank you both for the info, I didn't know that change may have gone in.

Well...Okay, perhaps military campsite was a bit of a strong reaction, but I think it was more "military spawn area". Somewhat like the four tents just north of Berezino could hardly be classified as a military camp site (being only four tents), but they still provide a fairly decent amount of medium-tier military loot. Obviously the best stuff is still reserved for barracks and crash sites, but...I think my main concern was that it makes the coast even more of a hotzone than it already is.

I never said roadbloackage was bad as a concept, I just don't think it should in full effect where there is no reason for it (ex: a deserted stretch of road well outside a town's limits). Inside a town makes sense, and makes a player think about how best to approach the situation - weave through town carefully, or try to find a way around it and bear the sometimes (very) slow offroad speeds, depending on the vehicle (car? Did someone say car? Bus?) As for Kamenka, and the concept of a military checkpoint on the coast (this one's more of an issue to me than Kamenka), puting reasons for people to stay on the coast is a bad idea because it undermines any point in exploring further inland later in the game. All four hospitals are currently on the coast, meaning players need to go back there at some point for medical supplies (which is enough reason in itself, in my opinion), butwe don't need to further incentivise the coast while decentivise the inland areas. I think Skalisty Island has enough reason to go there already, with at least one actual helicopter spawn (which is often present due to the island's relative inaccessibility), if not two. Add that to the fact it has a number of fishing pole spawns, and there is actually some reason to make the trek across the water. I think maybe, if one wanted to go so far as adding a few more small things to the island, some kind of building for loot spawns (perhaps a few small military tents on the southern tip of the island, in that smaller clearing), that might be good, but let's not go putting bridges and such everywhere. There are already enough modded servers with something like that in place. As for Rify...Which I'm not sure I actually know where that is...If it's one of the large crashed container ships, I agree with having SOMETHING spawn around there, since those are clear objects in the game and adding something to make them worthwhile snooping around could be really engaging. We were referring to this one, Razor:

I don't know about the coastline military roadblock; and the clutter there seems a bit intense. Why have roads at all if we can't even drive on them? In towns, I can understand, but outside of towns I'd imagine the roads would be much clearer, save for an occasional overturned truck or something. As for the military tents being on the coast, I think it makes things a bit *too* accessible off the start. If there are military spawns right there on the coast, what reason would there be to eventually progress inland? The coast is already enough of a magnet for activity since it is the spawn zone. Edit 1: The airfield is awesome, very nicely done. The C130 crash is also nicely done, the buildings look pretty messed up (which is a good thing, since that was the desired intent I think). The new Cherno buildings...Not sure about yet. I think they could work with how you've got them set up there, though. The Dead Forest...I like the ambiance, but I think it's missing something. Some kind of sawmill building or something. Doesn't have to be expressly large or anything, but there are so many logs of sawn lumber, how'd they get there? Just the train cars?

Hows it look. Wow! That looks awesome! I'd never know it wasn't part of the map! Great job!

What does POI stand for? Also...Where is this video taking place? I don't recognize this in Chernarus, but perhaps it's not on Chernarus at all.

So I've found a little bird helicopter in terrible shape, fresh spawn... But it requires some things I've never seen on a helicopter. An engine, "RGlass" and things like that, in addition to the usual Glass 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Are these new additions to the heli fixing table, or is this more of a glitch?
-
Helicopter repair parts?
armyantsrule replied to armyantsrule's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually don't remember the engine parts being there. I remember Hrotor, lots of scrap for the Vrotor and Hull and missiles in this case, and then lots of glass. -
So er...Apparently on the few servers I've played on lately, tents have been really buggy and have been getting removed upon server reset... Has this been fixed yet? I'm not really sure how to tell, and I am reluctant to simply test it out and lose a tent in the process =/
-
The server I am on now has no problems with tents, either placing them or having them up and vanish on server reset. The server I am on now is also a public hive, though, so it's probably running the most up to date patch info and such.

...How on earth does one start with crafting? I tried opening up the journal, but it didn't give me any booklet or anything like I've seen in some screenshots. Is it an issue with the server? Do I have to get "lucky" and come across some sort of recipe? I have found a few items that are usable in crafting, but I cannot seem to interact with any of them.
-
I have no idea what all you nay-sayers are talking about. You need to scroll further down the list. That's where the good craftables are. Tripwires, bear traps, all things that have full functionality during the day or night. Tripwire grenade? Place that at the entrance to the barracks at NWAF and you've got yourself a nice, nasty little surprise for whoever wants to go exploring there next. Bear traps ain't got nothin' on tripwires!

Please bring back Pitch Black Nights and Lunar Cycle!!!!
armyantsrule replied to beavis_5000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This. So much this. Night is fun as is, but I hated nights that were too dark. It made driving an absolute nightmare, even with headlights on. Hated it. -
@ Razor: Thank you for the reply regarding "reality." That would probably explain a lot of the problems I had on the server I was playing on. For example, tents not working, the lack of a crafting journal ( or any journal, really)... I jumped onto a new server and it actually had the crafting journal, so I think I'll simply have to suck it up and relocate to something that hosts all the recent updates (which are AMAZING, if I may say so!) Mad props on all the hard work you guys do.
-
...Er...Forgive me, but...Reality builds? I'm not quite sure I follow what you mean by that.
-
On the server I was on, I did that, but the craft option never appeared. I will perhaps try a different server, though.
-
I noticed that too, Capo. On the server I have been playing on, you can't even place the tent without logging out to the lobby and logging back in. You can walk around, but as soon as you move or rotate the tent, the options to "Complete" and "cancel" the build disappear and you have to log out to the lobby to force build it. The tents still disappear on server reset on that server, but then again, I haven't tried the "save tent" option. I am reluctant to, as I am TIRED of losing my tents =/

I don't know about overheating from running. Given how far one needs to run once they get a sense of the game, and after they die far inland (and spawn on the coast without a vehicle, and are determined to get back to their body)...It can take quite a while as it is. Overheating via running = no-go in my opinion. Also, given the fact it's cold enough in the climate for someone to get cold at night (esp during the rain), I would say that the temperature is probably cold enough to keep a person cooled off, even when they are running. Breaking a sweat is possible, but overheating? You'd need weather to kick in with that too. With regards to tents...I haven't been playing since the server I was playing on keeps wiping my tents after each server restart. I really WANT to play, but I don't want to play if I have no way of storing things in the (really nicely) overhauled tent system. I love the tent placement now, it's so much smoother than it was previously, but... My tents won't last :( Are other people experiencing this? Do I need to use the "save tent" option?

They have apparently not been fixed, not on the server I am on right now.
