Was just going to post the same thing about hunting. Wild animals like deer could have fewer steaks than cows but each steak could restore more blood. I think it's a great idea.

item that creates a "no zombie spawn" zone suggestion

Neither do I, but it happens in the game right now. Have you not seen this? -

200 meters is pretty far. Far enough that even if you fired off an Enfield it might not attract zombies outside the radius. Maybe more like 50m. -

12 zombies per person, maybe, but that doesn't mean each person has 12 zombies assigned to them. In other words, if there are 20 people on the server but 15 of them are in the wilderness, the 5 people in populated areas get ALL the zombies on that server. I've been mobbed by way more than 12 zombies many times. -

First, if your only input is going to be a flat "no," don't bother. It's not a discussion at that point, it's just you being a tool. Second, this is not Reddit. Go be pedantic and humorless there. Third, I couldn't give a microwaved turd what your loadout is. It's like signing all your posts with your (claimed) penis measurement. As for the suggestion, I think there are going to have to eventually be some sort of "safe zones," or means of fortification (that actually work), because just running around all the time is going to eventually get boring for everyone. If fortification were possible, bandits would have something more to do than sit on top of the firehouse in Cherno and snipe new spawns. It would encourage more cooperative play, both among "carebears" and bandits. So, whether you, ODoyleRulez, think it's a good idea or not, it's probably going to happen in one form or another. Also -- it's spelled "rules." -
So, apparently some folks have hacks to identify where all players are, even with tags off. How do I know this? I spawn into a server with five people on it. I'm prone under a pine tree in the woods. Within two minutes a heli is circling my position, firing at me and dropping grenades (or firing rockets, not sure) until I'm dead. Sorry, but no way in hell did they just happen to pass over and see me. Good job, guys. Way to make an already difficult game completely pointless to play. Why were there only five people on the server? Because every other person who logs on dies in minutes. How PROUD you must be of your prowess. Screw this game until there's some balance. This is ridiculous.

Do what you wanna do, man. Just don't post this sort of thing and expect to get anything besides mockery. Also, editing video is REALLY easy these days. If you're gonna post a five-second money shot, cut out the running around that surrounds it.

Wow, you are tough. He might have killed you with his ... bandage. Y'know, I don't have a problem with bandits. I really don't. But if you're gonna be a murderous psychopath, own it. Don't say, "Someone shot me once, so now I kill everyone." That's the lamest copout in the world, because the only person who can't use that excuse is the very first person who killed another player ever.

The most common exploit in the game

Yes, OF COURSE he does, and I should know that because of a discussion you can't find. Man. Sometimes people in forums are so intent on telling someone that they're wrong, they're stupid, they should just shut up, that they don't even realize how flawed their condescension is. Yep, it's their fault for you not having enough brain power to use the search function. Righto. Hey, if the person trying to refute my point can't find the info to back up his argument, why the hell would I do it for him? THAT would be lacking brain power. If you want to search for "Rocket knows about how zombie pathfinding is screwed up," you go right ahead, Bright Boy.

Switch to axe, without using the bag space in the backpack??

I like to play at night because it's even more intense, because there ARE fewer players running around playing deathmatch, and because zombies are much more dangerous and creepy when you can't see them. To me, those are all plenty enough benefit for playing at night. Let the run-n-gunners have their daylight all the time servers.

Switch to axe, without using the bag space in the backpack??
alejo699 replied to Kashus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The game's not supposed to be balanced' date=' per se. Considering that the axe is already on your toolbelt, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to sling a long gun and take out the axe. Probably the quickest way to do this is to allow melee weapons to occupy either the primary or secondary slot. Also, the hatchet in-game is not much larger than a handgun, and it's pretty easy to improvise a holster for a hatchet. [/quote'] Exactly this. You can holster your sidearm and sling your rifle, there's no reason you couldn't take a hatchet off your belt and use it. -
DayZ is an awesome game (mod), but the only thing you lose by dying is your gear -- and you don't even lose that if you can get to your corpse in time. So people do things they wouldn't do in real life, like shoot at every single person they see, because who cares if they get killed in return? Here's my idea: The longer you stay alive, the more options you would unlock for your character's appearance. It eliminates the "I don't want people killing me because they can see I'm a bandit" whining, because choices would be made by the player. (The bandit look could be an option for those who feel very ballsy though.) It would also eliminate some of the sameness of the models, so you could actually tell which buddy you're looking at on a no-tags server. I realize it would also make newbs quickly recognizable, but it could potentially be beneficial, as not all bandits are just out thrill-killing, so they might be more likely to let a FNG go until he's more of a challenge (and probably have better loot). As for mechanics, you'd have to spend all of your time "levelling" on a single server to avoid the server-jump exploit people already abuse the hell out of -- but once you earned your new clothes they would persist cross-server until you were killed. ALSO: This would be completely OPTIONAL. You would not change your skin unless you wanted to. TL;DR: Award new skins based on length of time allowed to encourage players to play as if dying actually meant something.

Yes, I understand all of this. I work in the game industry. You don't need to explain to me the difference between design and necessity. And I realize that all the players know this. But the question is, does Rocket know how the players feel about it? That is the purpose of this forum, so it is a valid topic to bring to his attention FOR THE FUTURE. Discussing something is not the same thing as whining about having it done tomorrow.

The zig zagging is a limitation of the game engine / entities used to create them. It sucks as it is. We know this. They were cobbled together using a bit of "magic" and it's far from ideal how they work. Whether it makes sense or not is irrelevant considering that the current system is extremely limited in how it can be achieved' date=' and what it can do. What you seem to be asking for is a simple nerf to a very limited and broken system, and what I am suggesting, is that the system will ultimately be completely re-written from scratch in a later build. It will probably take a few months time, maybe more. It seems like you are missing the bigger picture here by focusing on the smaller details. [/quote'] No, I understand what alpha means. I also know that the zombies are reskinned pigs. I am also not proposing any nerfing. I'm simply pointing out that the OP's suggestion is a valid one, especially since this IS the suggestion forum.
-
It IS remotely possible. I've done it a hundred times. With the new LOS mechanic it's even much easier than before. I think you are just being a pussy about it' date=' but that's just my own opinion. [/quote'] Nice. "I think you're a loser, but that's just my opinion." Gonna win hearts and minds with that one. Seriously, though -- whether you're the master shooters you all claim to be or someone who's tired of trying to draw a bead on a zombie who is juking like a running back, a zombie that tries to avoid being shot makes no sense. Fast, slow, irrelevant -- what we're talking about here is mindless undead things whose only goal is to eat you, so they should just make a beelines for you when they sense you. The zigzagging just doesn't make sense to the zombie motivation.

[1.7.1.5] Czech Backpack disapperaring when switching to ALICE backpack
alejo699 replied to Kvalek's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I have also experienced this twice. Not fun. -
Well said. I don't engage other players (except when they shoot at me first), but yet I am still playing against other players in trying to avoid being shot by them. Also, I don't think weapon damage should be nerfed. Much as I hate being shot, turning the game into just another shooter where people run around flinging thousands of rounds at each other would make it ... just another shooter. No offense, OP, but if you want gunfights, go play something else.

suggestion to make player think twice about PK
alejo699 replied to Calcey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think people should be punished for PvP either, but I do wish there was some incentive to work with people. For instance, if you could actually clear an area of zombies for, say, ten minutes so you could loot it, people might actually team up instead of just killing the people who spent hours collecting gear. ...But then again, bandits would probably rove around listening for gunshots so they could kill the players who just cleared an area. I guess there will always be bandits.... -
I feel vindicated seeing this post. Buddy and I were in Kamenka and got aggro'd. Killed ten or 15, my buddy runs out of ammo and tries to draw some off. He ends up with a dozen chasing him and I get gang-mauled by 20 more. This issue definitely needs attention, if you're almost guaranteed to die every time you have to shoot a zombie.
