  1. Hi, I absolutely love DayZmod Vanilla 1.8.6.1 as it is. You guys do a great job. I play on Europa and Europa Elite (which I strongly recommend) but I feel frustrated with players destroying people's work just for the fun of it. I don't mind being killed, robbed or having my base broken into as all that is part of the game, but I just can't stand the destruction of tents and stashes whether they are inside a base or just hidden. Now, I'm not here to whine, this was just to explain the context of my questions. I'm considering running my own local server just for me because what I like now in DayZ is crafting, looting and killing zombies but I also like the risk/tension associated with other players being on the server. 1. So is it possible to run locally a DayZmod server 1.8.6.1? 2. Plus, so as to artificially recreate the tension of other players, I'd like to add bot patrols, similar to what can/could be done with Epoch. Is this possible? Sorry to mention Epoch on a dayzmod forum but it's just the pot patrols I'm interested in... In short I'd like to have my own Dayzmod server with bot patrols. Can it be done? Thanks for reading

    Setting up server questions

    Hi this is just what I was looking for, being a total noob in that kind of things. I'm now at this step: however, there's no server.cfg in my C:\your arma oa installaton folder\cfgdayz. Where can I find it?
  3. So I tried following this tutorial to set up my own server eventhough it is for DayZ 1.8.3 : but I didn't make it through. I managed to have the server running but I'm stuck on Waiting for host. I checked the rpt and the problem seemed to be located in the addon folder namely some Crossbow thingy incompatibility. Of course I had reversed my DayZ 1.8.6.1 to 1.8.3. Then I had a look at the features (not) offered in 1.8.3 and there's too many good stuff introduced from 1.8.4 onwards that I don't want to miss. Could anybody point me to right direction : setting up a 1.8.6.1 server? I'll see about the AI patrols in due time... First things first, being able to play on a private purely Vanilla latest DayZ server! Help?

    kill Z, get humanity up

    Hi, We don't get humanity for killing bandits, which is a pity because killing bandits should be rewarded. The only remaining way to get humanity up is to heal other players. But this doesn't work if you play alone. If I want to play alone, why not rewarding me for cleaning the surface of the earth from the undead? So I think we should be able to up our humanity by killing zombies. I've tried PvE servers thanks, this is not what I'm asking for. We should get maybe 50 humanity, or even less, when filling up a page of the journal. I believe it's 175 zombies. Considering you need 5000 humanity to be hero, that could take a while, so it should be difficult enough while still be rewarding. Thanks.
  5. UP ! Server population is growing and growing. Come and join the fun! With side chat now disabled, no more silly questions such as "I'm bleeding what should I do?" and no unwanted voice on side chat. What are you waiting for? :P

    DayZ Mod 1.8.1

    @Malibu28 Use your Journal (i think default key is "i") to see your levels of thirst and hunger accurately. Onscreen displays are just an indications. Sodas fill up about 150 thirst out of about 1500-2000 (not sure about that) so that's why you don't always see indicators levels moving up. Same with canned food, different levels with different types of food. SAme with blood levels. meat does regenerate blood, depnding of what meat you eat, but you need to check journal to see your blood level Bloodbagging yourself or others requires a transfusion kit.

    NEW STEAM USERS! Please read.

    Hello, I apologize for resurrecting this tread but i'm having troubles connecting to a Dayz server i play on. DAYZ EUROPA it's hosted @ vilayer so for now it runs on Arma 2 1.63.112555 with Dayz 1.8.1. For a week, I've been launching dayz through steam, beta patch. Today, steam updated something in Arma 2 and Battleye service doesn't launch when i launch ARMA 2: DayZ Mod [1.8.1] do i get kicked from the server. When I launch Arma 2 OA through steam, i see a battleye window opening up and disapearing, I guess it must be BE service launching. However, the Arma2 OA build launched that way is 1.63.125402, which doesn't work with the server I play on. Please help, I'm asking this on this thread because I have read somewhere that you can select the build to use in arma 2 through the launch parameters, but I can't lay my hand on it. The idea would be to launch Arma2 OA with the 1.63.112555 build so Batlleye starts then I could play DayZ. I'm a bit desperate TBH ^^
  10. Very nice server, good performance, admin is really active. Good thing is that with crosshairs off and map markers (waypoints) off, there's not too many kids or CoD players From what I saw, beginners get help and tips from veteran players, so what's not to like? Come over here and check it out!
  11. Hello, Congrats to the devs for the wonderful 1.8.1! I can't wait 1.8.2 to be able to use wooden splints and here's a suggestion : I see the String item more often than morphine. So wooden splints are easier to craft than finding morphine. So a wooden splint should have some probability of breaking when a player sprints or jumps over an obstacle, breaking the bone again and causing blood loss or knock out from the pain. What do you think ?

    Similarly, morphine is not a logical/realistic solution for a broken bone nonetheless you're perfectly alright after using it. My point is to make splinters a more uncertain solution to broken bones as strings are easier to find. I love this^^

    1.8.1 thoughts?

    Regarding the issue of Z attack range. I also got hit from several meters away. From what I observed (I love sprinting and watching over my shoulders ^^) it was a specific attack that caused this. It's that attack that looks like the Z runs, stops, makes a step forward and does a quick grab motion with one arm moving just after the other. To me, it looked like it's due to some delay between the path I was following (sprinting), the fact that I crossed the area of damage of the zombie attack and the time it takes for the animation to result in a hit. If you see what I mean ^^ Sorry for that awful description. Also I love this new patch. Especially the eat/drink system that doesn't fill you up in 1 drink or portion of food. Very well done. Running out of matches is excellent, so is breaking the axe. GG I've been holding on to a plastic box I found in a house, wondering what it can be used for... I thought it could store raw meat in it so it doesn't go bad, but meat doesn't go bad anyway, so I'm puzzled.

Hello there, I need your help regarding plot pole/maintenance issues: Context: my friend and I run an Epoch Chernarus server hosted at Vilayer Arma version : 1.62.103718 Dayz epoch version 1.0.4.2. Before being hosted at Vilayer, we were hosted at dayzst and we transferred our database from dayzst to vilayer. Our issue is : Mainteance through plot poles doesn't take into account H-barriers, sandbags, round sandbags, sandbags nests, workbench, fire barrel, stick fence, sun shades. Walls, floors, doors, toilets are ok. Consequence is that those elements disappear when decay time is up, as if we didn't maintain. Now, my friend does the dirty work of tinkering with the server, and I do what I can to help, including speaking English ^^ Can you help us please? This is getting really annoying to see people's/our creations disappear. Just ask if you need scripts exerpts and I'll provide them. Thanks a lot

  18. Hello, Hero skin includes a thigh holster but unless I'm mistaken, it's always empty. I think it would look great if the handgun (or torch) equipped could be seen holstered. Heroes would look even more awesome this way imho. Thanks

    Need a separate thread so that what I'm going to write is not off topic regarding OP. I experienced such uncontrolled movements in a steep slope on a motorbike in Chernarus. The bike was moving down slope to my right and i had to steer to the left to go straight... if you see what I mean... As for OP, agreed, zombies should be able to disarm you, as they're already able to pull you out of a fast moving motorbike, which ended up in sudden death for me ^^

    Side-note: In France, the only people I've met who own automatic cars are over 70 y-o, or with physical diabilities. Recent high-end cars with optimized fuel consumption also tend to come with auto transmission but those are not very common. But I'm perfectly happy with auto transmission cars in DayZ ^^
